I am really surprised at the amount of fellow vapors that are allowed to vape at work.
I work for a major insurance company that adopted a "tobacco free" policy last year.
When I advised that my e-cig did not contain tobacco and it was not smoke but rather a vapor being emitted they were not impressed. Granted this is may be the largerst insurance company around and you would think that something that could get their employees off tobacco might be something they would at least take a look at.
Well no, they do not allow e-cigs on their premisses period.
Obviously you can't fight them, but was very tempted to fight it.
The e-cig is tobacco free. if they are trying to ban nicotine on premises, then they would have to ban any product that contained it..... uh natural food items potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant......etc.
But instead I am forced to steal vape when on their property.

I have been vaping now and analog free for one year and four months, so IMHO e-cigs are a alternative to analogs.

I've gotten the OK from my 2 supervisors - one even asked why I'm still going outside! But the Postmaster is a ....h and would probably say no just because she can, so I haven't even brought it up with her. I've let a few of my co-workers know what it is, and vaped a bit to see if they thought it was nasty or not (non-smokers), and they said it was OK too. But I wanted to wait until I got some flavors that weren't all tobacco-y because I know it does leave a little aroma in the air. So I'll probably be a bit stealthy this coming week and see how it goes.

I work from home, but I have a very strict schedule. I clock in and clock out for lunch and breaks and before was running at my break time so I could get in a smoke or two outside before my allowed break time was up. Now I just vape when I feel the need for nicotine and spend my breaks doing laundry or dishes or other stuff that I used to have to do when I get off work. Working from home has more perks in the last week than it has for the last two years.

I vape all day at my office and so does my husband. We both use a passthrough at our computers. Everyone knows, no one cares. I work off campus for a university, he works in a small engineering firm. I have another friend who vapes at work where he is a floor supervisor at the company that makes Gladd products (trashbags, etc). He says his boss is very supportive of it.

Just giggle to yourself while you vape in the bathroom stall (and anywhere else they aren't looking). They think they know so much but they really have no idea.

Apparently I work for communists and buffoons. We build electronics, and I run the repair station for the company. I asked HR, did a demo, and while they were impressed and it didn't smell bad (vanilla) the had to talk to the general manager. A few days later I was told the "perception" would be I was smoking so no, they didn't want assembly workers vaping at their desks or have to deal with the naysayers.

So, I vape in my office, all the people who work for me know what it is and fully support me, I vape in the nearby one-person restroom, and I vape outside. Perception is a funny thing, no food is allowed on the manufacturing floor, but they can chew gum, it kinda looks like eating. So basically I agreed and ignored, had the GM walk into my office unannounced once right after a big vape, still waiting on the other shoe to drop for that, but I doubt anything will come of it. No one else wants my job.

lol i am not asking or telling them JACK!! i will NOT have them telling me "no" out of ignorance. lucky for me i work secluded in my corner office. i draw the blinds so passersby cant see and go run to my boss "SHES SMOKING IN HER OFFICE!!" nope, forget it. i am not risking being told no, it will really make me mad and ruin the whole point.

I can or should I say - I haven't been told I couldn't. My co workers support me and love the fact that I am not smoking or smell like smoke. However, I do go outside when I want to really toke it up because I don't want to attract too much attention.

Same here. We (me and one other vaper) vape at our desks. He even brought his PV into one of our planning meetings and used it. He was coy about it, not making a big scene or huge plume of vapor. Like you, if I need a break and really want to take a few big drags I'll go outside or into the stairwell as to not attract too much attention. I'm the 2nd vaper, he broke the ice and presented anyone concerned the information that is available. Co workers are just glad we don't smell like ashtrays anymore.

Half of the colleagues in the office were vaping at desks 2 years ago, including me, none said anything :)
But we are IT company, we get away with everything, no dress code, no strict working time... none cares as long as the great web hosting is running and customers are happy :)
The IT world has been on the leading edge of results over looking pretty for a long time. Hell even IBM has loosend their dress code from what I hear lol!
