That's wonderful Poeia! 6 years. You must have started with old tee shirt wicks on chicken wire. LOL.
You're not that far off. An 810 (with about 350mAh battery life) and inserting little straws in the atomizer mouthpiece filler so there was some airflow.

But you did it and you are an inspiration! I thought I was good at 3 years, you are a founder.. Kudos and congratulations again!
I wasn't complaining. I thought it was wonderful. And the more people who vaped, the more incentive there was for the manufacturers to make a better product. (And I'm really more second generation than a founder. There are people like Smokey Joe who beat me by several years.)

Wasn't that bad... My first Green Smoke kit I purchased in December 2009 (yeah, 6 years here, too) was quite alright. As a matter of fact, it's still being sold and must be doing OK--they are still in business, after all. Looks exactly the same as it did 6 years ago...

We may be all going back to cigalikes very soon, if the FDA has its way.

Just sayin'...

I once thought The SafeCig was the "Apple" of ecigs.

Truth be told, they had a killer Sangria flavor that OLE! never quite could replace! :Whuuuttt: Yep!:lol::lol:

I got the GreenSmoke because it was the only kit that came with a 30-day money back guarantee--no questions asked. So I figured I had nothing to lose. I got the kit just a day before my daughter's birthday party and I was so happy I didn't have to run outside and hide to smoke a cig--I just went to my study and puffed hungrily on my brand new e-cig. It was quite an experience.

You can still get the 801s too. Not only did they work, after 5 days of doing both, I stopped smoking. Haven't had one since. So they worked very well indeed.

My biggest problem with the old ones was the short battery life. I'd go to work with 2 fully charged batteries and kept a charger at the office to recharge the first one. That way, in case an emergency came up and I ended up staying very late, I'd still have something to vape.

Going back to one, if I had to, would be hard because I've gotten used to the higher power. I do still use my eGos and EVODs so I could go back part of the way.

Like an idiot, I ordered direct from China less than 3 weeks before Christmas. It wasn't their fault it took until the 26th to arrive. I learned my lesson that one should only order extras and backups from there, not the stuff needed immediately. I could have quit smoking a couple of weeks earlier.

In a lot of ways, I think it's harder for the people who start vaping now. We had a choice of cartridges or cartos and about 3 thread types and that was it. If I wanted to quit now, I'd spend months reading all the recommendations and be unable to make up my mind.

I think you're right, Poeia. Even just 3 1/2 years ago when I started, your beginner's choices were pretty much limited to a cigalike or an eGo and a carto or CE3. You didn't have a million people telling you that you should start out building sub-ohm coil and getting a 70 watt TC mod. That stuff was starting to be out there, but people weren't recommending it for beginners like they seem to be now. In my first year of vaping, I was just thrilled to discover variable voltage and bottom coil clearos. And those things still work out pretty well for me! (I know, I'm a tootle-puffing dinosaur, and I don't care!)

I agree. We just had to choose between a two-piece or a three-piece. I'm glad I'm not a newb now. I've been following all the improvements in vaping very closely for years and I'm still confused. I used to be able to answer all the questions in Ask the Vets even a couple of years ago--now I have no idea what they are even asking... Quadruple coils, Clapton coils, heat flux...

Same for me. I started vaping 3 years ago. Started with a cigalike, came to ECF and bought a 3 setting set of egos and CE4s. Kept me going for almost a year, during which I found bottom coil clearos and the rest is history. I have a friend who is trying to switch to vaping. I gave her several of my old Egos I don't use anymore, and a couple of H2 clearos I rebuild. She was using them, but went to a local B&M and they sold her a Segelei 30 watt and an Atlantis tank with .25 ohm coils! She wondered why it worked so differently than the ego/clearo combo I gave her. I explained, and she needs to get some higher ohm coils for her Atlantis and cut back the airflow. We have not been able to get together for several weeks, so not sure how she is doing, but I know she needs fresh coils for those H2s! Sub ohm for a beginner, I just don't get it. Learn to crawl before you walk and then run!

I had a cab driver last week who asked me about vaping. He stopped cold turkey but is having a hard time not relapsing. I told him to come here and check out the section for newcomers but not to let people convince him to overspend. I said he can get a nice set-up for a newcomer for under $50 -- a couple of eGos, a charger and some juice. Then, if vaping works for him, he can decide if he wants to upgrade.

Endura T18 Starter Kit

Maybe Lady E and other tootlers would like this. I got one and find it to be made well and really, really simple to use.

Happy New Year, everyone. Getting dressed to go the AhlHQ.

Edit: I read a report that this unit may not be as good as the one I got. Can't say much more than what I experienced, but I can acknowledged others not reporting the same. Just happy mine works well.
