Aga-t, troubleshooting coil issue. - YouTube

I took a video of what's happening. I just purchased this Aga-T recently, and had a pro from the forums here make my wick, of which an excellent job was done. I've run a few tanks through, and so was attempting to wipe out the inside cap and pull the wick to burn the gunk off the coils, but unfortunately the coils weren't easily releasing. I figured "screw it, it should last for awhile longer", but was getting a short error on my vamo(vision), and ultimately was unable to correct it no matter how much coil wriggling I did.

So, after watching a few videos (mind you, I've been rebuilding my phoenix MOV A7 for months, without any similar issue, this is simply my first stainless mesh), I coiled it up, got them all glowing, but as soon as I threw the cap on, the hits were really harsh with little vapor.(now I am attempting a 100% VG juice, but my normal blend is 75vg/25pg, and the viscosity isn't that different between the two, plus it seems to be wicking well enough).

When I pop the cap off, I have what happens at :20 secs into the video...the coil bursts into flames. I repeated this effect a few times, while trying to figure out what I did wrong, hence why I chose to take a video of it and ask the community what I'm missing.

Also, my battery and mod got a little warm during the test fires, it's a 18650 3000mah trustfire(with protection circuit), on a vision vamo.

tl;dr: after watching the video, what am I doing wrong, and how do I fix it?

What are your ohms and volts?

As quick as those things are lighting up, and as bright as they're getting it looks like the coil is getting too much power.

Interesting.

Fire Marshall Bill is going to think I'm stalking him with all these phone calls.

ETA: I know it's a straight wick and all, but is it kinked any? That'll keep it from wicking for sure.

It is a hollow wick. It was made by someone here on the forums, at a recent vape meet, and leave it to me to manhandle it in less than a week. At least I think it's a hollow wick, though it was rolled without a center fill to keep it from closing, it did have enough room to have a holder for the oxidation process, about a paperclip thick.

Is there any way to "unkink" the wick, if that's the issue, or is it ruined, and will have to be replaced? I know the coil is "right", because I've been doing rba's(silica phoenix and eternity) for a few months now, and there's no shorts (no fireworks) and as the vid shows, no hotspots (even glow)

First of all you have a 3/4 full tank and your coils are glowing. That means you have no wicking. Don't worry about the flame, fix the no-wicking issue.

When ever I ran the AGA-T with a hollow wick it would not wick fast enough for moderate vaping. I had to keep the fill screw out to compensate, and do the genny tilt. Once I started rolling solid wicks from 1.5" x 3" mesh, that problem disappeared,no genny tilt, fill screw in.

That thing must hit as harsh as Mike Tyson.

To loosen your wick from your coil, dry burn your coil a few times to burn up anything that is caked up on it. Then (wait for it to cool) grab the tip of the wick between your thumb and middle finger nails. twist it back and forth until it spins a little, then you can work it out of your coil.
