Its possible you over oxidized it and thats whats causing the taste. the best way i found to put some oxidation on it is after you roll it just take either some VG or VG/PG blend (can be unflavored nic blend in your normal strength or the premade flavor that you plan on using) cover the wick in the liquid and use a lighter and set it on fire (using caution and safety of course), let it naturally burn out and repeat two more times. this gives a sufficient coating with out over doing it. Good Luck!

Agreed, the AGA T+ is my first geni and I had the same issues. I went thru 3 wicks and 4 coils before I got it right

I just barely oxidized the area that touches the coil with a lighter. Then I wash it with dawn, then I boil it, change the water and boil it again at five minutes each.

Sure, you need to fidget with it a bit to get the hotspots out, but folding over the end of the mesh and aligning it with the center post helps tremendously with that matter.

Once I got the coil glowing evenly I dripped some 50/50 PG/VG on it and sizzled it off a few times.

It wicks really well with the minimal oxidization technique. I'm using SS400.

The original ox method for these wicks was for 3 passes with a lighter, all the other stuff got added on by other people. Presumably as "band-aid" methods.

thank you for all your help, i think thats what i did wrong, over oxidizing it =\. I use a butane torch (picked it up at homedepot) torched it and dunk it in water (3 times) then used 1 of my oh sh** back up juice dripped it over, and torched it again (2 more times). kinda just followed a bit of people on youtube =\. but i have to wait til tomorrow for my mesh to come to continue experiment.

PS what is a hot spot?

Dont feel bad it took me 6 tries to get my AGA-t2 to get up and running. If you can get good at the AGA i think you'll do great on a more high end quality rba.
A hot spot is when you don't have an even burn. Like only one red coil burning on its own i think. You should youtube that as well so you can see for yourself. They should all burn evenly.

they do glow red pretty quickly. i dont understand what you mean by making the connection shorter, can you explain it a little please?

The part of the wire that isn't touching the wick. Try to make that as short as you can without letting the wick touch the post.

The thread that Baditude linked is pretty much the one-stop-shop for all AGA-T information at the moment.

IMO I don't think its over oxidized either, it sounds to me like hot spots, as I get a distinct harsh metallic taste if one appears. This is probably why its now shorting out too.

That and always make sure the air hole is lined up perfectly with the coil. On my AGA v1, before I sanded down the cap, my buddies would always tighten it down and misaligned the air hole, giving a very harsh nasty vape.
