@Soundwave. Are you sure you want HV to start with? I really don't recommend it to a noob. Usually I recommend a 510 starter kit, extra atties, and some juice OR a 510/K808 cartomizers with the appropriate batteries or a mod/batteries and extra juice.

Most people I know gag on the vapor when they take their first hits and that is on LV kits. Starting at HV makes things really temper-mental IRT atty life if you are inexperienced. The Xhaler is a great mod and it will do HV if you want and LV... but it isn't what I would recommend as a first use PV.

Edit: that's a lot of V's :)

I'm not going to beat around the bush... I would like someone to hold my hand in the big jump (not that I'm going to condemn you if something is wrong). I just would feel better and less stressed if someone with experience knew the ropes and said "Here is what I would do if I was you to last one month and only wanted a 510 atty"
If you've decided on the Xhaler, then Nhaler is the only place to get it (except maybe a used one in the classifieds). They're a full-service shop, so you can get everything you need from there. You've been smoking camel wides, so you're going to want the heaviest TH you can get to simulate what you're used to smoking. That means an Xhaler with the set of two CR123a 3V batteries (for 5V/6V vaping) and charger. You'll want an extra set of batteries (one set to charge while you're using the other), and a few extra atomizers (510 will give the best TH, don't forget to get a 510 adabter with your kit). If you want a full month's supply, you'll probably want at least three bottles of juice. The attys and juice you could get cheaper at other shops, but it's probably easier to just get everything from one place for your first order. Your shopping cart should look something like this:
xhaler.png

Obviously things like the color/design of the Xhaler and the flavor of the juice is up to you, but this is a very solid starting setup. Most people find 510 carts to be fidgety and they don't hold much juice anyway. Many people who use 510s eventually switch to drip-tips, which are hollow mouth pieces that you can drip liquid through directly onto the atty. You can also drip with regular or empty carts to try it out. If you think you will prefer this method, you can order a drip-tip with your starting order, but it's certianly not mandatory.

Jolly I appreciate the info. Could you be my hero and post a "complete" starter kit for me on what you would recommend? I really don't want to buy something without throat hit since that is my main addiction to cigarettes. I have been reading about the cartomizers vs dripping thread in here and I believe if I start with cartomizers then I would be happier. Once again I care less about taste (I've been smoking analogs for crying out loud. lol) so what would be your suggestion on a 1-month starter kit with 40mg of juice included and where?

I wish these suppliers had a 1 month starter kit package so that when buying it any n00b could know "This will last the average analog smoker one month and not stress out". lol

The only thing I can add is that being on ECF is like having someone holding your hand. If you use one of their vendors they know you have the site behind you. I may be off on this its just the impression I have. Check the master list for coupon codes most have a ecf code. That way there is no mistake your a part of the forum.

I wish I had known about this place BEFORE buying my first unit. $100 in the toilet for my first device...

At any given voltage, a 510 is going to give you better TH than a cartomizer. Personally, I love cartos, but since you're used to camel wides you're probably going to need more TH than they can offer. That's why I suggested a 5V/6V 510 setup. If that doesn't take your head off with vapor, nothing will. Cartos are really convenient, but they are short in the TH department and they don't work as well at high voltage (they tend to burn filler easier).

To your original question, the XHaler is just a big battery mod. It's a battery housing and a switch. When it comes to vapor production and throat hit the mod has nothing to do with it. the only real difference between them is the quality of the switch and how they feel in your hand. I use a high voltage mod (6 volts, 2: rcr123 3V batteries) with a high resistance atomizer. I have made both 901 and 510 versions of the same mod and bought HV attys in both versions. I honestly can't tell the difference in the 901 and the 510 at 6 volts. they're both equally kick. Flavor, vapor and throat hit are fantastic on both.

Thank you Jolly I appreciate your list. I have now been pushed up against a wall with what I had money wise to deticate to my switch to e-cigs and now I'm forced to be more budget orientated. I am going to purchase a 510 with PCC and some juice. I'm stuck on what kind of juice to buy though and the differences are MASSIVE. I am very confused but I've been doing my best to try and find the most for my money since I can't spend a whole lot for a month after I get it. I don't care about taste and I'm super easy to please any recommendations?

Welcome to the forum Soundwave

I'm gonna give you a piece of advice on juice and it may get booed around here but take it for what it's worth.

First off, I am recommending this particularly because it worked for me. I was a 35 year 2 pack a day guy (at least for last 10-15 years) and the last 5 years or so my poison of choice was Camel Lights. I was one of the lucky ones who quit COMPLETELY 2 hours after my 510 arrived in the mail....and I really had no intent of quitting. I was just hoping to avoid the trips out to the garage to freeze and smoke (this was Feb.).

I credit a lot of my instant success with the fact that the juice was familiar, by that I mean it tasted like Camel to me. Three months in now and I wouldn't touch that juice.....but it was a lifesaver (literally) for me. As a bonus, it is about the cheapest juice you can get.

Strictlyejuice is the Wal-mart of juice suppliers. They are cheap, offer many options, and ship free and fast. I highly recommend you get Turkish Tobacco and Camel flavors from them, Turkish was my preference but I smoked lights...you may prefer the Camel. At their prices, you can afford to get a couple different strengths as well. I would recommend you get at least a bottle of 18mg and a bottle of 24mg so that you have options while you are figuring it all out. Just for kicks, throw in one of their samplers of something off the wall, you may just be surprised.

Good luck on your journey and keep asking.....people here love to help.

No prob, and you can't go wrong with your choice IMO. At least it isn't SmokingEverywhere! There are some really nice 510 kits out there at cignot, nhaler, etc... Plus that will be very convenient to carry and looks and feels at least close to a cig.

I am fond of Rocky Mountain Vapor for getting 50ml bottles. He currently has a sale @$15 for 50ml shipped. It is Dekang, and it meets the mark IMO. Flue Cured is pretty much my staple. I could drink it now! He has all the turkesh and camel flavors also. Not sure how much you smoke, but I caution you, when I quit I was hitting the PV soooo much because I was freaking. I had xtra high nic, and I was over doing it. So don't go out and get 36mg nic juice somewhere is what I am saying.

Good luck in whatever you choose, glad to see you give it a go. I tried my wifes cigarette tonight. I was not impressed by the flavor or vapor, uh I mean smoke produced  6 months is approaching fast for me!!!

Here and back
You know, I only "hold" my mod's nowadays. The small 808 and 510 batts are in storage. I really wish I had saved all the trauma, drama and $$$$ and known to just go straight to a mod. Are there really many folks here that once they have a mod, 5 or 6 V really go back to the cute little cigarette looking 280mah batt?? I don't think so. I advise people now, if I know them and I'm sure they will stick with it, to go straight to the mod. Save time and money. The attys are a different story. I go back and forth with the 808 cartomizer, 510 atty and 901 atty. They all have a time and place.

I switch between my mods/batts as needed depending on what I am doing but use a 510 atomizer or cart for all of them. For example, if I am wearing a suit, I don't carry my big battery mod, I carry a lightweight little batt with a clip. If I am on a road trip I am carrying a juice box of some sort. If I am just at the desk or watching TV I am dripping on my big batt mod. I actually only use HV for when my atty starts to be unproductive @3.7. Also, I am not fond of taking my nice expensive battery mod on airplanes, just in case TSA gets a wild hair. So they all have their place(s) IMO.

I usually recommend to people to get a little $25-40 kit and if they stick with it for a week or more and are liking it, then to look for a decent mod. I hate to see people spend a huge amount of money to only find out they hate it. My wife tried a couple times, only to fail and that is with me here and a nice selection of mods (510 & otherwise) to help her along the process. She just does not have the real desire to quit and doesn't like the differences.

The funny thing for me is I started looking into e-cigs because my fiance's brother (first time I met him) was smoking one and raving it was the best thing but only if you quit analogs which he was having problems with still. He only started the e-cig about 3 days prior.

Being that I am an IT Director I thought well.... this seems techy and like a fun cool way to quit. (Wait thats how I started cigs! oh well) I've tried patchs, gum, cold turkey and none of them have worked. The e-cig gave me another thought "Maybe I can this way" and I went ahead and called every store in Ventura only to find two choices. An e-cig startup kit for $85.00 and a e-cig startup kit for $25.00. Like most I've read about on here I did the usual went with the cheapo and decided "Why pay so much for the same result."

Well I can say I am grateful that I bought it... even though the juice tastes like .... and the automatic portion of it goes off without me looking at it on the table... it still helped me to go from one pack of camel wides to 2 analogs a day!!!!! Granted I'm going through a cart a day but I feel its only temporary with the transition being so new once i get a pv that has throat hit (this one has 0) I'm sure it will change as well.
