Too much air = flavor loss..

Take it from my mistakes.

Agreed. Too much air. The key is to drill with a 1/16" then try it, move up then try that. On my third try I was satisfied. I think I could have gone up one more but I don't like there to be no resistance when i draw air.

Experience helps if you haven't done it before as well. I drilled my Patriot to 1/16" on each side and the difference was measurable. My TOBHs get left alone, but I run them wide open.

My learning mistake was my RSST back towards when I started. I drilled that one just one size too big and hated it. You can always drill to a size and give it a run and go larger but the adverse is far more difficult!

Anyone know the size of the hole on the Cyclone (not AFC)? I only like mouth to lung hits; the draw ok as is (I usually build .8-1.0 ohm coils) but sometimes it feels slightly too tight. I'm wondering if 1/16th is much bigger & if it might be better. Or if there is a size between the unmodded hole & 1/16. I know it's personal preference and all... just don't want to ruin my Cyclone!
The original air hole I believe is 1mm. I opened mine up to 1/16" and has been a better vape. I think most everyone has opened them to at least that.

Love my RM2 but I find myself drawn to all the converting to bf talk. So, thanks for this post. I need to not fix what ain't broke.

No, no need at all. The RM2 is a sleeper. She's not the sexiest or coolest looking atty but she's got all the right stuff on the inside. Off the line, she'll smoke anything out there.

I've been playing with converting a number of atties to bottom feed on my LPs. I keep going back to the RM2s for daily carry, not much else, other than a Cyclone, compares.
Try a Mad Modz Reactor. It's not much bigger in diameter than an RM2 but has 3 posts and dual air holes. It's the best I've come across for modding to BF. The Nimbus isn't bad either.
Still love my RM2 of course, but it enjoy tinkering with others.

Funny you should mention that, just converted one today. Never saw anything with such small stock air holes, but it a nice atty and is vaping very nicely. I also modded a Trident today and it is vaping extremely well, probably the best so far. The Nimbus, as well as a Magma are on my hit list.

OK, so I went from stock airhole to 1/16" last night. I like it and will consider another move up in size in a week or two. Of course, my drill bit was dull and I couldn't do it by hand, so I put it on the drill and held the RM2 in my fingers. Yep, you see where this is going....

The bit was actually so dull and I was applying too much downward force that the bit broke in half and I ended up drilling into my thumb a bit. Not a real emergency, although it is still bleeding through Band-Aids at this moment from 18 hours ago.

Moral of the story........weat work gloves when holding a piece of metal that you are drilling through.

Sharp drill bits help a lot! I started of with stock holes, went to 1/16 for awhile but still too tight for me as I do a lot of lung inhales, so went to 5/64 and it's all good now :) My Cyclone with afc, I alternate between half to full open. I have an IGO-w4 with duals running .5 ohms and have two 5/64 holes. My other rm2s are at 1/16.

Welcome to the club
I drilled a hole in my hand a long time ago (3/8 inch)
Never happened again
Just part of the DIY learning process
BTW a sharp drill bit will go through work gloves like butter
Put it in a vise
