I'm so glad you guys decided to do this. My husband and I have been trying to do our part - he's recording engineer and tells people all the time "Look, no more worrying about smoke damage to your fancy, expensive equipment!". I've been writing every media contact I know, and have been getting positive feedback...now here's something new to add to the report for them!

Bravo.

I created this Fool card at RTV in "Journey to WTF Planet" thread. I happened to start The Fool at same time an announcement of the Brief got posted so I created another Fool dedicated to those who filed the Brief. Good Job! and Thank You!

THE FOOL

The newest small Fool, Alliance of Electronic Smokers, bites the biggest Fool by filing the Amicus Brief to counterstrike Action on Smoking and Health, ASH's filed Brief against electronic cigarette suppliers - case FDA vs SE and njoy.

A group of brave e-cigarette consumers decides to take a big leap into unknown zone by filing the Amicus Brief.

“All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.” ~ Edmund Burke

“You may never know what results come of your action, but if you do nothing there will be no result” ~ Mahatma Ghandhi

"When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better.” ~ unknown

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. ~ Margaret Mead

Please forgive me for taking so long to post this . . . we've been waiting for confirmation that there's a way to add people without folks having to petition the court and pay filing fees. See--trying to save everybody some money. ;)

For those who wish to add their names to the AES roster in support of the brief, we'd love to have you. You can PM your name, address, phone number, and email address to whichever of the following folks you wish:

Lika
Bonniegirl,
JustJulie
Tazcat
TheIllustratedMan

If you wish to be included but feel uncomfortable providing all the information requested, provide as much as you feel comfortable giving. Please be aware that whatever information you provide may be given to the court should Judge Leon request it. But other than that, you can be assured that your personal information will remain confidential.

Now, having made my AES announcement, I want to say something on my own behalf: YOU GUYS ROCK! Seriously.
Done and thank you for the opportunity to be included

I'm going to add my thoughts, as well, here....Be prepared, 'cause Vicks is climbing on the damn soap box again!!!

In the 20ish minutes it's taken me to read this entire thread (minus browsing the brief, but reading the comments, only) I see the biggest obstacle to us .... and that would be us, ourselves.

This thread alone, out of the thousands of threads here - almost errupted into yet another flame war - and it started on a positive note. Why?

Are we all not vapers? Yes, of different walks of life, on different continents, with different governments, but we are all former smokers (or currently smoking a lot less than we did!!!) thanks to a little gizmo that the Chinese invented, patented, packaged, and sold.

We are all fighting here for a greater good and a HUGE shift in public perception - our right to vape. We need to remember that! We've got a lot of people on here who have differing opinions - and aren't afraid to voice them.... and they're on opposite sides of the spectrum....

'and in this corner.......' I see those who have hope, and refuse to give up...... Never afraid to roll up their sleeves and get the really hard work done... never too busy to offer a kind word or support for someone who's feeling the pressure........ always there, guiding with answers..... always there, trying to find the answers to the questions yet unspoken.

'and in this corner.......' I see those who have seen the writing on the wall, who tirelessly research the back history, and quote it often. These are the ones who keep us grounded, reminding us all of the precariousness of our legal position in this struggle we find ourselves embroiled in.

In the middle are plenty of us who gravitate toward one side of the spectrum or the other, drawn by these two differing schools of opinion.

But, at this point, they are still just OPINIONS! The debate is not over, the legal case has not been decided, the fat lady has NOT sung.

WHY ARE WE FIGHTING OVER OPINIONS????? THEY'RE LIKE A--HOLES - EVERYONE HAS ONE!!!!!!!!

When we squabble amongst ourselves, we give ASH amunition - and we know they troll this board! (The source they quoted for the ...... additive to e-juice was THIS BOARD!) We give them us, at our worst behaviour, to parade in front of the masses who have NOT made up their minds yet - to prove that we're nothing more than a 'senseless group of addicts, afraid that we're going to have our drugs taken away from us!'

When I joined ECF, WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY back in March, I was, for the first time, part of something greater than my own ego. Frightening, yes, but liberating at the same time. We are a movement, a driving force for a societal change, and we've been noticed by those who are more entrenched, wealthier, and unified in their goals.

UNIFIED IN THEIR GOALS... we attain this, we stand a better-than-average fighting chance of winning our right to vape.

ONE purpose, ONE goal, ONE MILLION voices raised with ONE message!

Then, and only then, can we prevail.
Wow, Vicks, all I can say is Wow, I almost felt that I should stand up and salute the flag and I am not being a smart .... That was very moving and very true. United we stand, devided we FALL

As one of the "Alliance" members and a member here and at my home base at rightovape, I feel an urgency to put in a few words. First, I learned everything I needed to know about vaping from this very forum. Thank you to everyone...too numerous to name, for your information, support and amusement in my early days as a newbie. For that reason and only that reason, I feel indebted to this forum and will, with great respect, put my two cents in. This group of people that I have had the pleasure of working with are some of the most intelligent, passionate and caring people I have ever worked with and believe me...I do have a history of being a part of groups. While this brief was being formulated, we, as a group, had tremendous input. Not at one time, did any of those listed or those that chose to remain anonymous, ever make a decision regarding wording, verbage or inuendo that did not take the feelings of the majority of vapers in mind. Yes, we had issues to concede to to make the argument viable and atainable....but when there was room for conjecture, it was each of you those members sought to speak for. I recall one session where LIka stood firm on a matter against all of the rest because he "felt it would not be the opinion of all vapers." When Lika is attacked or flames are thrown at him...they are thrown at all of you as he was one of YOUR greatest assests in those decisions. He is a kind and thoughtful person who deserves to have his back patted and if you feel you can not do such...please be quiet. Everyone has an important role in this, we are united by one thing only, our right to vape. Please, lets do as most have suggested. Let us form a more perfect union....whereby all vapers are created equal.... I guess you get my message. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the support, which rightfully belongs to all of you. Let us avoid the negative and move forward.
Most Sincerely
Bonnie Martin

Bonnie, after reading this I admit initially I was at a loss for words - Imagine that, the impossible! ;)

As I've said and thought many times, you never cease to amaze me. Thank you. Not surprisingly my loss of words didn't last long. And with that...

I hope you guys won't mind but I want to share a little about each those who originally had a hand in this.

Bonnie played the "Mama" role in a lot of what we did. By that, I mean, she kept us in check,e.g., keeping us in line if we veered off the path. In that sense, Bonnie, was our leader though it was totally a group effort without official leadership. With Bonnie's motivation and encouragement we all took that role together and made it one as a team.

Taz, is our "digger" because she's always digging up news and information and then presenting it with her own profound thoughts. Her ability to throw an idea or suggestion out of the blue is uncanny. We'll be discussing something and then all of a sudden here comes Taz with a short one-liner and it sticks. Love that!

Julie, has a great sense of direction with the foresight of where things need to be. She's not afraid to take a task head on and work all the angles out giving it a streamlined direction. Her ideas and suggestions are selfless in nature and are always geared towards the betterment of the team and the community at large.

Nate, the I-Man, is motivated, energetic and very smart. He's got a great sense of "community" and passion for our right to vape that is unrelenting. His views of the big picture are right on target. I truly believe he will take his convictions beyond a level any of us have seen.

I can't forget to mention the others that asked not to be named in our announcement. They were just as much a part of this as the rest of us and offered their own talents, skills and personalities that attributed to our success as a team.

It is wonderful to be a part of such a great team who, and I will put it bluntly, all worked their asses off to get this done. I think I can say on behalf of all those mentioned above that we greatly appreciate those of you who are joining us now in support of this Brief by PMing your personal details to us.

Believe me, I realize that on a public forum it's not always considered a wise thing to give someone else your information. But in this case it shows your dedication, compassion and conviction in this fight we're all in together. And, with that, I want to express a resounding "Thank You" to each and every one of you.

I am in no way excluding those who choose not to disclose their information. It took me 8 months to get to this point. To be honest I still had some reservations in putting my real name out there knowing that it could be viewed in a very public federal court case.

So... Thank all of you who have collectively expressed your support and appreciation within the pages of this thread - That speaks volumes. More so than what any of us could do on a personal level. Just think, the ASH lurkers and trolls read THIS! They ARE WRONG and they KNOW IT!

[Personal thought: "Right now at this moment, nothing, not even the naysayers of the world, can bring me down. Because I know that we (our entire community) kicked a little ASH with this one."]

And, with that thought in mind I say, "Hell Yeah!" :D
