I use a propane torch. It's the one I use for home plumbing work so I had it already and it gives me an excuse to have a honking big torch in the computer room where I do my rba and DIY work. There is something just 'so wrong' about having a lit propane torch in this environment that makes it so neat to do this.

Yes, I know ... I'm weird. But it works for me. YMMV
Heh, I keep mine disassembled somewhat near my fireplace, not THAT close, use it to light fires in there. Works VERY well. Maybe I'll try and see if it works for me, would save me from buying a butane unit.

I recently jumped into RBAs too. My first wrap i did was pretty great (after popping 3 coils before). Tons of vapor, no hotspots after i worked it out. Then i received some hotspots after the tank was low so i rebuilt another set. Im enjoying them a lot and hardly using my cartos. Just order another AGA t and a oddity. And im about to buy the terminator C soon too. Ahhhhh my money.

Until I get myself a mech, I'm gonna have to make do with my Vamo, am I correct in assuming more wraps/higher guage makes it easier to get higher resistance? I'm fairly sure that is so, but figured I better double check just to be certain. As it is, I have a 3' length of 32 AWG kanthal, a sheet of 400 mesh, and of course the atty comes with a little of both.

As Sheila said the Vamo will read any resistance, it just won't fire below a certain level. This still makes it a handy ohm meter and platform to help you build a coil on. On my Vamo I can fire a 1.2 but it has to be closer to 1.3 than 1.1 I think. If the coil is jumping around in resistance (which it probably will do at first) it will be hit and miss. I've got one AGA-T2 coiled for 1.5 that I use on both my mech and my Vamo and I just did a "mini DID" that I was aiming for 1.4-1.5 with and ended up at 1.3. It's happy on both devices as well :)

I've said this before but if you decide to pulse your coil with your vamo be sure to be in VV mode and NOT VW mode!

Oktyabr, just btw, you can use your mini DID clone on a standard Twist. Set at 4.8 it hits pretty damn hard. Get a collar from discountvapers and you got yourself a cheap, great setup thats looks awesome as well, for both guys and gals. I named mine the Torpedo :D

Yeah, I've thought about that already too. I sold my only Spinner to a buddy of mine that was frustrated with fixed voltage egos and didn't want to wait for vape mail. My wife has a pair of Spinners still, and the collars... I should really try it on one of hers but I'm a bit afraid she'll decide SHE wants it! :D

Actually the Eternity is more her speed I think. She does have a smok octopus but never uses it because it leaks and only holds 10 drops or so... I'd adopt it but of course it's in hot pink :D The Eternity is a very well made, solid dripper. I've put 30 drops at a time in it and it will not leak, even turned completely upside down. The flavor might be a *bit* muted but I think that is due more to the wimpy factory wick and coil than the rest of the design. I like it a lot. If I didn't already have another half a dozen drippers (not counting the AGI I haven't even opened yet!) I'd be hard pressed to let it go. BAH! She'll probably end up with one of my pair of mini dids AND the Eternity.

So, I've been lurking here for a couple weeks, made my first post a short time ago, and would like an opinion, thoughts, criticism, whatever on something. I ordered an AGA-T2 last night w/pyrex tank, I know it's supposed to be an "advanced vapers" unit, but I'm a pretty handy guy, having made LED lighting arrays for fish aquariums, installing LED lights and foglights in my car along with a fair amount of car audio experience, building computers, and fairly handy with a soldering iron. Granted, the RBA is a whle 'nother animal, but I've watched a good dozen or so youtube vids, including P. Busardo coiling this same RBA, and it doesn't seem too far outta my league, so I'm wondering if I jumped the gun and should have waited a bit, or am I ok just jumping right in and getting my feet (and ankles, legs, body) wet with building the thing?
BEWARE OF BURNT HIT!!! I have a love hate relationship with my AGA T. Ive had it afew days. In that time I also got in the mail my Protank and I freaking love that thing SUPER user friendly. Back to the AGA T. If u r not carefull with the pitch u hold ur device at as ur draging on it. U r going to wiz bomb urself with the biggest burnt hit. My advice is on a full tank hold it at about a 90 degree angle to ur face and take a mouth hit a small mouth hit. As the tank emptys pitch the angle up high as u drag it. It forsure takes some geting used to. When u get a good angle the vape production and taste a wonderful. When u dont the AGA T will let u know. But work at it and dont get discouraged. Good look

Well, using the mesh and wire that came with it I rolled a wick and did a 4/5 wrap, hotspotted on the positive leg, so started pulsing and poking, after about 45 minutes of mounting frustration it suddenly glowed evenly and consistently. Filled it up and worked great. That was Monday night. I noticed last night it was getting a pretty heavy buildup of gunk (ash?) on the wick & coil and the resistance was getting inconsistent so I decided to scrap that wick/coil and rolled another one with 32AWG kanthal. Once I got it glowing evenly and pretty consistent, it's hovering around 1.4-1.5ohms, the previous coil when it was consistent was closer to 2.5-2.6ohms. I've noticed when chain vaping and it gets hot the resistance drops a tenth or so, maybe it's developed a hotspot, but vaping great so gonna leave it be for now. All in all, I like the AGA-T2. Side bonus, the thing looks like it was MADE for the chrome Vamo, gap barely enough to slide a piece of paper in, and same lines to the thing. Vaping at 7.5 watts, just enjoyment. No burnt hits until I go over 8 watts.

Next wick I make though I'm going to cut it so it rolls thicker, have noticed that a good tap changes the resistance, I have the neg screw and pos nut good and tight so fairly sure that isn't the cause.

Here is where I got my extra stainless and wire for a very reasonable price (the best I could find) and very fast order fulfillment (it took me several tries and I knew the little bit of mesh and wire that came with my AGA would not get me running)

fiveapes04 | eBay

items in TEMCo Industrial Power Supply store on eBay!

My best luck was using cig paper under the area I wrap the coil (yes. I know this is a cheater move but it works for me)
3/4 with 32 kanthal gives me 1.8 ohms
