Hi all,

I'm Thomas, billionth time lurker/reader, first time poster. LOL.

I did a little research here before purcasing my first E-cig, a Joye Ego.

I do love Ecigs! I haven't quit the analogs entirely, but i'm on my way. I was a pack-a-day smoker before I got my ecig, and now I'm down to about 5 analogs per day. (a huge improvement IMO)

I even got a buddy of mine to make the ecig jump, and he ordered an Ego-T. He loves it "right out of the box".

My experience has been a little rougher, but I'm not discouraged at all.

Upon reading loads of info about Direct Dripping, I ordered Drip tips with my original EGO purchase.

I love the flavor of the Dekang Menthol juice that i bought right off the bat, but I kept getting the "burnt metal" taste when direct-dripping.

I tried 2 drops, 3 drops, 4 drops, blowing out the atty, flooding the atty by accident, etc etc.

It's safe to say I CANNOT get direct-dripping to work. I tried a "USA mix" cartridge that came with the EGO, and the flavor is not my cup of tea, but the vapor production was very nice, and NO burnt taste! :)

So today, i received my Backwoods Brew juices, and I put the "cappucino" flavor into a cartridge that i cleaned out. LOVE the flavor. However, i blew out the atty, but it still has a lot of residual "menthol" flavor from when I was direct-dripping. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to clean the atty somehow (saw a guy doing it with alcohol on Youtube, and then letting it dry for 2 days)

So I just wanted to say Hi :happy0034

........and what Newbie thread would be complete without a question?

So, despite all my research, I can't tell what accessories are compatible with the EGO. (the battery, to be exact)

Does 510, 910, 801, etc all fit the EGO battery? (like cartomizers, drip tips, and the like) I have the "cone type" atty on my EGO fwiw.

thanks,
-Thomas

Do yourself a favor and order some Smoktech Dual Coil Cartomizers! They come 510 and are the best carto out there. I've used them on an eGo battery and they outperform every other atty/carto I've tried. Your BWB will be well served, and you just THINK it tastes good now, hehe.

Welcome to ECF! I don't have alotta time and posts in here, but what I've learned has given me the basis for my proclamation. Good luck on your cessation and happy vaping!

To clean, soak in alcohol for 30 minutes then let it drain through it. Rinse in hot water then blow out through threaded end. Turn upside down, threaded end up, for a day.

Dripping has a little bit of a learning curve. I still screwup and get the metal taste from vaping it dry. Biggest thing is to keep it wet at all times. After 4-5 good puffs, add 2-3 drops.

like hairball says....

i use that disgusting atty taste as a benchmark of when i need to drip...
kinda have gotten used to it...because, truth be told...i will never know when the perfect time to top off is...
if i do it prematurely, i end up flooding the atty and have juice everywhere-

and btw, Menthol is like nigh impossible to get out of the atty, so i keep a special menthol atty around always-

I will definitely look into this. I was searching youtube, and this guy showed what he called a "tank-omizer". may be the same concept you're talking about.

Thanx for the goodluck wishes as well :) I'll be more inclined to kick the analogs once i can get everything working properly.

Hey there naga Im new to so thought i'd say a quick hello (waves)

Hello! :)

510 and 306 are compatible with the eeeeeeeGo-
welcome to the forum =)

306 stuff too? Awesome. Opens up my choices quite a bit farther.

Thanks for the input! I tried blowing out the atty onto a paper towel (from both ends) and wiping the inside to get the excess out, but I still got quite a harsh menthol taste masking my BWB cappucino :(

As for dripping, I'm going to give it up for a while. Although, I just saw a new supplier's thread who makes Glass Drip tips, and they look awesome. Maybe I'll give it another go later on.

I just had this same thought today, actually. Gonna try and order a 5-pack of attys, and keep one for each flavor I like. I have 3 Dekang's, one of which I don't like. And i have 3 BWB's. I'll have to clean my menthol/cappucino/vanilla atty ASAP. (I'm pretty sure I've got remnants of all those flavors still there, but the menthol is overpowering the others)

Thanks again for the welcomes!

Just did a quick search, and it seems GreenhouseOne has these for $2 apiece. But they're in China. Is there anything I should worry about buying from overseas? (customs, etc etc)

I just saw them in LR and standard resistance. Do i want low resistance for better vapor production? I just don't wanna prematurely kill my battery.

^will do. It's pretty cool that MadVapes is in my home state of NC (makes for quick shipping) I'm looking at getting the Ego MEGA DUAL COIL CARTO in the "clear" variant, so I can see what's going on. I'm a very visual person :) I hope I won't end up cracking the plastic and regretting my decision.

I also want to get a 5-pack of clear cartomizers, so I can keep one flavor in each.

Any recommendations of clear cartomizers, preferably carried by MadVapes? I'm looking at these:

Bauway 510 XL CE2 Style Clear Cartomizers, 2.9 ohm, 5 pack

and

510 XL CLEAROMIZER 2.4-2.6 OHM

I wanted to keep the resistance up a little higher, because this morning i read a thread by one of the suppliers that was talking about LR cart's on ego batteries. (i forget which supplier, but i think their username was "hoog" or "hoogie" or "hoagie" or something with an "h", LOL)
My general impression of that thread was that I'd be safer using >2.5 ohm stuff.

EDIT: I also wanted to try Dougiestyle's recommendation for the Smok Tech Dual coil carto's but madvapes doesn't carry them :( (well, at least not made by Smok Tech)

Also, got my EGO-T atty/cartridges today and filled it with BWB cappucino. The first 20 vapes or so was kinda nasty (primer, methinks) but flavor's getting better all the time. I'm hoping it'll come through even more from the carto's.

Just had another "spending fit" as I call them. (It's pretty hard to show restraint when I get a new toy)

took advantage of a sale posted in the "deals 'n steals" thread, and got one of those LCD batts for the ego, small parts (cone, button covers, cartridges for my regular attys), a bottle of RY4, and some clearomizers.

I still really want to try the new "fluxomizers" i guess they're called. But the site didn't have them, and wifey's gonna make me wait until next payday to order some elsewhere. hahaha.

Thanks!

I'm still very intrigued by vaping, and want to try every new gadget/carto/tank that I see. However, my wallet does not agree, LOL.

Exciting stuff :)

Just another side of the addiction, the hobbyist side which is more likely to spend money. I do like the vaping as compared to smoking, more flavors and options and it doesn't stink or need ashtrays.

Best advice on flavors is to buy small bottles of anything you think you might be interested in. I smoked Marb reds for 22 years and one of my favorite vapes is menthol and I couldn't stand smoking a menthol.

I've only been vaping since Tuesday, haven't touched a cig since. I have quite a few different flavors and am trying to mix the ones I can't stand(chocolate, tobacco+cocao) with some I can't taste(stawberry and apple) and some I like(menthol and english toffee).

I smoked about a pack a day and go through about three tanks a day with my Joye eGo T with 24mg/ml VG juice, very good stuff

This makes me feel much better. I was scared if I did a whole Ego-T tank full of 24mg, I would get nicotine OD symptoms. glad to know you're doing 3 a day and not feeling horrible; makes me feel more confident emptying a single one in 24 hrs :)

(i was a pack-a-day smoker before I started vaping)

what does drip mean?

that's referring to "direct dripping" or using a drip tip to drop e-liquid directly onto your atomizer. It's good for 4-5 puffs depending on who you ask, and then you need to drip again. I haven't had any luck, and won't do it again anytime soon, because no matter how much liquid I put on there (even to the point of flooding the atty and it runs out the bottom) I couldn't get rid of the burnt taste -- usually associated with puffing on a dry atomizer.
