I find what works best is a Ionizer style cleaner. I have the Ionic Breeze Quadra. There are no filters to buy and replace. Only a simple washing of the ionizer cells. No fan , no moving parts so it runs silently.
Air flow is established by the process of Ionization, so with no moving parts the machines tend to have longevity , meaning buying a used one can be well worth the savings.
I was lucky in finding mine at my local Goodwill Store and it was in almost brand new condition. (they are expensive brand new) They not only clean the film residue from the air but also any odor.
Goodwill does have a online auction store shopgoodwill.com also you can try Ebay.

I chain vape primarily fruity flavors so I am/was familiar with the vague scent of kinda stale candy in the air. I use aquarium activated charcoal pellets hung in loose-weave burlap bags (i.e. cheap walmart gift bags with plenty of holes/air flow) around the house and it works great. I use them primarily for litter box/garbage duty, but one hung in the living room where I vape works great there, too. You can put them anywhere, as long as they're waist-high or above to get plenty of airflow. I just stick a tack in the wall and hang them with the drawstring.

Any charcoal would work, but aquarium pellets just happen to be dirt cheap and easy to handle. Get a variety with no or minimal other aquarium-related ingredients, all that's useful is the charcoal.

Electrostatic filters have their downsides. They use buckets of power for one thing. Also I’m not sure how well they deal with liquids, though if it’s working for your vape issue it should work for others. I got my filter at a good will as well actually. Had to clean the heck out of it and throw the old filter away but it works. If they solve the VG stickiness issue they may even be a win.

Ionizers are ozone factories. If you're relying on just the ionic wind to circle air you'll wait all day and all night to clear a small room 30m³, there's not a lot of throughput.
As to what that does to our liquids... seen no tests on that, but you can bet that electron bombardment will not leave them chemically unchanged.

It's best not to sit in a room with an active ionizer day in day out for years.

I heard ozone is bad for people with asthma.

They use ozone machines in hotels to clear out the cigarette odor after guests have smoked in a room. They clear the odor fast but it isn't advisable to be in the room when they are running. That's a lot more ozone than an ionizer will produce though.

Ozone is so reactive that it doesn't stick around very long. Maybe an ionizer needs a fan in the room to be most effective. I've never had one though.

I'm glad you started the thread, I usually crack a window but then that involves turning the heat off (if you are me). So I get glared at for large clouds, or because it is cold. I just ordered a Honeywell air purifier on Amazon it should get here tomorrow. I figure the price is worth it, given that my vaping area gets pretty cloudy.... I thought I had one in one of the sheds, but no, I did not. I'd much rather run an air purifier than open a Tiger's door each morning. Yeah, there's a tiger whether I turn off the heating, or not. LOL.

How did you pay if you don't mind me asking? I need a small one because I have a pretty small place. I prefer one that is quiet but not a complete deal breaker. I have a few in my cart from Amazon but they are like$100. Looking for a small one like I had before.

I found a smaller one (I figure it can go right next to me on the living room table for $60ish dollars on Amazon. It was fairly well reviewed, and the main place my vaping happens is in the living dining area, which is still a fairly small room. I didn't want something super expensive that was designed to purify the whole house. I'd keep looking.

I'm an ex-pipe smoker and although I mainly smoked aromatic blends that most people "enjoyed" I didn't want my house reeking of pipe tobacco. My HVAC system has a variable speed blower and constantly circulates air throughout the house even when it's not actually heating or cooling (I love this feature). I had a two stage whole-house air purifier installed in the system, it has both an electrostatic grid and a 1 micron pleated air filter. In addition to the HVAC air purifier I had a large Honeywell HEPA air filtering unit in my office/den where I actually smoked. My home didn't smell like a tobacco shop or ashtray so mission accomplished.

The downside to this level of air purification was the maintenance costs. Eight years ago it cost $60 to replace both the HEPA and charcoal filters on the Honeywell air cleaner and I had to replace these filters every couple of months, so I was spending around $250 a year to maintain it. In contrast, the large whole house air purifier in the HVAC system required a $37 1 micron filter every four months ($120 per year) and the electrostatic grid (blades) had to be washed/cleaned just as often.

Since I stopped smoking I no longer use the Honeywell air cleaner but wonder how it would handle vapor, more specifically the VG. Might not need to change filters quite as often and perhaps the filters aren't as expensive as they once were. I still use the HVAC purifier and haven't really noticed any unusual buildup/residue on the electrostatic grid when I clean it. Of course any vapor would first need to go through the regular HVAC (return) filters and then through the 1 micron filter on the purifier before ever reaching the electrostatic grid.

With vaping I don't see the need to remove odor, my significant other has never complained about the smell. She's likely just happy that the once ever present smell of pipe tobacco is now long gone, although in our 30 years of marriage she never really complained about that either. A definite keeper :)

I have two Holmes air purifiers, one for bedroom, one for livingroom. Housedust allergy. They are noisy, though. With my hearing loss, and fan setting on my HA's, it doesn't bother me. Probably overkill, but I sometimes am at home 100% for two days straight in the winter.
