Okay so on Sunday I was vaping my Kanger Dripbox at work. I was completely okay with it while it was on standby, NOT OFF. I went to refill a guys coffee and the mod just exploded on me in my pocket. The battery was leaking when I looked at it afterwards but I'm not sure what caused it. Luckily I was okay but my hoodie and jacket were not. If you can, please let me know on what it might be and some simple things to do and to look out for with mods as I have been vaping for a mere month. Thank you so much with whatever feedback I can get from you guys.

Was there any tears in your battery wraps?

What kind of batteries were you using?

Did you have loose batteries in your pocket?

Is it possible that the battery door popped open and the batteries shorted on something in your pocket like keys or change?

Happy to hear you are okay!
I was about to ask about the same thing tear to the wrap.

The other things i would have asked are.

Was he stressing the battery?
How old was the battery!
Was it a good top shelf battery or a crappy EFEST that most eCigarette stores try to push?

Glad you're only "almost" dead.

We can't help you without more information from you--what kind of battery were you using?

May I suggest you visit Mooch's blog and read about battery safety and how to choose a battery for your mod:

Glad that you are OK! Over Squonking and getting eliquid into the board and onto the batteries? Not turning the mod off and it kept firing in your pocket, bad battery and or wrap, over tightening the battery with the cap adjuster- don't know?
I have the DripBox and I don't like it, I only used for a few days before I decided it wasn't for me!

so the battery was a brand new lg hg2 18650 but i doubt it was the cap adjuster because i could have still tightened it down about half a turn more. im not sure if it exploded but sparks and fire were shooting like crazy and when i checked the battery was pushed through the actual top of the mod
Ouch... Sorry to hear of your troubles...

Not to be morbid but...Got any photos?

Best of luck

Just curious where you got that LG HG2 18650 from?

Could your battery have been a Fake HG2?

There's another fake LG HG2 variation out there!

Can you identify the fake LG HG2 18650 Battery?

between here and there
Was anything else in your pocket besides your mod? Possibly something pushed against to fire it, or loose change or anything?
Please follow ecig safety and always turn your mod off before putting in a pocket or purse......You were fortunate that you were not hurt, but lesson learned.....a mod can be replaced, you cannot. Glad you are still with us unharmed.

I think I almost vented a battery in my first dripbox. I was using as usual then had to change the battery. Did the swap no big deal.... the next thing I knew I took a toot and was going to set it down but the mod just kept getting hotter. It wasn't firing just getting hotter. Luckily I was outside I quickly removed the battery hot as heck and chucked it in the yard. It didn't vent but must have been close. After inspection the dripbox has a little o ring like insulator up where the positive battery connects to the mod, mine had come off during the battery swap it was pushed onto the side of the tube. Not sure if maybe this was part of your issue or not just what happened to me. I bought that dripbox right when they first came out, maybe its been fixed. I had another one I bought at the same time that has not had an issue, but I am always checking that little ring with a light when I change batts.

My dripbox was sitting on my counter and auto fired. Had vaped on it for a few hours it was fine, I left for a couple hours and when I came home it had fired until all the insulators and drip tip was melted inside the atty (a nuppin).
I started messing with it and found that the slightest downward pressure on the top of the mod cause it to fire. I have a couple batteries that are slightly longer than most of my 18650s and it would auto fire with those also.
