Hi All!
I've only been mixing for a bit, but have read a ton on here (thanks to all, you've helped me immensely!) but have never heard anyone talk about what I'm thinking of, so looking for some advice. I am, of course, anxious to taste my new mixes right away, but don't like the alcohol/chemically taste many have when the juice has just been mixed. I am doing a hot bath and airing the liquids overnight (helps alot) and then steeping, but as my little steeping cabinet is filling up, I'm wondering if I could just air the flavoring bottles when I first get them and cut out the airing each mixed batch overnight (would still steep as needed). Seems it would be simpler (only have to air the flavoring once per bottle rather than everything ever mixed from it) but I don't know the purpose of the alcohol in the flavoring, wondering if it acts as a preservative?

I'm really tempted to do this, but don't want to ruin my flavorings, so thought I would see if there were any thoughts to be shared on this, either way. I know there are many people on here that know waaaaaaay more about the chemistry involved than I do, and many that are just wicked smart and like to help a noob out!

Thanks in advance :D

Thanks Face Meat and Southern Bliss :) So, the alcohol is needed to help things fully combine, but after that happens it's ok for it to "leave"? Makes sense, but what about the "volitile compounds" responsible for the flavor? Does the PG/VG take over the alcohol's "job"?

I figured it was too easy to be workable, surely someone would have thought of it before me, but couldn't get it out of my head - sometimes simple is better, ya know? Thanks again!
