Yep, as the title says, I was about 5 seconds away from having an analog today. Ok that's not really that interesting I suppose, but the events that almost led me to it were a bit interesting to me. I was in a town I don't even live in, looking at houses to buy, waiting patiently at a stop light when I was rear ended in my brand new car by some guy running late for work <Probably texting, but he never admitted it>. I got out and really went off on him, as I had a 3 year old in the backseat I was concerned about. Then he did it.........He lit one up, yep a pure american cigarette. Damn him, I was so mad, no I was freaking out about my 3 yr old and about my g/f and my car......at that moment I NEEDED a cigarette, needed one, really, seriously needed one. Cop sirens in the background, Ambulance on its way, and oh dear, I didnt? Right? No way in hell I did............Yes I did, stash an old M401 model in the car for emergencies. Was it still charged? OH WOW, it was <Given, it was only put in there a month ago, but still......>..............Took that baby out and puffed it till it blinked at me several times <Yep I overheated her, lol>. I'm so grateful for things such as this, I truly woulda been back on analogs today if I didn't stash that old e-cig in my car. For those wondering, the 3 yr old was just fine, the g/f was looking back at him at the time and suffered some minor whiplash, but is a-ok! I...............Well I got a little extra package on me, so I was just fine, thank goodness for e-cigs, old, new, outdated or not, Something one might throw away, might just save another from smoking a real one. Maybe you have a few old batteries and a couple cartos laying around for a family member who is struggling to quit ;).

Glad you didn't give in. Although, I have a sneaky suspicion you wouldn't have been satisfied with an analog.

The last analog I had was awful! I gave in to the temptation to smoke one and after a few puffs couldn't figure out what I ever enjoyed about them. Tastes like crap after getting used to vaping enjoyable flavors. I think it's something about your brain and how it recognizes the Nicotine. When we're smoking we crave the smokes because our brain associates the taste of a cig with the Nicotine. After quitting a while and vaping instead, the brain no longer related the taste of cigarette smoke with Nicotine but instead associates it with the flavor you vape regularly.

Of course that's all just my theory and may be completely off. I just know that when I would use smokeless tobacco for a while I couldn't stand cigarettes and then when I would smoke for a while I couldn't stand the smokeless tobacco. It always seems to depend what I'm using most to get the nicotine into my body as to what's appealing to my senses.

I still catch myself grabbing the pack of smokes off the top of the cabinet at my house. My wife still smokes so there are still always cigarettes around and old habits are hard to break. I'll grab the pack, open it and start to grab out a cigarette and then I'm like "what the Hell am I doing"?

Funny how our complex brains hold on to old habits so long.

Point is you didn't pull out a cig. Almost only counts in hand grenades. YOU DID NOT SMOKE.
Really sorry about the car. Just be glad nobody was hurt. Things can be fixed or replaced. Glad you had an alternative. Glad you didn't smoke. Someday you will get sick of the thought of tobacco. I did at only 2 weeks.

GLAD THE KIDS OK!!! I have 5 so I know the feeling, well times 5 haha.. This may turn into a thread on bad days, not to take over but I wanna add how these help so much in distress.. last weekend wife calls saying batts dead, 400$ in groceries in the rear of the Caravan, thank god for my $80 battery booster lol, gets her home. So reason why the batts messed is a week prior she calls me saying "JAMES WTF, VANS GOING LIKE WE HAVE AN ALARM" long story short I knew i heard that beep when started a few times but we never got a beeper when bought used so wasn't 100%. Told her how to remove the horn fuze and she made it home with headlights and rears flashing like it was stolen haha. Me having a temper couldn't figure it out i yanked the negative cable cause it wouldn't come loose and pulled the terminal out, knew i messed up lol. Wake up the next day and friggin thing wont start, boost it and get going never taking the foot off the gas and manage to make it to Canadian tire, hung over, bad back and stressed i pull out my Twist and T2, oh wait only the drip tip comes damn it, came apart and my juice goes everywhere in my ego case.. Moral of this story is thank God i carry 2 atta time......Be prepared ppl, carry 2 and have 4 at home lol

Yay for injury-free accidents! Yay for willpower! Big yay for PV backups! :)

My friend had a close call today, too. TERRIBLE day, big stress... He was busily getting all worked up and the next thing I knew he had a cigarette in his hand. He's been cig-free for almost two weeks and I was, like, "You're REALLY going to smoke that?" Yep, that's me-- a soothing voice of reason. It only *sounds* like nagging, with just the tiniest hint of condescension thrown in for good measure. Ha! So of course this just made him irritated-- and more determined! He grabs a lighter and bolts outside because, you know, SALVATION is waiting there. A minute goes by. Front door opens and he's standing there looking like he ate something rotten. He said, "I TRIED to have it. It's just too disgusting." Then, another look: like he just lost a friend but, oh well, he was a crappy friend. Then, a laugh. Then a vape.

'Cause sometimes you just gotta.

Yep! Took me 3 months before I stopped reaching for an ashtray when I wanted a vape :p

If you do slip, it's not the end of the world, just regroup your thoughts and start again, half of this battle is mental, and the nic is the physical. Don't feed into the the drama of "Oh noooo I blew my record of XXX days - that is nonsense, there is no record that matters. Stress relief is what kept us smoking for the most part, so don't let a slip bust your bubble and cause more stress! The only thing that does matter is the fact that you have the tool now to make a conscious decision with a workable alternative....you can do it, and every less ciggy is a win situation! Celebrate the ones you didn't smoke, but no need to punish or berate yourself for being human and a creature of an addictive habit. Just dust off and renew your efforts :toast:
