Aegis Boost is a truely awesome device. As advertised, it's tough, it works great and is pocket-sized and pocket-friendly. The quality is amazing. The concept of a pod seemed unecessary at first, but I later realized it means you can remove the pods for refilling without dripping liquid all over the device itself (see more below about this), and you can soak the pods (without a coil) in water to clean them. I use Boost both with the rba head and prebuilt coils. Both are great. No major problems with leakage once they're filled (but again, see next messsage below about the painful process of filling the pods).

One design problem with the Aegis Boost's pods that I have not been able to resolve is filling the pod reservoir cleanly and quickly. Whether I use a larger Chubby Gorilla bottle (about 1-5/8" diameter with very narrow drip tip) or a smaller one (about 1/2" dia with thicker tip), I am unable to get liquid into the reservoir without it overflowing, making a mess and wasting liquid. The liquid seems to back up and flow out over the edges of the fill hole, even if you drip it in very slowly, and the level in the reservoir tends to increase very very slowly if at all (i.e., most of what you squeeze in seems to end up flowing backwards and dribbling down the sides of the pod). Half the time I end up getting it only half full before I run out of time. Whatever the reason for this is, filling the pods is a hit-or-miss, not-straightforward, aggravating process, and how much of a problem it is seems to vary a lot depending on the particular pod you are filling.

I am wondering if someone has discovered a trick to getting liquid into this device's pods without this overflow/drippage problem happpening? What am I missing here?

It has occurred to me that air is not being released in the reservoir as you squeeze liquid (and air) into the reservoir, causing it to back up. It's not clear though how that can be alleviated.

Because the fill hole isn't the biggest and there is no place air can escape you get the backflow, @hittman is correct saying a needle tip bottle filling at a angle helps a lot or a blunt tip syringe works the best. You can also try shaving down your juice bottles fill tip.

Worked very well with a syringe and 18-gauge blunt needle. Thanks hittman and bigbob2322!

Haven't been able to find a food-grade squeeze bottle with needle in a decent size (>30 ml). Disadvantage of the syringe is it's that much more stuff to clean up after every time you do a fill. Plus it's not really a portable solution to the problem.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Any suggestions for travel? Bottles with needles are insecure and can't be capped; syringes can't be capped unless the needle is removed and then the needle needs to be cleaned.

Any idea what the largest gauge needle that will fit is? 18 gauge is way too narrow for high-VG liquid.

The only thing I know of is the Innokin Ucan, which is basically a stainless steel needle-tip juice bottle with a screw-top lid. But I have my doubts it would work with high VG and it has a problem where after some use it won't discharge once it's about 50% empty. Maybe mine is defective? Tried disassembling it and cleaning it but that didn't fix the issue.

A needle-tip bottle works better, but as you said, it's not travel-friendly.

    Somewhere between here and there

I actually have one of those somewhere that I bought a long time ago. It was more of a pain than it was worth. Some vendors used to send free little bottles that would hang on a necklace with orders. I don't think I saved any of those.

The Ucan is also very heavy for a 7ml juice bottle. The version 2 holds more juice and has a thicker gauge needle for thick juices, but I don't know if it's better. Coil Master also has a similar bottle to the Ucan that holds more. I think both the Ucan and the Coil Master can are out of production, though.
