Back when I smoked and knew nothing of vaping, I remember seeing a guy carrying (what I know now as) an Innokin MVP and a Protank filled with a brown liquid. He was saying something about mixing and matching parts and filling the liquid, etc., and it was a bit daunting of a prospect. To go from simply pulling out a cigarette, lighting it, smoking it, and then tossing it, to maintaining an electronic device setup with refillable tanks and batteries seems over-the-top at first.
However, I wanted to quit, and I wanted to save money so I tried a Blu, and I did like the taste WAY BETTER than a cigarette. THAT'S when I decided to switch to vapor. I went for my first whole day with a Blu, and it only lasted about 4-5 hours. At that point I started my research into that big setup "that guy" had. I do have prior electronics tools and training, however. Multimeters, Ohms, and Watts were all familiar to me. Jumping into rebuilding only took about two weeks after my first setup (iTaste VV 3.0 & iClear16 tanks) bored me. Now I have a new hobby, while my amps and guitars sit and collect dust. Not everyone will take it to that level, especially anyone over 40.
I work with a 53 year-old female cig-a-like smoker who sees my DNA30/Kayfun or my Ithaka on a mech mod, and is FREAKED OUT. Every two weeks she asks the same questions: "How is yours different from mine?", or "Why is everything so big?"/"What is the point of that?". My only answer is more power, more vapor, more battery life, better flavor. She doesn't care. Her weenie "GreenSmoke" does the trick for her, and the idea of a mech or filling a tank is insane to her. Everyone is different, and will commit to vaping at different levels of financial investment and time dedication.
Cig-a-Like smokers don't know what they're missing. Ignorance is bliss?
