Back when I smoked and knew nothing of vaping, I remember seeing a guy carrying (what I know now as) an Innokin MVP and a Protank filled with a brown liquid. He was saying something about mixing and matching parts and filling the liquid, etc., and it was a bit daunting of a prospect. To go from simply pulling out a cigarette, lighting it, smoking it, and then tossing it, to maintaining an electronic device setup with refillable tanks and batteries seems over-the-top at first.

However, I wanted to quit, and I wanted to save money so I tried a Blu, and I did like the taste WAY BETTER than a cigarette. THAT'S when I decided to switch to vapor. I went for my first whole day with a Blu, and it only lasted about 4-5 hours. At that point I started my research into that big setup "that guy" had. I do have prior electronics tools and training, however. Multimeters, Ohms, and Watts were all familiar to me. Jumping into rebuilding only took about two weeks after my first setup (iTaste VV 3.0 & iClear16 tanks) bored me. Now I have a new hobby, while my amps and guitars sit and collect dust. Not everyone will take it to that level, especially anyone over 40.

I work with a 53 year-old female cig-a-like smoker who sees my DNA30/Kayfun or my Ithaka on a mech mod, and is FREAKED OUT. Every two weeks she asks the same questions: "How is yours different from mine?", or "Why is everything so big?"/"What is the point of that?". My only answer is more power, more vapor, more battery life, better flavor. She doesn't care. Her weenie "GreenSmoke" does the trick for her, and the idea of a mech or filling a tank is insane to her. Everyone is different, and will commit to vaping at different levels of financial investment and time dedication.

Cig-a-Like smokers don't know what they're missing. Ignorance is bliss?

I personally thought the Blu's tasted like crap, but if she likes the taste of pipe tobacco, oh well...

I started with an eRoll, beautiful little cig-a-like. Had no idea what I was missing, but I did quit smoking. Then I got my iTaste, trashed the IClear16's, and bought a T3S... THEN I knew I really had quit smoking.

Baby steps... baby steps. Smokers are very attached to that small cylinder... ;)

EDIT: I was also terrified of e-juice... till I spilled a bunch on my hands, washed it off in a panic... and didn't get sick or die. Then I was terrified of dry-burning... till I did it a few times, didn't kill the atty, and didn't burn the house down. Now I'm working on my terror of rebuilding... that should be over with later this week. :D New things are always scary... especially when you pair those new things with quitting smoking... TERRORS! :D

Regardless of your personal opinion on the cig-a-likes like Blu and other similar brands, one should rejoice that someone is taking their first steps to get away from smoking.

How would you like it if you were a new vaper, thought the Blu's were great because they have kept you off cigarettes for months, and you trip across a thread like this? Yeah, I wouldn't like it very much, either, and I'd probably go someplace else that didn't portray an "elitist" attitude and look down upon those who DO like the smaller setups.

We get it. You don't like 'em. But it's no reason to crucify someone for giving them a shot.

I have to ask where you heard this? Office water cooler? NY Times?

I think it was ECF or Vaper's Den. It's not hard to believe... e-liquid contains 100 percent freebase nicotine, if you get it on your skin it's going somewhere. It's not the same as rubbing tobacco on your skin (which can actually make a person sick as well).

100%???????????

Geez... my 6mg e-juice contains 0.6 percent!!!!!!!!

100mg e-juice contains 10 percent!!!!!!!!!

Free-base? That's not nicotine you're talking about, but a much more addictive substance.

No, it doesn't. And the discussion of 100% nicotine base is not permitted on ECF.

The powers to be have perfected using media for the purpose of propaganda. It never ceases to amaze me how people accept as fact what is presented as conjecture. Kind of reminds me of the biblical saying "Believe and ye shall be saved". The trouble is what are we being saved from? Ourselves?

I think some caution is due concerning e-liquid. People have ended up in emergency rooms spilling e-juice on their bed accidentally.

from symptoms of paranoia, hypertension, headaches, internal bleeding or what?

i don't doubt this statement one bit. people vary greatly from hypochondriacs to those more akin to myself that only go to a doctor when in dire need. however, i believe context is more important than the statement itself.

for example, i've spilled a few ml of 100mg/ml on my pants and wore them in contact with my leg while vaping all day without incident.

6 or 7 years ago I got hustled into one of those "Smoke Anywhere" kits they sell at the mall. I paid like 100 bucks for it, and by the time I left the mall I felt sick just from the sample. Of course there were no refunds. I still have that POS kit somewhere in this house. A little over a year ago, I bought a Blu disposable with every intention of buying their $90 starter kit. I just didn't like the taste. At that time, we had one B&M about 30 miles from me (we now have about 20 in a 30 mile radius). They sold me a Smoov cigalike starter kit for 100 bucks. A total ripoff, but this place is now notorious for ripping people off. It worked though. It turns out that I just didn't like tobacco flavors. Within a couple weeks I had an MVP and a ProVari. Filling those cartos was a PITA. My point is that those of us on this forum are kind of the exception to the rule, as far as the trouble we are willing to go through to find an alternative to smoking. Most people don't want the hassle. Blu's are still far cheaper than cigarettes. They are easy to use, and they are available nearly everywhere that cigarettes are available. Blu is the mainstream.

Found the article about the bed, and guess what??? It was the NY Times article: http:// mobile.nytimes. com/2014/03/24/business/selling-a-poison-by-the-barrel-liquid-nicotine-for-e-cigarettes.html?referrer=

It was the Kentucky woman story again. If I recall, the other version of this story is the tank burst in her pocket while at work. I have yet to find the 'actual' story of the Kentucky woman. More fear mongering. The same article implies that there has been a death from it, from injection. I don't know about you, but even though I have blunt tip needles, I wouldn't inject e-liquid into myself. I truly don't understand how reporting news agencies can imply that this form of suicide was a result of vaping.

Big nanny is always ready to save us from ourselves... :D Too bad it's the ONLY thing no one can save us from! :D

I even have one with a sharp point on it... but I'd never waste my e-juice injecting it!!! Or drinking it!!!

Here's what it is: vapers have proven they're several steps up the intelligence ladder, just by using e-cigs to get off cigarettes. This is very offensive to the "average" intelligence, so they have to make us all out to be total idiots. It's the only way they can save face.

There is nothing wrong with a blue or an njoy. I like the njoys. (Disposables)One doesn't have to worry about charging, pressing a button, atties, coils or anything. You can even hold them in your mouth like a real smoke.

I keep White Clouds on hand when I need that cig feel. They are less expensive than njoys.. but the njoys have more of the feel.

Well, I guess beer contains 100% freebase alcohol !

Fascinating use of the word 'contains'; you get that sort of spin on tv advertising.
