You can try adding menthol crystals to your juice for a bit of a throat tickle too.

But if you dont like spicy, cinnamon or menthol... and you can only handle 100%VG... then you are pretty much S.O.L. for throat hit... unless you go up in nic levels or crank up the watt/volts on your coil (then most likely burning your juice).

Hi! Unfortunately, I am terribly allergic to PG. I've tried using it at 10% even and it still bothers me. My question is, how do I achieve a good throat hit with 100% VG? Please help, I am all out of solutions!

Hi Duncan. Welcome to ECF. :)

Apart from PG (which does hit the throat harder than VG), throat hit can still be delivered, and is dependent on the following:
1. Nicotine strength (The higher the nicotine content in the juice, the stronger the throat hit.)
2. Flavor type (Some flavors, as mentioned in this thread, hit the throat harder than others, particularly spicy flavors, strong mints, or alcohol flavors.)
3. Resistance of the coil/wattage (A low resistance build that is pulling high watts from the battery will cause the juice to hit your throat much harder. Airflow to the coil is also involved.)

So you have several options to increase throat hit. The simplest one is to buy a juice with more nicotine. Please be careful though not to "chain vape" a higher nic juice, as you may experience side effects from nicotine overload. It's best to keep some higher nic juice around for throat hit and nic cravings, and some lower nic juice around for those moments that you are just craving the act of inhaling and exhaling the vapor.

A thought about flavors... it's a good idea to try a lot of flavors in the beginning of your vape journey - even ones you think you might not like. You may be surprised. There are a lot of people here who have boxes and bags filled with unused juice - stuff they tried but did not fall in love with, or things that worked for a while, but then were abandoned. Many will gladly send them to you so you can experiment. Just let us know if you are in need. We like to help new vapers. This may help you find a better throat hit as well.

And lastly, when and if you are ready, moving to a rebuildable atomizer and controlling the resistance of your coil is the most effective and precise way to adjust throat hit (and vapor production) to suit your needs. You'll find a ton of help on ECF to guide you on that journey when and if the time comes.

Happy vaping, and may you find the perfect combination. :toast: :vapor:

You've already got some great suggestions. I will add that throat hit is possible with a 100 VG liquid. I treat myself to some Boba's Bounty every now and then, and that has a terrific throat hit. It's just a question of finding that liquid that scratches the itch.

As for going to the patch, have you ever tried to quit before? I've tried the patch at least 3 times previously and within a couple of weeks I was back to smoking.

I'm certainly not trying to dissuade you from any course of action, but you are not the only person to be sensitive to PG. Many members have overcome it and vape now instead of smoke. I sincerely hope you find a solution - I think you are looking in the right place here on ECF.

You could, first of all, increase your nicotine strength. At what strength are you now? Is it satisfactory? If not, you may up your nic level a bit.

Here's what you can do safely to increase throat hit without nicotine:

1) Increase wattage--the warmer the vape, the more TH it provides
2) Add a drop or 2 of alcohol per ml of ejuice (rum and vodka are good)
3) Try dual coil clearomizers (or top dual coil clearomizers)--dual coils produce more vapor and the proximity of the heating coil to your lips makes the vapor feel warmer
4) How about peppermint? Just make sure it's water soluble kind--not a peppermint oil. If you like menthol, that might help, or koolada.

Cinnamon is tricky. Cinnamaldehyde is a lung irritant and some people are very sensitive to it. I generally try to avoid it, but the bakery cinnamon is considered OK for vaping--you may give it a try.

Thank you for all of your wonderful suggestions, you guys are the best! I'm currently at 18 mg of nicotine, and I'm not sure if I want to increase it. However, I do have a juice that has menthol in it and it does give me a better throat hit. I don't really love it but it looks like I'm going to have to try. My batteries are all variable voltage, and a crank them up as high as I can. Thank you again for your wonderful suggestions, I greatly greatly appreciate them! Happy Vaping!
