The two reasons Provari gets my vote instead of a Darwin is that the Darwin has to be sent in to replace the battery, every year or two, depending on how much you vape. And, secondly, you can not conveniently put a tank on the Darwin because of the folding arm. I don't own a Darwin so if this is not right, please correct me.

just get off those ego ts. Anything is better. If you have to top off, refill, redrip, deal with a flavor that is slightly off....whatever. At least you can still vape. Those ego ts were the single most frustrating time in my vaping life because I was on my last cartomizer when I decided to see what the tank was all about and left myself high and dry. Go to a store or mall and get an overpriced atomizer if you need to for the next couple of days while shipping is still slow. I do hope you are not in the same boat I was in and have something to use as a back up while you wait.......

My best advice is . . . get a Reo which is a 3.7 volt bottom feeder. Built like a tank, very convenient, no fuss. A very consistent and versatile mod, about 150.00 plus batteries, charger, and cartos.

I strongly second the recommendation for a Reo Grande. It's about as futz-free as a vaping instrument can be at this point in time. If it's too big, then check out a Reo Mini: same basic electro-mechanical design, but smaller and with a 3 ml. bottle.

If I had a nickel for every new vaper who comes in this forum with eGo tank issues, I'd have a Darwin.

Hee hee! Where do I send your nickel?

I was so frustrated with the ego-T systems... they were terrible. I loved the vendor, but hated the product (wasn't their fault at all).

I'm on the CE2 style fat wick "Visions" clearomizers from GotVapes. For the most part they've been solid for me - only frying after a failed dry burn post-cleaning. Still, they're cheap enough to replace. I've never got a dry hit out of them, the juice tastes good, and even if they're a bit fiddly to fill (I drip the liquid down the side, not bothering with syringes and such) they're pretty easy to deal with.

I vape them on a variety of eGO batteries, from the small ones to a variable voltage ego pass-thru. The GV "CE2" visions are a good product, and the vendor is top notch.

I'm on the echo. That's how frustrating my experience was. It's a simple high mah automatic PV and the cartomizers last all day and can be cleaned and reused for months, even taken apart and rebuilt like the gogo. Still, it's a 3.7-4.2v. Always consistent and always good. It's definitely what I wanted and more. Except for those times I want more.....Every thread I read recommending VVs and 5vs get me that much closer to getting there...

My recommendations are...

Reo Grand by reosmods.com - can use 3 different types of batteries for 3 different voltages. 6ml bottle. All mechanical. Downfall..bulky but worth it to me.

Riva Indulgence V3 by elitevaporworks.com or vapingzone.com - all mechanical. Can use 3 differenty types of batteries for 3 different voltages. Use Boge 3.0ohm on it at 6V...will rock your world. Haven't found any downfalls to it yet.

BuzzPro by notcigs.com - variable voltage. Uses regular resistance atomizers or cartomizers. I solely am a cartomizer user and these mods are fantastic. Not too heavy like the ProVari is. Buzzkill stands behind his mods and customer service is great.

Since the Darwin has an overall two year warranty, whereas the Provari has only a one year warranty and the battery on the Darwin comes with a one year warranty, it would definitely be in the 2 -3 year time frame before you need to replace the battery. Evolv has factored that most will get 2+ years on one 1800 mAh battery that comes with the Darwin. And who in there right mind doesn't have a back up PV to use for the 4 -5 days it would take to get your battery replaced??? And how many models have a battery that will last 2+ years? Definitely not the Provari.

I don't use tanks but I do use the mega dual coil EMDCC's which are quite fat, on the Darwin and have no problem closing the arm. I'm not knocking the Provari as so many Provari users knock the Darwin. I think it is one of the best models on the market. But because it is variable voltage and not power regulated, variable wattage like the Darwin, it can't match the features or consistency of the Darwin, which is one of the issues that the OP was looking for.

I have had enough. Here is where I am and I need to step up to a CONSISTENT setup, dont care about looks and cost is no object. I have an ego t, the tank doesnt leak but I am very tired of dry hits, adjusting wicks, inconsistent hits and so forth. Nothing worse than waking up at 2 am and have to play around for 15 minutes adjusting a wick or replacing atty.

I need links to a setup that would be considered the absolute best! I need the ferrari of devices, where is it?

PS WHEN the ego tank WORKS its fabulous, but I am tired of tinkering.
Hmmm.. I'd slow down bit with that money is no object mindset.

You will get a ton of input, and 100% of it is subjective, including this post.

There are simply to many variables to offer a one size fits all solution, which is common in in most consumer offerings. I use a mac, and chances are you don't... simple preference.

The best advice i can give is cheaply explore the options, and then zone in to what you like. Look to see if there is a regional group and use that to try some things out.

Personally, I'm using a GGTS, with UFS V2 with a 3.5ohm dual carto at 7.4v with KBV "wtf"... awesome for me, perhaps not so for you. Different strokes for different folks, as they say.

Just saying', don't blindly throw money at stuff that's just going to be in the classifieds.

Its been 3 months of nothing but mediocre results, all sorts of cheap chinese junk. Time to throw some money at it and find out where the good chinese junk is that performs. Simple to me.

IM leaning here, who has experience with this setup?

Dual Coil 510 Tank Cartomizer

Hi Woody,

I am puffing on one of these right now. It is not the 5 ml one, it is the 3.5 ml. I like it so much that I have an order in for 2 more small ones and 2 big ones! They are easy to fill by sliding the carto out and dripping down the side of the tank. I don't have any syringes so that method works for me. So far I have had no leaks and no problems, and I have been using it for over 2 weeks. I have been using the pre-punched carto that came with it and the tiny hole seem to do the trick. No dry hits or burning and not flooding out either.

I will say that I tired this tank on my ego batteries and the hit was a little light. I got an Infinity Pro mod for Christmas, set my voltage to around 4.2 and the tank is great on that. The Infinity Pro is sold by NotCigs.com, the same people that make the Buzz Pro. It is a very nice mod for only around $100.00.

If you wanted something for your ego batteries, I can certainly recommend the Ego Mega Dual Coil Carts, found here, eGo-Mega-Dual-Coil-Cartomizer. I use those with both the iPro and my ego batteries. They hold alot of juice, the flavor is great, and the hit will floor you. I could get a good 6 hours out of them before topping off, and I vape alot!

I have been right were you are. I liked the ego-T, then suffered alot of problems with them. I finally switched over to carto's and have been very happy. Those Mega's should do the trick for you for now, and if you decide to go the VV path, you won't be disappointed with the tanks from MadVapes.

Hope this helps.

Tycho

The Darwin is made in Ohio. Designed by two electrical engineers. But on the attys and cartos, they're all Chinese. You have a number of different and good suggestions on this thread.

Ok I have that exact carto, smok dual coil. Why does it suck? I filled it with a syringe and the hit is non existant and very airy?

I bought a Provari and 3 days later my 1st GLV - a GLV3 mini - arrived from a trade - after that the Provari was getting about an hours use a day! The ergonomic design, greater tactility (due mainly to size) and the button on the GLV are just perfect - for me!
I've since sold the Provari and used the money for a Lava Tube and a new GLV2 mini!
Different Strokes for different Folks!
Best advice would be get thyself to a Vapemeet and try a few to see if thee like them!

Fair enough.

I have a a provari, and 2 GGTSs, one of them untouched due to it being rather unique. The provari is with my brother in law who took to vaping while I was home for the holidays. I'd like it back at some point, so I recommended the 5v WOW mod at COV once it's available, as well as the ikenvape attys at 3.5 ohm. Once he's settled into that I'll probably send up some more stuff.

The best vape I ever had was a 1.5 Dual coil at 6.0v on my GGTS. The proveri wouldn't even fire it, and rightly so, as the battery drain was pretty extreme given Ohm says that's 24 watts. (My battery life was of course pathetic) Point being, getting to that perfect vape might take some understanding of what's actually happening.

IMO, get the cheapest devices you can get, at 3.7, and 5 (maybe 6) , and the best attys you can get to match, and zone in to what you like... Then, spend the money, and sell the experiments, or PIF them.

I Completely ignored the concept of the "daily vape" which should factor in as well..
