No good news yet guys,it snowed here and everything is still melting away.There's still a good bit of water in the hole and I want to be able to see the bottom before I start my search.I hope tomorrow the water will be down and I can find my baby,my Ody is getting lonely.
If you cant lift the grate off yourself, I would try calling the city and explaining that your very expensive property fell in. Surely they would send someone out to get it out for you? Its worth a phone call. Good luck and thank goodness you have a backup.

This is a very good idea. Calling the City department in charge will know the likely hood of where an object of that weight could have traveled to in the system.
