Hi. I've been vaping for about a month and haven't had the easiest time of it. I'd like to remain cigarette free, but vaping is the only way I've been successful.

So, I bought the V2 system, with blanks and their liquid. I learned I have a PG sensitivity. I couldn't vape the PG right. It would cease my throat up and I would have to take nothing but small hits that didn't satisfy. I was turned onto velvet cloud 100% VG. This went great at first as I was able to inhale. However, I noticed my lips swelling and my face and arms becoming blotchy. After some research I discovered VG has a preservative in it. The same one found in dried apricots. As an asthmatic, I am severely allergic to that preservative. Now, I haven't noticed any thing from actually vaping it, as far as I know. The problem is loading blanks and having the liquid pull through or leak out. This coats the mouthpiece and the battery so I end up itchy. Its quite a pain. Especially since the VG tastes so good and hits so smooth. So my question is, what are my options? Is there someone producing VG e-juice that doesn't have preservatives? They all claim to be organic and preservative free, and that's clearly not true.

Right now it appears that vaping isn't going to work for me. I'm hoping there is a solution for this because I just keep going in circles.

Hard to say for sure, but Nicoticket claims that they use a version of PG that is unlikely to cause a reaction. Check out their website for more info, I'm just going off of memory, but I know they said something about this.

Also, if you're getting liquid in your mouth, you may have a problem. It could be just that you're trying to draw too hard, I did that initially until I realized that was my problem. You may want to get something more solidly built if you're having leaking issues, what are you currently using?

Edit: Realized you stated you were using the V2, although I'm not familiar with that device.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. Just to clarify, the PG doesn't cause an allergic reaction. It simply locks up my throat and won't allow me to take in a full vape.

Also to clarify, I bought the V2 system, but I am also using cartomizers for my Atmos vape pen.

Finally, I realize there are manufacturers claiming organic VG. However, these claims are false. Their VG contains this particular preservative, regardless of what they say.

From what research I've been able to do, it doesn't seem that I can purchase a VG that doesn't have preservatives. I'd like to try DIY, but if you can't purchase a preservative-free VG, then the entire thing would be an exercise in futility.

Again, thanks for all the advice. I'll continue to research and see if there is any solution.

Sorry you are having these issues. I hope you can find a way to keep vaping. I am asthmatic as well, but thankfully have no allergies to vg or dried apricots, haha, that I know of. They definitey don't make me itch (but lots of other things do because I have crazy allergies). If I use high VG, my lungs feel very heavy and I use my inhaler more often, so I tend to keep things at least 60%pg.

I use Nature's Oil PG and VG. No mention of preservatives in the ingredients. In fact, each bottle only has one ingredient listed - itself. the VG is USP Grade-Kosher and they both say 100% pure. Got them from Amazon (thanks for the reference Andria) for about $4 for 16 ounces (shipping adds about another 4 or 5 each). At least with these, you could test to see which one is the culprit.

Honestly, that sounds very much like an allergic reaction to me. I hope you'll find a type of pg that doesn't do this, though I wasn't aware of any preservative - as if they would tell us.

I use Now Solutions VG derived from palm oil. It says no additives, etc. And says food grade although it is sold as a skin care product :) Vapes good for me. I got it at a natural food store in my town $9 for 16 OZ I think it was. nowfoods.com.
.

I would not recommend using Now Solutions VG. I checked it on Amazon, nowhere it says it is USP.
Please, people, use only USP (pharma) grade VG and PG! They are cleanest! All this "organic" stuff is very secondary to real quality of VG.

I'll echo what others have said, it won't cost a lot to investigate diy a bit to see if it can work for you.

Go to your local "compounding" pharmacy and get a small bottle of each PG/VG. USP.
Tell them you want the best and the freshest stuff they can get!
It should cost you less than 20, maybe a little more for the "best" stuff.

Try the pg straight in a new/clean topper, evaluate.
Then try the vg the same way. evaluate.
If one of them is preferable then try adding a little nic or flavour, 1 at a time
evaluating any reaction before moving forward.

If you get the best and the freshest ingredients possible and they both still cause discomfort
it is probably wise to move on to snus to get your nic. fix.

Hope you can find a solution that works for you.

A quick follow up to this. I found out the substance I am allergic to is sulfite used as a preservative in VG. Unfortunately, it seems that it is common practice for VG manufacturers to not list the preservatives in the MSDS, which makes it impossible to find a VG that is sulfite free without trial and error of any brand I can find. Right now I've had to use an 80/20 PG-VG ratio. Harsh as anything, but no hives. I'm just going to work on quitting nicotine all together rather than trying to find the perfect e-juice.

Thanks everyone for all the tips and suggestions.

Sell the v2 or return it. Looks could be deceiving. Quality inhales is what your looking for. Your going to want to buy a battery and a tank. both different brands. Aspire tends to have a big throat hit pg or vg no matter what. Now for your allergy. If you can only use PG and its giving you a big time throat hit, try either lowering your nicotine levels and or buy a airy subtank from kanger. No Matter how much Pg I have in that tank i still get a smooth hit. Unlike the aspire. I know it will work for you. I like Pg juices allot...

Subtank nano with 1.8 coil
&
20 watt iStick

Thats what will solve your problems!

Promise!
