Air Force aims to curtail electronic cigarette use
Air Force aims to curtail electronic cigarette use - Bullseye

Don't know this publication, but this article (whose author is anonymous) is pure "quit or die" anti nicotine propaganda, which simply cites and agrees with many false claims by Mrs. Weart.

I posted a comment (that is awaiting moderation), and urge others to do so as well.

Wow, there is so much crap in that article it's a wonder the webpage isn't brown...

--tobacco companies are the ones that introduced electronic cigarettes
--Nicotine is as addictive as ------ or -------
--Electronic cigarettes contain chemicals that are equally or more harmful than cigarettes
--Sometimes one puff from an electronic cigarette contains the same amount as five cigarettes
--The acid from the battery has the potential to leak and be inhaled

This is, without question, the most BS article I have ever seen.
And that is saying something.

And this is how we treat our Air Force personnel?

I quit smoking completely nearly 4 years ago (3/27/2009) by switching to an e-cigarette. My health improvements are no different from the health improvements enjoyed by someone who quit smoking by using Zyban, Chantix, NRTs, cold turkey, or any other method. The author of this story needs to do some fact checking before publishing his or her stories and go back to challenge incorrect statements made by those he or she interviewed. Electronic cigarettes were not invented by tobacco companies. It is only last year that a tobacco company purchased a successful e-cigarette company. Before that, they were marketed solely by independent small businesses, and most still are. The American Lung Association is way off base in claiming that "one inhale of an e-cigarette contains the same amount of nicotine found in five traditional cigarettes." Dr. Murray Laugesen of Health New Zealand was the first researcher to compare vapor to cigarette smoke. He reported, "A 35 mL puff from the Ruyan® V8 delivers only 10% of the nicotine obtained from a similar puff of a Marlboro regular cigarette. Mrs. Weart needs to learn the science surrounding nicotine. Nicotine improves cognitive abilities and helps to ward off mood impairments. It is being studied as a potential treatment for ADHD, depression, anxiety, side effects from psychoactive medications, and as a preventive for Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Diseases. Yet Weart claims that nicotine is unhealthy. She needs to learn that the reason so many smokers have problems quitting her way (by becoming nicotine-abstinent) is because they require nicotine's beneficial effects to remain functional. E-cigarettes are a brilliant solution for the millions of smokers who desperately wanted to stop smoking but could not tolerate nicotine abstinence.
