Aga t issues.

So... I received my Aga t today, after some trial and error I got the wick and coil working ( properly I think ). But after a tank of juice I'm still not getting much vapor, not even close to what I get from a normal 510 carto. Any suggestions?

Ps I'm using 400 stainless mesh and 32g wire 4 wraps on a lavatube now at 3.7v

Few things... Did you use the mesh that came with it? I found it was insufficient to make a stainless-only wick, though might work if you rolled cotton or silica inside of it. How many wraps did you make on the coil? Are you lining up the air hole drilled into the top cap with the wick's position on the tank? What device, what ohms on the coil, and what voltage?

For the record, I've found that my Genesis style tanks take more heat to get going -- but once they do they rock. I'm usually pushing somewhere between 11 and 13 watts on mine.

4 wraps, likely around 1.8-2.0 ohms. Might want to check it to be sure (if the lavatube doesn't have an ohm checker, you can use a multimeter). Try bumping it up to 3.9-4.2 and see how that affects it. You may just not be giving it enough juice

Making a kink on both ends of coil really helped me with hotspots. Try reducing UR resistance as well

What did your coil check out with in ohms?

I just put mine together tonight. First ss wick (500) and coil (32 wire). My ohm test out 1.3 ohm on the Provari. Nice even glow on all the coils. I'm getting a ton of vapor at 3.4 volts on the Provari. Not the greatest flavor production, but I hear the wick/coil setup needs to settle for a couple of tankfulls before that happens.

Baditude: Definitely give it a tank or 2 before you decide on the flavor production qualities. The wick needs a definite break in. Also, I find that bolder flavors work better in them -- I was able to tune mine for more delicate fruity flavors, but vapor production was lacking. Admittedly, I've only done a few of my more delicate flavors in one at this point though

I had my favorite coffee flavor in it at first, but it wasn't pleasant. I removed that and put in a cinnamon flavor in, it's much better, but not as good as in a cartotank yet. The vapor production is quite impressive though.

Which coffee is it? Coffee is actually my favorite in my Mini DID knockoff -- Virgin's Caramel Kona Milkshake and/or Kona Velvet Milkshake (oftentimes mixed) -- and it tastes better in there than anything else I've tried. I did run through several tanks worth of other juices before getting to trying it initially though -- so the seasoned wick may make a difference. Depending how strong your cinnamon is tho, may not have an easy time getting the residual flavor out of the wick!

if you new at genesis RBA, you have to buy some long kanthal wire and just try and try. you will eventually get it. after you vape a properly set genesis you will never look at your old devices the same way.

by the way is your top cap a friction one? with 4 wraps you looking at 2.4-2.6 ohms

I don't get anywhere near that kind of resistance from 4 coils -- 4 coils is consistently 1.8-2 ohms. What gauge Kanthal/Nichrome are you using? Leftopolis tested his and said it reads at 2.0. I'm pretty sure its just a matter of not putting enough wattage into driving it, on top of seasoning a new wick.

Leftopolis: Just make sure the air intake on the top cap is as close to the wick as possible, and walk up the voltage til you start getting vapor production at a level you'd like. It may take a tank or 2 before the flavor really starts to shine though, like Bad mentioned above.

i get around 2.4 with 32 G but thats not important. my meter might not be good or something. my point is that with this type of atomizers you can't just make them work and that's it. they do tend to work in most cases, but it will take practice to make them work properly.

i have had best results with twisted wire.

Yea, if thats 32ga Kanthal A1, I'd check your meter. Between my Bulli-Smoker, and 2 Genny clones I rewrap at least 4-5 coils a week -- and 4 wraps is never over 2.0. You're right though -- the actual numbers don't matter, and its all about the fine tuning. Once you get the hang of it, spinning a new coil takes almost no effort, you just gotta get through the learning process first.

Edit: You can do a quick check of your meter by putting it onto ohms, and touching the probes together and holding them there. Whatever resistance, if any, is the offset for a more accurate reading on your meter -- assuming that the resistance is stable. If the resistance is bouncing around erratically, try swapping batteries. If it continues, I'd call the meter suspect.

yes it does jump. i might need to swap battery. cheap chinese meter. but i see you got my point there. these RBA's they all tend to produce vapor even when they are not set properly. some produce more, some produce less, some with a hint of burnt taste some with a stronger bad taste. you really have to try and try with your coil and eventually you will get it. i wasn't impressed at first with my genesis. good vapor nice flavor but nothing exceptional. after a few coils i was very happy as i said good flavor, good vapor etc but nothing really awesome. and then i tried twisting the wire and before i knew i was choking on vapor like never before and with 80 pg juice

I'm using 34 gauge kanthal a1, twisted, and I'm having a blast with my T+...it took a little fiddling to work out the hotspots, and my wick is some 500 ss mesh wrapped around a paperclip, with an extra sheet over it because the initial wasn't thick enough x)
Watch some youtube videos, ask some questions in the RBA section of the site, and I'm sure you'll have some tricks up your sleeve to deal with hotspots!
The finished product came out at 1.7 ohms, btw.
