Can anyone link me to a visual tutorial for the AGA-T2 rba using just SSmesh and Kanthal wire?

I keep having issues with the center post coming lose during use even when I torqued the lock nut down pretty tight. It seemed perfect with no hot spots and the entire coil was glowing brightly from end to end. I then filled the tank, took a few puffs and it was FANTASTIC!.. then I sat it down a moment in the upright position and when I came back, nada. I took the top off and the center post nut was loose and the wire was hanging out of it.

I reconnected it, tightened it down and it seemed to vape but after 1-2 seconds a bright hot spot happened at the top of the coil between the wick and the center post :-/

I've searched the tutorial section and the Modding section but nothing seemed relevant. I also found several youtube vids but they were all too out of focus for me to make out how they were doing it.

I really appreciate any help anyone can offer and sorry if this is a bad place on the forums for this kind of post! Still learning my way around

Derp, forgot pictures!

BAM! and fixed my issues, thanks guys! My wick ended up a bit too small and so I re-rolled it and then did the coil with a rod down the center of the wick and got it firing properly! Also I used a paper clip with some clear plastic crap on it when firing my wick and of course, it melted into the mesh, take three! I'm pretty blind so I couldn't even tell it was on the clip since it was clear.

I have never seen that part 2 video from PBusardo and not sure how I missed it since I'm subscribed to him! Thanks for helping the blind!

What do you think about the idea of wraping a little cigarette paper around the wick before putting the coils on, then when the coils are ready to be fired up it turns the paper to ash and you blow it off, giving a little oxidizing effect here's a small video hope it helps brother.

That is my next thing to try for sure. I've been waiting on SS mesh since Monday.. The square that came with my atty is pretty much gone at this point. The wick is really about 25% smaller than it should be since I lost some of it to the paperclip incident

Soon as my Vamo and ohm checker comes in this will all be much better!

Thanks for the videos! I'll add them to favorites just so I don't lose them again lol.

It seems the AGA in particular has issues with the upper arm of the coil having hot spots and also with the "wandering ohms" syndrome, IMHO. The thumb screw on the positive post is notorious for coming loose. Also variances in how closely the wire coil is to the wick can cause major differences in the resistance. I've seen as much as 0.5 - 0.8 ohm difference if the wick is manipulated by bending it toward or away from the postitive post, or spinning it around slightly inside the coil.

I use either a wood tooth pick or a drill bit that can fit into the wick hole to wrap the coil (about 6 - 7 wraps of 30 g). I do this prior to inserting it into the AGA. Once wrapped, I attach it to the posts on the AGA and check the resistance to make sure it is what I desire (usually 2.0 ohm is my target) on the Provari. I then remove either the tooth pick or the drill bit and begin pulse firing (in increments, lower to higher voltage) to oxidize the coil as Zen shows in his video. I watch for even coil glowing and for hot spots, and use a dental pick to adjust. At some point I insert the wrapped wick into the coil and I recheck for even coil glowing and for hot spots. The Provari is good for finding hot spots (via error codes) that I might not originally find by visual observation.

When satisfied with the wick and coil, I'll add a drop or two of juice to the coil, burn it, and repeat. I then will add the rest of my juice to the tank with a blunt needle tip and syringe through the juice fill hole.

For myself, wrapping the stainless steel mesh into a nice wick was by far the most difficult thing in setting up an RBA. I found a vendor that sells slightly oxidized, pre-wrapped SS wicks. I've been using these for approximately 3 months now and have been extremely pleased. I use the 400 g and it is the perfect size for the AGA wick hole. I don't mind paying $2 per pre-rolled wick for the convenience and the removal of the frustration that rolling my own was. Rebuildable atomizers

I got the colored pyrex glass replacements for the AGA T2's from http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modder-accessories-supplier-forum/392737-hyper-colored-pyrex-tanks-hybrids-genesis-style-atomizers-35.html Several colors available, around $11 each. If interested, send Spectrum (registered ECF vendor) a PM.

At least I'm not alone... I've watched those videos before and I having the worst issue with a hot spot at the top of the positive post and loose top nut... Popped the coil on both 30 ga and 32 ga wire

Yep that's me too! Perfect ohms at around 1.3-1.6 then only the top Effin wire glows then pops eventually....I think it's my rolled wick and something wrong with it or I'm doing something wrong when rolling/oxidizing the mesh

The one thing I've never liked about the tutorial videos is how they never really show you what the problem is. They just poke around for a minute and the camera cuts and when it comes back the coils magically perfect.

But what I like about tinkering the most is figuring stuff out myself. The easiest way to fix the top leg hot spot is to use a washer to reduce the distance between the top coil and positive post.

It can be done. lol

Along with all of the wonderful advice above the key to avoiding the top leg hot spot on the AGA-T2 is to make sure both legs of the coil are the same length (this goes for all RBAs in general). The AGA-T2 was an exercise in frustration until I discovered this. The RSST is much friendlier in this regard.
