Hi there. I'm new. I'm new here and new to vaping. I'm feeling pretty discouraged with vaping. I can't seem to get the hang of it and move away from the cigs. Maybe close to a month ago a purchased a halo triton tank kit. It's easy to use and I felt reasonably comfortable with it quickly but I can't find any juice that I actually enjoy. A week ago I decided maybe I'd have better luck with a glass tank thinking maybe itd help flavor-wise, and purchased an Aspire K1 kit. I must be stupid, because I can't use this thing to save my life. The vapor is sparse and I'm pretty sure I'm eating the juice most of the time. The final discouraging straw was a few minutes ago when I discovered my juice leaking out of the brand new tank. I cleaned it up, tightened everything and did everything I could think to do (I am careful not to overfill and don't think I'm getting juice in the center tube). When it came time to try it out, I felt like I got a huge mouth full of juice and it was all over my hand. I'm done with it. IF I continue trying to quit smoking by trying to vape, I'll stick to the triton. But at this point, I don't even feel like messing with the crap.
btw, I have some new juices from Zeus juice that I *think* I may enjoy. They ate good for a few hours and then taste bad to me. I assume it's because I'm still using regular cigs, but what do I know.

Cowtown, USA. Where the West begins.
The most important ingredient to quitting smoking is desire. Good juice is important, and so is the right gear. But without the determination to see it through, you won't. Neither is that about vaping, that's about life.

Let me say welcome to the board; we're glad to have you. We hope vaping will help you get off the stinkys and we are in your corner. Don't give up, my friend. Keep trying, change juice, change gear, whatever it takes. And come back here for moral support, or advice on gear or juice, whenever you need it.

Good luck!

Well, I think it's really just a matter of finding a juice of what you like in life. So if you love caramel candy then maybe try to get some caramel candy liquid, if you like lemon heads candies, then go for lemon headz liquid etc. Or better yet just go to a local B&M that has a juice tasting bar and try out everything they've got. Just keep in mind that many B&M's only sample 0mg Nic liquids and Nicotine can change the flavor (I've seen this many times, I've tested a liquid in the store at 0mg and bought the 12mg because it tasted so great, then go home and loaded up my new purchase to only make the Yuck face.

As far as leaking I'm not sure, I started out with an ego twist and a protank and they worked great and never leaked.

And I agree with the person above, it's really about wanting to quit smoking. It's far too easy to say something like "this is too much hassle, so I'm just going to go back to smoking" that to me tells me the person is not ready, they don't really REALLY want to quit smoking just yet. It's their choice though so...

I wish you could compare notes with my daughter, she had a similar experience. I got her using a Vapor Zeus 6 ml. cartomizer.
Decent cloud, and a small learning curve. Tanks require a bit of knowledge and can discourage a beginner. Cartomizers are simple compared to tank know how.
Basic knowledge: E-Cigarette Basics: What Is a Cartomizers | E-Cigarette Reviews and Rankings
Re: Vapor Zeus | Vapor4Life --Watch for coupons and discounts.
Volt Cartomizer -- more cost effective than the Zeus but smaller capacity.
Smokeless Image Volt Review | E-Cigarette Reviews and Rankings
I believe one other vendor out there has something similar to the Zeus.
I assume it's because I'm still using regular cigs, but what do I know.
You might want to try 24 hour or so test with no cigs. That way your taste buds should start to recover. It takes a while to find a good juice that is a all day vape.
Might want to go to a brick and mortar vape shop and sample 10 or so juices and pick out 3-4 that seem good. Then fill up a carto with each juice and rotate them to suit. Anything worth while takes time so hang in there. The brick and mortar might even be willing to help you in maintaining your vape gear.

Take it back to the shop ... maybe threading for the coil unit is off - these are mass produced and 'duds' happen. Not sitting snug it's gonna leak like a sieve.

Yep, fags were easy, shake outta the pack, light up, smoke, flip the .... ( cigarette ...., that is...)

Cigalikes come closest to that in terms of being 'fairly' fiddle free at the expense of lacking serious oomph ... then a wide wide stretch with lots of choices... rebuildalbles at the other end of the spectrum. Some with more parts than a jet engine and twice the number of gaskets, some decptively simple. Braided coils ( another thread with pics ) that are small pieces of art, almost to nice to get them gunked up in an atty... You can vape or even turn it into a hobby...

I myself wasn't even planning on ditching smokes. Just got curious. Did some lookin 'n reading...and moved straight into DIY. Was experiencing the same as you right now :

Ready made liquids just didn't cut through all the accumlated crap clogging up my sensory wetware... Started with flavour percentages way above the recommendations found here.
Went also high and hard on the nic...

Fiddling/mixing ain't yours ... buy identical flavour, revv up ur liquids by adding a drop of flavour directly to it.
Maybe thicken it with a drop or two of pure VG..

Worth a try ...

Ages back, when learning to handle a bicycle as a kid, I was glad for every garbage can and lightpole I didn't wrap myself around...gradually the ones that missed me became more :)

So don't toss in the towel just yet :)

Wanting is important, so is final necessity. Plus, I don't want to have to attach an oxygen tank to my bike.

I was a long term smoker, but some around me started vaping. I listened to them talk and I Google'd some. Being around others helped me a lot.

When I first started, I tasted nothing. My taste buds were shot and needed to heal. That, for me, took a few months. So, my getting complex flavors was worthless. Peppermint flavor got through, though.

When I travel, I try to visit a vape lounge or two just to vape, listen and share. Also, here helps.

Good luck!

No matter what method is used to quit smoking most folks find it takes a good deal of will power to put them down for good.

As far as juice you enjoy goes, during the transition period from smoking to vaping your sense of taste is fairly outa whack, it may take some time depending on how much & how long you've smoked for your 'taste' to return / heal. One flavor that I couldn't stand the flavor of when I first started is now one of my ADV's.

The K1 glassomizer shouldn't leak or get juice into your mouth.
Make sure the head is tight into the base and all o rings are in place.
Could also be a bad head, try changing the head and be sure to properly prime it.
2-5 drops down the inside of the head to saturate the wicking material, fill tank thread base & tank together, thread onto battery, take several un powered primer puffs and allow to sit for a few minutes before pressing the fire button.
Too strong or fast of an inhale will flood the head causing gurgling, juice in mouth & leaking.
Changes in temperature & altitude can cause leaking & flooding.

Try getting some unflavored and finding a nic level that works for you with your equipment. Unflavored gives an experience like a light cigarette (not really the taste, but the feeling). It might be a little "boring" but it is less likely you'll get sick of it. You can expand into flavors from there and have unflavored as a fallback.

I always include some "plain" ejuice (unflavored) when introducing someone to vaping. If they get sick of flavors, they can have some plain, or put half plain half flavored in a tank to tone it down. Gives a more neutral starting point and more sense of control. I think more people would have an easier start if "plain" was part of their introduction.

Welcome - you are in the right place - don't give up 5 minutes before the miracle happens... you have the key element in place, a desire to stop smoking - the rest is just working out the details...

depending on how much/ type of cigs you were smoking, you may want to look at different gear - the ego style starter kits work awesome for some, not so well for others (I am currently in the process of haranguing a couple of buddies to take another shot at quitting based on this - the ego devices just did not give them a satisfying vape experience - I have encouraged them to try out the kanger subox kit - decent powered mod, good tank, versatile, fairly user friendly - and it provides a solid vape - only thing missing from that equation would be finding a juice you like)

may be as simple as finding a juice you actually like and that has a nic level commensurate with your smoking experience

big thing here is - don't give up, you can do this

I'm a new vaper too. Been off cigs for almost a month now. I'm completely satisfied with vaping and am really getting into it as a hobby. My experience is limited, but I thought I share some of my personal experiences.
1) I started at 24mg nic juice. As I got more experienced and got better gears, I'm now comfortable at 6mg.
2) Bold favor is probably better for beginner vapers as they can taste it easier on less vapor production. High PG juice also carry flavor much better in my experience, especially in a tank system. My original convenient store bought ecig only had two flavors available, regular and mentho. I can't really taste the regular tobacco flavor in the vape, but mentho is much more obvious and that's what I vaped for two weeks.
3) I haven't used the Halo tank system, but it looks like a top coil clearomizer to me based on online pictures. If that's the case, you may have to tip the rig upside down in between vapes in order for the wick to stay wet and for you to get good vapor.
4) Glass tank by itself won't give you better vapor. You need high powered rig. So higher voltage battery and lower ohm atomizer. If the Halo tank is using something like a 2.5ohm atomizer in the tank, it may not produce enough vapor for a heavy smoker to quit. The Aspire K-1 should have plenty of power. If you don't feel the vapor production is enough, you may want to get lower ohm BVC coils than the included 1.8ohm coil.
5) In my experience, at similar power level, bottom coil tanks like the K-1 is going to produce cooler vape than top coil tank such as the Halo. Smokers may prefer the hotter vape of top coil tanks. But I don't think there are new low ohm top coil tanks on the market. Is the Halo tank 510 threaded? If yes, you should be able to use it on the more powerful Aspire K-1 battery.
6) Bottom coil tanks like the K-1 is harder to refill. You have be careful not to get juice in the center tube. And condensation may form in the metal center tube and drip out when you tip it over. That's normal.

As said in another way above,,,
Do ya really want to throw in the Towel and wonder the rest of the days you have left on this Earth and what they WILL bring if you keep smoking; "IF I had given Vaping One More Day".
IF I tried One More Device.
IF I tried One More Juice.
IF I tried One More Way to make it work for me.
IF I Just Did IT.
IF.

Stay the Course and you WILL look back in hindsight and be able to proudly, happily, joyfully, and much more healthily replace every IF above with the words: SO GLAD.
That,,, IS a Promise.

Thousands of Us Here can factually attest to that Promise. We all are living it every day.
Join Us in the Blessings of that Freedom.
You CAN Do It.

Welcome, you are in the Right Place.
So Glad you are Here.

Welcome aboard. There has been lots of great advice already given in this thread and there isnt much i could add. All I can say is that if you really want to quit the analogs you can do it. Sample ejuice any chance you get, ask as many questions as you can possibly think of and you will eventually find the right setup for you.

I'm feeling pretty discouraged with vaping. I can't seem to get the hang of it and move away from the cigs.

I know it can be frustrating, but don't get discouraged. The hardest part (for me, anyway) was finding the right hardware and the right juice that made the experience good enough for me to put away the smokes for good. In all honesty, it did take some time, but once I found that "right" combination things got a LOT easier :) Even then, there is still some willpower involved. I did have occasional strong cravings for a little while after fully transitioning, but those will go away in time

Look at it this way: Just keep on trying and view every cigarette you DON'T smoke as another victory. Don't sweat the little roadblocks or setbacks and your end goal will arrive in time

When all else fails, just turn to the great people here on the forum and I'm sure you'll get more support than you could ever need. After all, most of of wound up here for the exact same reasons :)

I just wanted to add my voice to the chorus of support. Every vaper on here has a slightly different quitting experience, and everyone has had different levels of success over time. Some quit the cigarettes right away, some still smoke occasionally after years of vaping.
It's not impossible to quit smoking, because we are collectively a testament to what vaping can do.
You will find the right equipment, the right e-liquid, the right settings, and the right mindset to at the very least cut most of the cigarettes out of your life.

Hey there wyld one! Welcome. I hope you stick around, cause you have the desire to quit, but we just need to find you the right juice and the right hardware settings for you!
Do you have a shop near you? A lot of places will let you try, before you buy, so you would walk out with a flavor you like. I literally spent a hour at the shop last week, and got a flavor called Smurfette. Kinda a coconut custard, but you'd never know by the name.
The Halo kit looks kinda like the eVod kit I had...sort of a vape pen. The Aspire looks like a nice kit too. One thing that kept me from getting a mouthful of e-liquid was to wipe the coil before I reassembled it. Since the stem is small, even a drop clogs the hole and gives you liquid in your mouth. Also, are you letting the juice soak into the wick? Thats super important...you can't just fill and vape...it'll burn the cotton and ruin the taste for the life of the coil.
I wish I could help you more, but PLEASE stick with it. This community will help you out in any way possible. If I were close by, I would be more than happy to help, or point you to a place that could. I've gotten about 4 of my friends/family in the past month to quit and start vaping.

I don't know if this was mentioned, I didn't read all the posts. You can go to any e cig shop that sells juice and sample flavors until you find one you like. Didn't find one that you like? Just go on to another shop and sample more flavors.

Don't give up. It wasn't easy for me, I was strongly addicted to cigs. I ried e-cigs like Blu, then later NJOY rechargeable (4.5% nic, Bold flavor, also Gold at I think 2.4%) from online, then tried Vuze (4.8% nic) egics from the service station, and a lot of liquids from VaporFi, using all of those, I quit 8 months ago, lol.
What made it permanent though, is finding naturally extracted tobaccos (NETs, see Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux | E-Cigarette Forum ), and I now vape those at 18 mg to 24 mg nic, depending on the device (CE5+ clearomizer, 24 mg, Nautilus Mini, 16 to 18 mg nic). Higher PG/VG ratio gives a harder throat hit as well, so I go 70/30 to 50/50 PG/VG. And I still keep an NJOY and/or a Vuze around for a quick hard hit if needed when I don't have time to really vape.

Have you tried any of the cigalikes like blu or njoy, or greensmoke or v2cigs?

Just being able to cut down on the cigarettes would be a major hurdle.

I vaped only tobacco flavors for the first 6 months of vaping. Gave me the sence of smoking. I hated all flavors except the tobacco. Then after six months I got into coffees and Rootbeers, now into fruits. I now hate tobacco flavors. Rome was not built in a day. I smoked a few cigarettes for the first month or two of vaping. I never intended to fully quit smoking but rather just cut back. Then one day I thought about it and noticed I went three days with no smokes and from then on I have not even had a drag of one. Hang in there and take it easy and give yourself some time to get your gear working for you. Vaping is certainly not as easy as smoking but vaping is much more rewarding. CHEERS!
