New York (no, not the city)
So the other day I drove into town on errands, and I just took my detachable-USB 510 passthru with me. On the way home there was an accident and all the traffic was being routed back into town through a neighborhood. At one point a tractor-trailer pulled over, obviously lost, so I stopped and got out to try and help him. Also ended up talking to a UPS driver, and a woman who also didn't know where to go. So i get back into my car, take the detour and get back on the main road after the crash - when I realize that I didn't have my e-cig! I searched in my seat, under the seat, in between the seat and console, in the door panel, in the passenger seat, under the passenger seat...no go. At this point I was back on the main road and the traffic was moving normally, so I drove back to town and the accident was cleared. Turned off into the neighborhood...and laying there on the side of the road was my back-and-white 510 passthru! *Whew!*
I have a bad habit of leaving my piece on my lap when I'm in the car. *Every time* I get out of the car I drop it on the ground. Some of the units are getting rather scuffed.

So how close have any of you come to losing your prized piece?

Several times I have left my PV in the car, which is bad when you are as forgetful as me. Had a nice panic attack each time. But once I dropped it without realizing it at my brother-in-laws house out in the boonies. Was walking around the property, fairly inebriated, at night and dropped a black 510 on the ground! LUCKILY! When it hit, it landed on the button and the LED flashed. Took me the better part of 10 minutes to find it even at that, but I did recover it! Oh, and I have lost several Cartos and an atty to the couch monster! Fall between the cushions and are never seen again.
