After researching I have come to the conclusion that... I have a lot of questions.

I am a very light smoker(2 a day) and of those 2 smokes a day I am usually content after 2-4 drags. For this reason I am leaning towards a 510 since they are more compact and less eye catching than the larger models. I notice just about everyone on this site recommends the ego over the minis so I wont rule that option out if they are truly superior.

Questions:

1) Does the ego have any advantage over the 510 other than battery life? Battery life is not a huge concern to me due to my limited use and I greatly prefer the look of the minis.

2) Of the three types(atomizer, cartomizer & tank) which is the best. I am having trouble discerning which is the better. Reliability is the most important factor to me however I do not mind tinkering and DIYs to get the best results.

3) The Ego and Kgo both get good reviews and appear very similar to me. Is the Ego worth the extra $$$. The price tag is a bit more than I would ideally like to spend but I would rather pay once for a good product than pay twice for a mistake.

4) Is the Ego-c something I should be considering?

m60lmg, given your present smoking habit I would quit cigarettes right now, cold turkey and stay away of nicotine altogether, including e-cigarettes. That's my best advice.

If you must continue with an e-cigarette a Blu or most any ego type will suit your needs with about a 650mAh battery. No need for you to go with a larger battery than that. I'd go for one with 510 connection and use LR cartos, but that's just my choice.

If that's all you are smoking, the 510 with standard (3ohm) cartos will server your needs.

Get standard 3ohm cartos. They are simple, reliable and disposable.

Do you really need the extra power? As long as you have a spare battery and a spare charger and spare cartos, you are set.

I think I agree with yzer, in that you could probably quit smoking now and never look back.

However, if you feel you need to keep up with something in order not to go into or back to heavier smoking, then I also believe you should stick with the "mini" or the battery of your choice that looks like a cigarette. They are less expensive and though need more charging than most larger batteries such as the eGo, with your current habit, you will not need to charge them often. I preferred the 808 style over the 510, but that was personal choice for convenience sake on my part.

I seriously would rather see you quit than find another habit, even though vaping can be, and is, done with 0 nicotine strength.

Good luck with what you decide, friend. If you choose vaping, we will be here for you.

1. I tried ego/kgo. Battery life was good, over 1000mah at that time was something great. 3.7v soon turned out to be not enough. Small VV devices came to play. Probably bringing here ProVari Mini or SVR would not be a best example since they are on the expensive side
2. Its good to have (or al least try) all 3 of them. You might be surprised to that you might not like some or love all of them. If you're a dripper and need to change juices very often go with atomizers - best life span.
Cartos will let you enjoy the juice for longer between refills + are very very cheap - Boges.
Tanks, ah tanks, great for all day same juice vape :)

A mini may very well serve you well for now. However, if you are like most of us here, you end up vaping a lot more than you ever smoked, just because you can, it tastes great, you can do it inside,.... and so on. Therefore, if that ends up being you, too, you may soon find that the mini just isn't doing the job and you need something bigger.....

I thought I would vape just like I smoked. A few puffs, put it down for an hour, maybe 2, then again a few puffs.... Not so. This thing is glued to my left hand all day!!!!!!!!!! LOL!

As for the cartos, they only sell 3 different KR808D-1 kits that I saw (at vaporkings)and each kit has 6 cartos. That should last you quite sometime IMO, they will probably dry out before you use them lol. As for liquid find a few different vendors and order some samples. ECBlend, vaporbomb are 2 with decent prices for samples. Hope this helps and welcome to ECF!!!

Thanks for the advice everyone! I think I will give the KR808D from vaporkings.com a try. How many cartos and bottles of e- liquid would you recommend I purchase? Also if anyone is familiar with their brand can you recommend me some flavors. If I am forgetting anything let me know.

That seems like one of the best choices for you. I started with (and still primarily use) a similar 808 kit for another vendor. Like others have already said, don't get automatic batteries if you are going to fill your own cartomizers as they have the propensity to leak and destroy the battery. From the looks of vaporkings website, this isn't a problem since all of their 808 starter kits come with manual batteries (they call them "pushbutton").

I have only ever tried their coffee flavor, which isn't bad (although it is not my favorite coffee flavor that I have tried either). If I were you, I would get 1-2 10ml bottles of 6mg strength and another 1-2 at 0mg. With how little you smoke, it is likely that you will be able to kick nicotine altogether with relative ease (if that is what you are trying to do). Otherwise, 6mg will probably be sufficient for your needs. I was relatively light smoker (approximately 1/2-3/4 of a PAD) before I started vaping. Currently, I am vaping 0 or 6 mg juices and plan on sticking exclusively to 0 mg in a couple of weeks. Good Luck!

The 808 sounds like a good choice, since you've decided to go this route.

The kit you've chosen will likely be ok (I used their diamond tip 808 before they had these kits), but I'm pretty disappointed they'd make you jump right into buying liquids by only giving you blank cartos to start. Not sure what is up with that. Also, if you look for a pcc, look for a different one other than the "smart pcc" they have - I had it too (still do), and it does not do a good enough job of charging batteries for the price. So, yes, I experimented a little before landing with what suited me best.

Here comes my recommendation, before you purchase that kit, please check those from Smokeless Image. The same size kit is only a shade cheaper, but you have a few more color options, you can choose sealed automatic or manual (push button) batteries or one of each, and at least you can get a pack of prefilled cartos in the flavor you want, Smooth Sampler would be my first recommendation. You may want to spring for a Strong Sampler and a Sweet Sampler, as well, to test multiple flavors. Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Volt - Standard Starter Kit - Starter Kits

Also, use the coupon code VoltSave to get 16% off your first order. You should at least save a buck or two if you're jumping into the vapors' pond for the first time. :)

I was a much heavier smoker than you, and I love my 808 Volt from smokeless image.

I don't mind hitting a button on a larger mod, but I prefer an automatic battery on 808. It's most like the action of smoking a real cigarette so, for me, it made the transition easier. Smokeless Image now has sealed automatic batteries also so that the occasional drip isn't a problem. I've been using their batteries for almost a year and haven't had a single one die, even the older ones that weren't sealed. If you go with a cartomizer setup whatever you choose, you should take the cartos off the battery when you fill them and you'll be ok. You just can't drip into them on the fly, but I only have to remove them for refill (or keep several in rotation so that you can just swap it for a new one until you refill them all) about twice a day. As little as you smoke you would probably be less frequent. Frankly, even if you go with manuals-if you flood a carto you're going to have to remove it to blow it out before it will vape right anyway.

That being said....even being careful you can still get a residue buildup over time from minute amounts of liquid that seep through the hole over time and will eventually have an effect on metal to metal contact. I clean mine with a q-tip dipped in alcohol every month or so and it's all good.

In my honest opinion, you should go with something you could picture yourself in. Get something you like, and you will tend to use it. Get something other people likes, and hope that you like it too is a bit of a risk.

That said, i was overwhelmed with what this place has to offer upon chancing on this forum when i was thinking of making the switch. Finally went with an ego-T as i didnt mind a "non-cigarette-look-alike" pv.

The term "stuck in my left hand" aptly describes my current situation. Love it, but not sure if its good. lol.

Alright, good news my Kr808d-1 is here! That was fast. Bad news, I think my instruction manual was written by an inebriated Cambodian pirate. I was able to find videos on how to fill the cartomizer but nothing on the battery. Can anyone tell me how long I need to charge it and if there is any indicator when it is done? If there is any other noob advice need let me know. Anxiously awaiting my first vape!

Just throwing out an experience for you. I've had an eGo 650mAh battery sitting around unused for at least 6 months, and from testing it today it's still holding a charge. So if you did get an eGo, you'd probably not have to charge it often..

-edit
Just saw your post saying you got a KR808d. I do hope you enjoy it :). Congrats and welcome to vaping.
