Has anyone else tried the American Bend No. 3 yet? I find it to be much more enjoyable than No.2 as the sickly sweet "Virginia" flavoring is tempered by what I'm guessing is a hint of their "Burley" flavoring and possibly the cardamom. A bit more ashy spice with a subtle sweetness and a tad more bite. Another definite maybe in the re-order department!

I wanna try AB3, maybe will next order. Probably get 2 & 3. I sampled No. 2 (I think it was 2... hmmmm Mann?) before it was on site and thought it was weird, unique, and very good.

Dude, got to Vaporcraft in Clawson! (Down the street from Oakland Mall -- just by Flipside Records). They will have you up and running in no-time flat. Great shop there. But, yeah, I would use a quality mech or something with a dna chip (or the like).

p.s. All OG gear there with a tendency toward the high-end.

Oh snap, is that where that place is? In that strip mall where noble fish is?

I would recommend checking out some of rip trippers build tutorials on youtube. The one below is a basic micro coil build. There's nothing like personal help but this might get you going.

Ive actually seen that one. Ive watched alot of people build them in videos, I mean I can do it and make a functional coil, but it doesnt work like thiers do, like I have to fire it for a good 5 seconds at like 12-13 watts to heat the coil up before it produces decent vapor and then its still pretty normal vapor production. I mean my iclears give the same amount of vapor and flavor on an ego.

General area, but should be close (not exactly sure where that is in relation as now I only see Vaporcraft -- all else is a blur! LOL) They sell 5P BTW!!!

What gauge res wire are you using?

What gauge wire are you using? Thin wire like 30 or 32ga Kanthal or Nichrome will heat up right away at 12 watts. Thicker wire like 28ga is a little slow at that level, but does better at 15+ watts. Lower gauges will need much more to have a quick reaction time.

Me too! I was planning on passing and then I read his glowing reviews and started to get ANGST and have been going back and forth with it. Now I am glad I passed. Not going to listen to him anymore:laugh:

Glad I read this before ordering the FOTW - when I really don't need more juice at the moment!

that right there is the problem IMHO. I think most AHL need a 21 (ish) day steep. And I do take the cap off every few days for a minute. Learned that with my beloved Lemon Cream and I noticed that the more I get into it the faster it steeps. Lots of shaking.
We do not necessarily want to keep you from heading back over to AiV though.
I have said before that I think they are a bit subtle but just so good that I learned to be alright with subtle. Subtle is much better than 'in your face' gross which is how I found so many other juices. Never ever have I had a gross, plasticky, waxy or anything offensive from AHL.

only a week or so...Im gonna let smooth criminal steep a while longer before I pass judgement. I cant believe it doesnt get any better than that the way people talk about it...I expected like a tobacco flavor and its more like tea and caramel or honey or something. I hardly taste tobacco at all in it

Me! I just got this today. I don't know my tobaccos, but I thought it's generally the same as blend 2 with a cocoa note. Pretty sure I don't hate it, not sure if I like it.

Also trying Sweet Virginia today. It's just naked Gold Rising. Definitely sure I don't like this one.

Thing is, SV, Sahara, GR, and both ABs all seem to be related... guess strange things happen with inbreeding lol.

If you have time, i highly recommend browsing through these two threads. If you pick up sound basics from the beginning, the learning curve would be so much easier. It's good to know why you are doing what you are doing. Before you know it you could build a perfect tensioned microcoil in less than 30 seconds every time !

You might not be rebuilding a protank, but the prnciples apply. If you can build a t.m.c. in a protank, building on a rebuildable deck is a cinch.

Yeah, honestly, I would still recommend stopping in at Vaporcraft and hollering at Len (dude). It's probably something really simple you're missing, but that can make a world of a difference! You will know when you get it right -- that's the coolest part of rebuilding. You will know!

p.s. 28 gauge is my favorite!

I use 28ga Kanthal; 1 ohm micro coil on a mech, about 16 watts. Reaction time is quick. Add more power and you'll probably get better results.

I'm vaping Sweet Virginia, I find it damn good. What's the general opinion on this new-ish tobacco in this thread?

Jerms, that's a new bottle I imagine, no? Was it much different to you steeped vs. fresh? I think fresh it leaves a little to be desired.

See above response to Jerms on SV. Don't toss that bottle, but if you do, toss it my way.

I like it for a straight up tobacco. Single twisted 28 at 0.8 ohms and it's smooth sailing for me. Very close to a ciggy.
