Asap as in smoke.. Im using evic.. Max i can go is 5c
Volt.. It burns at 5v with no hotspot.. At times i adjust till theres no hotspot.. After a while taste different i open top cap and check got hotspot at the top or bottom adjust again till no hotspot and vape again.. I guess i will try to enlarge the airhole on the top cap.. Will that help in getting more vapor ericska..?

Weird... There's nothing to do with the wick hole, also doesn't matter the diameter of the wick. How much cotton wool did you wrap on the mesh? The cotton wool is just like an insulator to prevent your coil touching the mesh. (Also speed up break in periods.) You got hot spot mean you have shorted between your coil and mesh. Sound like you wrapped the cotton too thin... I wrapped mine until I can't see the mesh like the photo shown in my post. Or maybe you have fired with your wick dry and burnt the cotton... Did the cotton on the mesh get burnt? Did you tilt your atty and let your coil and wick get wet? Did you tilt your device while firing?

Edit: I just noticed... 5 volts on 2.2 ohms seem too high for me, unless your wick doesn't get dry. I usually set at 3.8-4.5 volts at that ohms. Definitely your cotton was burnt...

Here I found a very good vaping power chart that you must have, to know how to set your PV voltage and wattage.
(I have this in xls file last year in this forum and don't know how to post it here. You were lucky I searched in this forum and found an image file similar to the one I have in xls file.:D)

You can take out the paper clip from your inner wick and roll it smaller until it can fits in the outer wick.

Nice! And thanks!

I have this already in my post #58 in this thread. But haven't try it yet. :D

Hi,

having prob setting up mg aga t+. done all the wicking n coils. lloks nice, using 34awg kanthal 3/4 wraps the ohms shows 1.6/1.7. glows nicely but i did notice at the connection to the center post, it get a bit dark, is this a problem? should the coil be glowing all the way.

ok i thought i got it yeah, good ohm reading, coils glowing red hot, ss wick nicely rolled up. the when i fire up (with the wick on) just snaps immediately at the center post. ok so i redo and make sure everything is snug against the wick..same problem..3rd time same problem..

it was good until i put in the wick, even tried saturated the wick with bit of juice, also dont work..should i oxidise the mesh throughly? i just heated the mesh with lighter.

any help?

So your did not follow my set up from my post #153 in this thread. Your set up was no oxidize your ss mesh and no insulator cotton wool wrapped?

I don't get what you mean... if the coil end connected to center post is dark then that's a good news. If it's no short between coil and mesh, the coil should be glow from the middle.
Like this:

This was my set up I did few weeks ago, totally no oxidizing the ss mesh. After wrapped the coil, few drops of VG(or e-juice, but I use VG cause it builds gunk faster) on the coil and fire it. When the juice dry out, the coil starts to glow unevenly, small hot spot(glow red) at coil end close to center post. Fiddle(move back and forth) the coil and fire again, still hot spot there. Few drops VG again and fire till the juice dried. At least repeated 4-5 times, then the coil and mesh were getting some gunk there. Fire it again and the coil glows evenly from the middle like the photo shown. Juice in and vape. Then end of story, hard work done.

Snaps immediately? Do you mean it glows red? If so, I called it hot spot there. The more you snug against the wick, the more you get the shorts! Just fiddle it until the hot spot gone.

You have to repeat few more time drop juice on and fire till it dried, until it build enough gunk. Gunk will builds an insulator to avoid short. Building gunk is what they(vapers) called "break in", gunk also helps juice contact with coil and mesh at the same time. Also called "break in periods". ... But when vape after a tank or 2, too much gunk built, time for washing... :D
You may burn it with lighter, but not till red hot. You don't want to vape Chromium don't you?

Hope I'm helping...

I really don't like this set up without cotton wool as insulator, too troublesome, need to wait till break in. I used this set up a week, and too much metal taste. With cotton wool or cotton gauze swab wrapped, no more short, no more hot spot, this even speed up break in periods, no need to build gunk, and gunk will ruins the flavor either. So, I never like this set up. I only use ceramic wick now.;)

bro ericska,

i did manage to get it right twice..happy jumping2..everything looks good, tested a few burns..then after 5/6 vape the wire broke again at the centre post. Aiyah..

i used a .16mm kanthal (34awg?). any advice, or is it to fragile?

maybe tonight use the cotton wool.

thanks bro :) looks like staying up late tonite hehehh

Broke?! Are you sure it's Kanthal? Few months back I got 2 clone DIDs that come with heat wire, not sure whether it's nichrome or what, and no way it's Kanthal. I set voltage up to 5 volts, and POP! Just like the electricity fuse blow!
I did used 34g before and still got some left, but I never blow it before. I think your voltage or wattage set too high, or you have short between coil and mesh that cause the hot spot and blow off the coil... Is it always blow(or broke) close to center post? If so, you have short... use cotton wool or cotton gauze swab like my set up bro.
Sound like you have a powerful PV... What PV are you using? How many ohm is your coil resistance? How many voltage or wattage are you set at?

Edit: If I use 34g, I often wrap up to 5-6 wraps and get 2.0 to 2.5 ohms. Because it's thin, more wrap is better IMO, and 34g heat up faster. Get 32g or 30g bro, so far I found this 2 are the best for me. Lower than 30g might be good, but heat up a bit slow and drain your battery juice faster...

refer my post above :) now vaping like a king hehehh..
i wrapped 3 times only, got 1.5ohm, good enough..mine is 34awg 0.16mm kanthal..
i didnt use wire supplied with the aga t+..bought some spare ss mesh and kanthal when order my aga t..they have just the 34awg..so hantam saja :)

Because you said "broke", that's what I curious about... Ok, nice to hear that. Happy vaping!
