I have been trying to make the switch to ecigs for a year now. So far, only the njoy king has fit the bill - the taste, the feel, everything. But the price is not worth it, and it doesn't last long - at all.

What are some good alternatives that aren't disposable? Or are there any good disposables that come with a recycle program? I hate all the waste they create, but I can't find a brand that compensates for it.

You get what you pay for. There a tons of different "Kits" you can buy and for a novice thats normally the easiest route. Do your research and watch/read reviews. A good 510 battery with cartomizers might be the way to go. They maybe a bit bigger than the njoys but the battery will last longer and depending on what cartomizers you get they could be refillable.

Welcome!

Njoy does have a recycling program but how practical is it, really? For every 10 or so you return by mail you get one free. I really can't see hardly anyone willing to bother. And it doesn't address the issue that all that waste requiring recycling is generated to begin with.

If you are really stuck on the "must look like a cigarette" thing for now I agree with the suggested models by bnrk. The issue to ponder with cigalike sizes is the bother. You already know about the short battery life of the NJoy king. You can't get away from that with the small batteries in any cigalike sizes. Non disposable cigalikes require recharging often and that does get tedious. Just something to consider regarding first purchase decisions.

But we are here to help you sort it all out. Any questions ask away. Starting here is so much better than buying anything blind with no input.

Hi, and welcome to ECF!

If you have been trying to make the switch for a year, you might consider something with more power, such as an Ego set-up, perhaps even a Spinner or a Twist for variable voltage. Something like this http://www.myvaporstore.com/Vision_Spinner_Joye_Ego_C_Twist_Combo_p/vvs-c.htm is what really did it for me. Basically, after months of searching, I ended up with a similar set-up to the Spinner/Evod combo. I know the cost is a lot more to start with than the disposables, but it can save you a lot in the long term.

That said, I totally understand the appeal of a mini cig-alike set up. I just got this one Smokeless Image | The Best Electronic Cigarette in the mail today, and I think I'm going to be very happy with it, at least for out and about. The flavor, vapor production, and battery life are in no way going to approach the Spinner/Evod, though. I don't expect it to be a replacement, just something for when I don't feel like using my bigger set-up.

There are certainly cheaper options out there. Even the Smokeless Image one comes in a $19.95 starter kit (plus, ALWAYS search the internet for coupon codes before you purchase anything! They are usually out there!). I think it depends on what you are looking for. If you are looking for a long-term replacement for smoking, you might want to go with a bigger financial outlay to begin with, since it will probably save you in the long run...

Hope this is helpful... :)

Have you looked at the eroll? I think it's great and there's a whole sub forum about it, many people are impressed.
It only has a small battery, but with a good PCC it lasts most of a day.

ETA Not sure what you mean by affordable, but as you've been using Njoy which I gather is not cheap, the eroll is probably only a weeks worth of the njoy.

Thank you so much for your helpful suggestions! I have been looking at the eRoll pretty closely...trying to make sure I consider all my options before I commit to a purchase.

To me, the look of a "real cigarette" is not as important as the feel. I like to be able to keep it in my hands, between my fingers, and hang from my lips. It's a very tactile thing for me. Anything too heavy and u tend to not want to use it.

I tried a V2 starter kit months ago and the cartridges were .......only a few in a box of ten would work properly, and the device was too heavy and long for me to use the way I like.

I really live the sound if everything we're talking about here, will continue to research and come back if I have any questions. Thanks!

The Halo G6 is a really good cig-sized device; it's what got me off cigarettes and I recommend it. I believe Volt products are similar although I've never tried them. The Eroll - which I've not tried either but have heard good things about - probably feels more like a cig, though, although you might get tired of having to refill/recharge the cartridges and batteries frequently due to their small capacity.

I think quite a few people who use the eroll carry 2, use one whilst the other is in the PCC and carry a few pre filled tanks in a small mints tin or similar. Or just the two assembled and a small bottle with a needle top.
This seems to work well and the PCC is about 1000mah, I think, which for many people will last the day.

OP would do well to read the sub forum on the eroll, which has many enthusiasts.

The eRoll is heavier than a real cig, but I think any rechargeable would be... The tip is not soft like a real cig, which I know some cigalikes do offer. The drag is pretty responsive, and it's a decent vape (amount of vapor produced)

I like my eRolls, but they are higher maintenance than an cigalike with just prefilled carts. A little less convenient in that you have to fill tanks and clean atomizers.... so depends on your priorities.

From what I've seen on the forums, three really good choices to consider would be:
Halo G6
Smokeless Image Volt
Joyetech eRoll

Hope that helps.

If you prefer the disposable ecigalikes. This company looks kinda promising.

Electronic Cigarettes | Electronic Cigarette | White Cloud

I ordered a 10pk to check them out. Im a Vamo/Protank user but i want to be able to hand some off to smoker friends to get them interested in something that seems to work better than blus and njoys.

And at 3bux a piece and 400+ puffs each. Not much of a pocket book loss to help out smoker friends get started down the right ecig path ;)

Re the white cloud flings, I wanted to get the ten pack just for emergencies etc as it seems quite a good deal and recommended by a few people here.
But.... They are $29.95 and then $28 on top of that to ship to the UK. As far as I know they don't have any resellers in the uk and that makes it rather expensive for a disposable.

I did pick up an njoy king today at Sainsburys, for any UK vapers out there that want one for the glovebox or to give to friends or family. It vapes well and the menthol really is like a menthol cigarette, but I have no idea how long it will last, not long by all accounts.

I want to try it to ditch the first cig in the morning, my ecab or eroll or ego just don't do it for me at the moment, and I thought something more like the old habit might suit me.

I started with Volts from SI...I still use them for out and about and the cartos are top notch and easy to refill. That "holding like a cigarette" thing was one of the things I had to get over when I started. None of them have the same balance. I can't begin to tell you how many times I had my battery flip out of my fingers...or out of my mouth. I just had to overcome the desire to hold it between my lips...and I had to learn to hold it in the middle for balance. You would never hold a lit cigarette in the middle, so that is something you have to re-learn.
