After seeing so many carto tanks topping people's Provari's on here, I feel obligated to try it out and get one. I wanted to post here, because this is where I mainly see them. I have read the guide on them made by Baditude and from what I can tell, you just buy the tank + the tool + cartos and that's it. What I want to know, is what is a good one? I don't really mind the money spent, because I'll buy it in awhile after I save up and can spend the money, but I don't want a garbage one that I'll want to upgrade later. I want to skip the baby steps.

I'd also really appreciate links to cartos (I'm stupid and have no idea which are good and which aren't) and the price comparison to using say a Kanger Protank and having to buy replacement heads. How much more $$ is it to use a Carto tank? Also, pros and cons to using a cartotank compared to a clearo like the Protanks (well, Aerotank to avoid the leaking discussion of it).

I'm really liking how they look on Provari's and with mine on it's way, it definitely has me interested. Plus the juice capacity is really high it seems while not looking like it's a massive tank.

You prefer single coils? I figured I'd buy dual coils to get higher volts and more vapor. I like the warmer vape too, but I'm still pretty new so maybe single coils work best with cartos or something. Is that just personal preference?

Would this be fine in Standard resistance with Stainless color?

Anyway… I will always recommend a Kayfun Lite, Russian, good dripper over any carto set up. That is all I use on my Provari. These devices have ruined cartos for me, the vape is %110 better in my opinion and once you get past the learning curve they have never failed me. And no overhead with buying coils and/or carts. It's so easy to wrap a coil and feed some cotton through it and cape away.

Those cartomizers won't work unless you punch holes into them, that is if you're planning on using a tank. If you're just gonna use the cartomizer they'll be fine.

Cartomizer brand options are Boge, Ikenvape, and Smok (Smoktech). All are a little different from one another and everyone has their preference. I suggest trying a couple of each brand and see which you prefer. I personally prefer Ikenvape standard resistance Platinum or 510 Fusions; Smoktech single coil 3.0 ohm 2 hole as backups.

Pre-punched cartos run about $2 each and should last 2 - 3 weeks (about the same time a coil head in a clearomizer lasts). I feel you get better flavor and consistancy from a cartotank than you can from a clearomizer.

Clearomizers depend upon tiny silica wicks to bring the e-liquid to the heating coil. That's a very small surface area of wick material. These little wicks can have trouble keeping up with moderate to heavy vaping, leading to dry hits or burnt wicks and inconsistancy.

Cartomizers are full of wick material surrounding the heating coil. Thats a very large surface area comparitively, allowing better juice delivery to the heating coil and allowing better flavor and consistancy.

Is It a Carto, a Tank, or What?

Single coil carts have always worked better for me. Dual coil carts sometime have an issue keeping the top coil wet, leaving the user pulling the drip tip and checking the polly fill and dripping some extra juice into the top. With a 2.0-2.5ohm cart I've always got a good vape, not the warmest, but satisfying. Nothing will beat a rebuildable tank, RDA etc...

As someone who foolishly ignored bad's advice at some other thread, I am repentant and would suggest single coils over double any day. First of all there really isn't much noticeable performance upgrade over a single coil.

But more importantly, it's an absolute nightmare making sure that the top half of the carto is saturated with juice. With the top coil burning off juice and the inherent challenge in getting juice higher up, I find myself having to perpetually do deep primer puffs to get the top half wet and juicy. And that's with a 50/50 juice. As far as I'm concerned, I'm sticking to single coils. I use smok cartos and they work great for me.

I might get crap for saying this, but I actually find that some juice tastes so much better in a cartotank than KFL. That's coming from someone who has 6 authentic kfl and r91.

P.s. Like you, I was tempted into cartotanks by Baditude hahaha

Definitely get a tank tool for your cartotank. Either the combo tool by IBTanked or the Slap Yo Moma tool by Big Daddy Vapor.

I found dual coil cartos to be difficult to keep adequately saturated with juice, leading to burnt tasting flavors. I've had much better luck with single coil cartos.

In a nutshell: IBtanked is good quality at a pretty low entry price, and they sell cartos at good prices, too.
If you want to "dive in" and get fancier tanks, I'd suggest Loki Labs, or SnP, or Kir Fanis for step-up tanks, and IkenVape for cartos.
I don't think there's a benefit to a dual carto - I'd get some LR and SR single coils and decide which of those you prefer...

Regarding cost - you'll spend $1.50 for a carto, and it will last longer than you could use a ProTank coil without cleaning - but it's truly disposable - you can't clean it or rebuild it...

Amen. For me it was wonderful to have my search end once I got my Kayfun.
Well, almost end until I got a Russian 91 to back up the Kayfun.

Cartos are great for many, not me.

I like single coil 3 ohm cartos for the ProVari. I use Ikenvape or Smok, depending.

I also prefer flanged cartos to nonflanged.

Oh, thanks a lot...Every thing was so easy until you showed me that! I was about to pick up a tank from IBTanked but that one looks ....ing amazing. I can just imagine it now on my SS Provari when it gets here along with the beauty ring. I thought 22m was flush with the Provari though? You recommend 23mm?

I'm just hoping this isn't more complicated than that, or much more expensive than what I'm already paying on a monthly basis.

A lot will depend on your juice - how dark/thick it is - and your budget. I love the Phiniacs because I like the plain black endcaps and the customized tanks although they're more expensive. I have IBTanked tanks, too, and they ARE simply the best value for the money.

The cartos you end up using will also factor in. The best are Ikenvapes although they're harder to find in stock. I didn't like the Boges because I prefer flanged bottoms and I like 3 ohm cartos for my ProVaris.

The Provari's body is 23mm and the top cap is 19mm.
