Last week was a rough one and a blessed one. I found out a high school friend passed away and my wife had a very close friend pass away too. On the plus side, my stepson and his wife are expecting. We found out they are having a boy. The baby is healthy... and his middle name will be the same as mine. This wasn't expected and is very humbling and life affirming. The problem with DYI isn't the nicotine, it's the flavor. Even with a recipe I've made some truly revolting flavors so far. If worse comes to worst, I will have to get better at it.

Understood and respected. BUT, here is a dirty little secret. Promise not to tell anyone please. /lol "Revolting Flavors" is part of the journey for many. Including yours truly and lots of folks I network with which represent all experience levels!. Good lord, I've made mixes that were not even suitable for window cleaner when I started from scratch on a wild journey. I've had from scratch mixes that took me 6 different batches over a period of weeks to nail. And, this is not my first rodeo after two years. Not boasting, just saying. My journey continues and I embrace failures when I dream up some wild creation. I even have a focus group at my local B&M and they do not sugar coat! I vividly remember about 6 months ago when 3 of the geeks were testing my mixes and ALL of them said: "Steve, I hope you didn't quit your day job because this mix sucks eggs!" /lol

Hence the value of the HIC mixes. Start simple with two flavors and build. This page has some great starter mixes which are free! If you can test with others who will give you honest advice that will help build your confidence. Small quantities of flavors which are reasonably priced can be ordered from this reliable vendor. Certainly not the only trusted vendor but worth considering since I and others can tell you those flavors are the real deal.

But I don't want no Hillbilly nicotine. I've tried more than my share of their likker and it all sucks. I was just looking at this yesterday and I and I have already decided my next nic buy would be from NUde. What is the V2.0 ? (also comes in the extended shelf life) do you know by any chance?

I also would love to know what most folks in here are buying as the base. Last time I bought 100mg with PG as the carrier. I have always heard that VG is just so thick it is hard to work with. Might go 50/50 this time

I'm a little bit skeptical of the V2 armor in practice. Nude has not fully explained it. There is a lot of conjecture on Reddit about how it works, that there is argon pressurized in the bottle that helps push out the nic, and then I assume once the pressure is stabilized, the bottle will allow some vacuum before air gets in. Again, all a guess. You would think to make their claims, they would substantiate them with a more detailed description. Personally, I see air getting in after some draws, if not immediately.

I also was very unhappy with their CS. Took quite a bit of time to get mine. When it showed up, there were NO luer lock syringes as advertised. I wrote them, had to take a picture and send it to them, of the packing slip so they knew who prepared the shipment. Wouldn't it be a good idea to log that info internally, and NOT burden your customers with it? In addition to the 10 or so days it took to get the nic, it took about 3 additional weeks to get the syringes. So if I NEEDED the nic, it would have been a month from the time I ordered. They didn't seem surprised, apologetic, nothing.

Here are current prices with shipping of 100mg nic:

MFS 500ml in glass $55.69
MFS 1L in plastic $56.00 1L is the smallest plastic bottle they have
Nic River 500ml plastic $43.00

Also, the MFS 100mg comes in 125ml glass for $18. So you could actually purchase 4 125's in sealed glass for about the same price as the Nude V2, and not have to worry about whether or not ..... V2 "armor" really works. My MFS was 3 years old, almost to the day, when I opened it, and it was perfect. Nude claims "up to a year" for their shelf life. Based on my experience, I'd take 4 convenient 125ml bottles that I can count on for 3 years, over 1 500ml bottle that I can't be sure of.

You might even think about calling MFS, and letting them know you want 500ml, but you want it in 4 seperate, sealed glass bottles. They might work a deal.

Edit: Also, my MFS was 100% PG, which at that time, was thought to maybe have a longer shelf life than VG. It seems that thinking has changed now. That VG lasts longer. I dunno. But on the PLUS side of VG, it is like MOLASSES out of the freezer. If you knocked it over, you would have to WAIT to spill it.

I DID buy my latest in 100% VG, but I'm rethinking that now. Since I use 70% VG, and the flavorings are in PG, I need only the smallest amount (~10%) of PG in my batches. If I used PG nic, I would only need about 7% PG, which means I've almost eliminated the need to buy the stuff. It only matters, because the Glycube deal makes you pick 1 gallon containers, and a gallon of PG would last me an ETERNITY. Since small bottles of PG are readily available at Tractor Supply, I can now order my glycubes in all VG, and just pick up a single liter of PG from TS, and I'll never even make it through that. So I dunno Coco. Pretty easy to get outta the way of a cold 100% VG 100mg spill too. Either way, it isn't that important I think. If the chemists truly believe that VG has a longer shelf life, than I made the right choice going with VG.

I'll be surprised as hell though if this time next year none of the proposed Laws are in effect. But, the government works slowly. That means once in effect it will take twice as long to overturn them. By voting out governers that went for high state taxes on Juice.

Fair enough..but my post was in regards to vaping and voting. I could care less who's to the left or right. But unless we vote smart we are effectively putting the noose around our own necks. Both parties are to blame for this mess. Not just one of them. So many people recommend and use MFS so I'll stick with it. I do like the idea of getting the smaller glass bottles! Thank you for the info.

I'm wanting to try the Liter I have before I order more. I want to see how it tastes and if I can mix 2 flavors. Lol. I like a lot of light flavors so if the base is peppery at all it's going to ruin the flavor. But with all the good recommendations for MFS I'm not really worried about it. I'm more concerned about coming up with a pineapple and lemon flavor to replace my 2 favorite juices when it hits the fan. I'm really hoping to have enough notice to buy a dozen 60 mls of my top 5. I probably should double that for Pineapple Cream and Lemon Cream for it to last a year.

@EleanorR, I'd get at least 36mg so you can triple your money. VG and PG is cheap to buy and you'd just have to divide your nicotine by 3. LLB told me about the ejuicemeup software that makes it super easy to put in your recipe and it tells you exactly what amounts you need to make your juice. Plus 36mg is pretty safe to work with.

When I start trying to mix anything I'm going to make sure my husband is home to help and see what he can come up with to make sure that my nicotine is contained in a way that it can't spill. I'll start by filling a 30ml glass bottle with the nicotine and putting the liter away. My kitchen sink has a small and large side so I'm going to use it for mixing. It also has metal grates so I have a flat surface. That way any spill will be contained.

I thought about buying a lower amount of nicotine but if I did it wouldn't go very far and I'd need another freezer. After looking at the software I was able to see how easy it makes the whole process.

Buying your preferred mg and ratio would be a great way to try out the different brands and find out which one you like the best. You could even vape it unflavored to get a better comparison between them all.

In a perfect world I'd never vape anything except Ahlusion! One thing that is recommended once you have a recipe you like is mixing up the flavorings in bulk. Then you just have to add your PG/VG and nicotine.

I went shopping yesterday! Dave and I bought ourselves adjustable beds with 12" gel memory foam mattresses for our 28th anniversary. We went with the 2 twin XL beds so I won't disturb him while he's sleeping. They are heavy enough that they'll stay together. The base is super quiet so it won't wake him up. They'll be here Saturday! I made sure that it has a zero gravity button since I slept that way while I was in the hospital. It is so comfortable no matter what position you sleep in. Even managed to stop at Bed, Bath, and beyond to buy 2 twin XL sheets and an oversized King top sheet. Still need to find mattress pads but they didn't have what I wanted and I was worn out. Probably why my brain isn't working too well today but it was so worth it.
