Personally I'd be straight online to buy a kanger subox starter kit, a 18650 battery (efest 35a are good) and a charger, decent cheap one, like the nitecore v2..

Start with the 1.5ohm coil and go from there, don't go to high on your nic level, maybe 12mg for that coil, 6 to 3mg on the 0.5ohm (lung hits)

You may surprise yourself :thumb:

I smoked like a train for 30 years and the subtank mini got me off the cigs and I've not smoked since..

I am finding more success using WTA e-juice (whole tobacco alkaloid) than I ever have before. I still smoke a few cigarettes a day (been at it for 40 years) yet the WTA is helping me more than any other kind of nicotine juice. I decided to quit -again- only two weeks ago yet I have never done this well before. There are only two vendors that carry WTA; Aroma Ejuice Manufacturer of WTA Whole Tobacco Alkaloid Eliquid and mothersmilkwta.com. I like aroma juice yet am getting an order from mother's milk in the next day or two. Will compare and see what is best and let you know. If you want to know more about the science behind WTA's just do a search and you'll find several good posts. Good luck and don't give up as your health is worth it.

Agreed except for the battery. There are much better 18650s out there than the efest. Personally i recommend the VTC4 or LG HE4. I have some Samsung 25Rs in the mail, cant recommend them yet but judging by @Mooch bench test, i dont think i will be disappointed.

Its not that efest is a bad battery, but they are definitely NOT 35A as claimed. They are rewraps of other 20A and 30A cells.

Hi Wyld One and welcome aboard.

Don't give up. Smoke AND vape for a while if you have to - I did. Each cigarette you don't smoke is a victory!

Hope it helps and Happy Vaping!

Those K1 Glassomizers are a bit tricky and somewhat problematic when it comes to leaking juice. Try changing tanks to maybe a Nautilus or Nautilus Mini.

You are at a point that most of us have been to transitioning from analogs to e cigs and finding those juices that are most appealing. Nothing seems to taste right just after you make the switch and a juice might be good at first but tastes bad after a few minutes. I would suggest ordering from multiple vendors trying whatever sounds good to you. Don't be fooled by the hype of a juice or 5 star ratings; I've been burned by those quite often. Check out the reviews on here and see what others have to say. You do have to remember that taste is subjective, however. I've literally tried hundreds of juices in my 2.5 years of vaping. On average, at least my average, is I find one good juice that I like out of 3 from a specific vendor. That's overall, however, I read up and research a vendor now before I place an order and don't make impulse buys when I visit a vendor site I've never been to before like I used to and end up with 20 bottles of juice I can't stand.

I'd also suggest you trying out the Pay It Forward - PIF | E-Cigarette Forum threads here. I've found a lot of juices I like from the PIF, swaps and trades threads. I even found one of my 3 ADV's there!

Good luck and hang in there! Keep on trying until you find your ideal gear and juices you like! I know it can be frustrating at first and I struggled getting off the analogs when I first started vaping. I still smoke a couple of cigs a day, but compared to the 2 packs a day I used to smoke, that's a great victory for me having smoked those 2 PAD for 36 years!

Don't give up. It wasn't easy for me, I was strongly addicted to cigs. I ried e-cigs like Blu, then later NJOY rechargeable (4.5% nic, Bold flavor, also Gold at I think 2.4%) from online, then tried Vuze (4.8% nic) egics from the service station, and a lot of liquids from VaporFi, using all of those, I quit 8 months ago, lol.
What made it permanent though, is finding naturally extracted tobaccos (NETs, see Natural Tobaccos - Part Deux | E-Cigarette Forum ), and I now vape those at 18 mg to 24 mg nic, depending on the device (CE5+ clearomizer, 24 mg, Nautilus Mini, 16 to 18 mg nic). Higher PG/VG ratio gives a harder throat hit as well, so I go 70/30 to 50/50 PG/VG. And I still keep an NJOY and/or a Vuze around for a quick hard hit if needed when I don't have time to really vape.

A very good post! If you don't mind my asking where do you get your NETs from? Am still trying to find the perfect mix with ejuice. Am having good luck with WTA's (whole tobacco alkaloids) yet would like to try to mix unflavored WTA with some NET. Still smoke a few of the analogs yet after several attempts with vaping over the years this is the very best I've done. Am so grateful for WTA and love a good tobacco taste. Thanks for your help and have a great weekend!

The most important ingredient to quitting smoking is desire. Good juice is important, and so is the right gear. But without the determination to see it through, you won't. Neither is that about vaping, that's about life.

Let me say welcome to the board; we're glad to have you. We hope vaping will help you get off the stinkys and we are in your corner. Don't give up, my friend. Keep trying, change juice, change gear, whatever it takes. And come back here for moral support, or advice on gear or juice, whenever you need it.

    Good luck!

Yes, the desire and motivation to keep trying more juices and hardware! Seriously, if you can find stuff you really like, it will pull you away from the smokes. It could be slow or fast depending on many factors. I was lucky in one way in that I tried a juice early on, a chocolate-menthol mix, that really made me sit up and say "wow!" But then I became convinced it was causing a problem (it wasn't) so I quit vapor for over a year. Started remembering how much I liked it so I restarted, managed to stumble over great cheap gear which helped a lot. It still took 2 months to progress beyond the half-smoking point and 9 months to all but quit. I believe I slowly withdrew from the not-pure-nicotine component of cig addictiveness and vaping kept me from ever backsliding, as is usually the problem with and slow withdrawal situation.

As to hardware, it seems that everyone has to go through problems. What may work for one person another ends up hating because that's what they tried first. There's little tricks to it.

As to the K1, I've also had issues with the "non-Nautilus" Aspire stuff but many love it. The original BVC coils (which it probably came with) were hard to prime and can gurgle. One thing is they need more voltage than Kanger EVOD (original)and protank 2 I mostly use. They need 4.2 volts and UP, a plain battery probably can't boost voltage, you need at least a Spinner. Even then there's some need to fight gurgling before it gets out of control and you need to blow it out or take it apart: if you hear a little gurgle, lift the battery above the mouthpiece so juice in the tank runs away from the coil so the coil has to use up the excess. But don't do that on a bad gurgle because you'll get a mouthful. You may want to come back to it later and try something else first.

If you're young and not worn out from decades of smoking, you may want to leapfrog the older style stuff and go straight to more power. A new store here is thinking about offering as their starter kit the iStick 30 watt and the iSub tank rated for up to 35 watts! I can't see older smokers being able to handle that, though.

I was in the same boat as you. The mod/tank you choose is important if you want to quit smoking.

I started vaping in 2008 with a Janty Dura C which was awful since it gave me a burned plastic taste every 2 hits. Gave up on that although it did get me through 3 8 hour days of rigorous testing since I could sneak it into the testing room (looked like a pen) and just go to the bathroom to get a quick hit of nicotine.

3 years later I tried a iTaste MVP + Kanger Protank II combo which also failed me since I couldn't get a satisfactory throat hit that I loved with regular cigarettes. Didn't like mech mods since I was afraid a battery would vent and castrate me while keeping it in my pockets.

This year, I went with a sub ohm tank / regulated mod and I've been off cigarettes for almost a month now. I guess the technology finally caught up to where it suited my own preferences (tank system I can carry around comfortably + regulated mod for safety). Think it's the first time in almost 15 years that I've gone a day without a cigarette. I even smoked when I had acute bronchitis... I remember that because every drag almost made me pass out and put me into a fit of coughing. I started by lowering the amount of cigarettes I smoked (from a pack a day, to ~10 a day, to ~5 a day, to none). It's going to be a matter of trial and error on your part... finding the juices and equipment you like. I think I spent close to $400 on juices and equipment in the past month (but I was making stupid purchasing decisions) until I settled on something I finally found acceptable as an alternative to cigarettes. That may seem like a good bit of money, but for me it was pretty much a financial wash since I used to spend around $50 a week on cigarettes.

You guys are awesome. I can't believe how many have commented on this thread. I have to admit that some of what you're saying is complete jibberish to me, lol....I need to do a bit more research.
I have the desire to quit smoking and I have quit before (for over 2 years) so I know I can do it. I just thought vaping would make the process a lot easier......and then I got completely frustrated with this K1. I'm going to have to abandon this thing for now. After fiddling, cleaning and reassembling it, it was working great. Then about 5 minutes later juice was coming out of it everywhere again. It's brand new and I got an extra tank when I ordered it.....they both do it. The triton tank hasn't given me any issues. I am worried about some of my new juices I've yet to try because of the plastic tank (some juices can Crack them?) but that's the way I'm going for now. I don't understand the wattage talk and ohms etc. Simple is perfect for me for now and I have that with my titon tank. It's also short and so easy to conceal in my pocket at work.
I do apologize for the bit of a temper tantrum I started this thread with. Im going to stick around because I have a lot to learn and you all really are great and helpful. Thank you!

I remember thinking that I too, would be a smoker until I died from it. I was able to quit using a Triton and it wasn't always easy. After a couple of months I was able to a afford a Provari and a couple of Nautilus tanks. With time I discovered juices that worked for me. It's been over two years now and I am a confirmed ex-smoker. Give yourself a chance and you'll be able to say the same.

Hey Katie :) I'm on my way to a mini vacation in the mountains, but wanted to give you a reply. I get most of my NETs from www.Naturally-Extracted-Tobacco.com, e-liquids for electronic cigarettesmy favs, but recently bought some nice River Bottom Fog Sauce NETs from Vapingwatch.com, River Bottom Fog Sauce.
You'll find some good NET flavor reccomentations here:

I started out on something similar to the Halo Triton...pretty fool proof and they can be a good way to start vaping. My wife still uses them after 3 years of vaping. However, if you are using other tanks, then you are probably using adapters, so that can make things fiddly.

In my early experience, getting the right flavor was the hardest part, especially as my taste buds and sense of small changed. It took me 6 months to really find some things that I was content with. In the end, I finally realized that I just didn't like any flavors for very long, and ended up using unflavored liquid.

I'm disappointed for you. I have bought 5 or 6 K1 tanks and given them away in the hope of stopping people buying old-tech plastic clearomisers.

I think you got unlucky, I really do, unless....

    unless....

    (brain into motion....)

You know, if your battery is not Variable power, you are maybe doomed with those tanks.
The 3rd (or 4th?) most famous Vendor in the UK 'swears' by the K1. So do I.
However.... we are all using them at much more power than the Aspire 'kit' battery can deliver.

.. does that make sense? I bet they gurgle, spit and leak at under 9 or 10 watts... which is exactly the power you are running them at with a plain battery.

or have I missed something here? :)

So glad to see you're going to give it another try. It takes some time and experimenting, but you'll find things that you like, and just vaping will take up some of the time you used to have for smoking :)

If you need any help or advice, or just want to know what folks think about some piece of gear or juice you're thinking about getting, this is the place to ask. Plenty of friendly, helpful folks here just looking to assist.

wyld one please stick with it :) I used to be very heavy smoker till I tried the first e-cig I bought, 7 years ago today. That first e-cig was a ciggie lookalike (not much choice back then). It didn't stop me smoking completely, but I did cut down drastically & then with better kit, I got there :)

Hi, I've been a chain smoker for over 41 years. I got lucky and on the advice of a friend I started with an MVP 20w (and the vendor sent me Protank 3 tanks to use with it). The set up was easy (hah! It took me over a week to figure out how to use it!) enough so that I could just start to vape.

I found that I could vape through my cravings and soon found I was going days without smoking!

I've gotten different tanks since then (eleaf GS Air tanks) but I still use basically the same set up.

However, the road to setting aside all analogs has not been magical for me. I have been smoking one or two here and there at different points and I'm not happy about those. But for the rest of my days/weeks I'm vaping and I am happy about that. I'm still not smoking anywhere near like I was before I stopped and started vaping.

So this is just to show that everyone is different. I react badly at times to stress but for the most part I'm a vaper and an ex smoker. Compared to chain smoking I'm not smoking anymore.

Try some other tanks. Try the Nautilus or the GS Air tank (less than $10 and about $10 for a pack of 5 coils!) and see if they suit you better. Save the Triton for work or outside and get an MVP 3 (or even the 20 watt) for at home.

I hope you'll find the gear and juice that makes you feel confident about vaping. You'll be so proud of yourself again, and so amazed by how relatively easy it was, when you're a non smoking vaper.
