Is it dumb luck? I've had my DIY stuff for a month or so and made maybe 10-12 different mixes. I went to mix up a few more bottles last night and decided to just make the two I like the most (an RY4 that's quickly becoming my ADV and a Butterscotch) and another RY4 that's pretty good. Nothing has been un-vapeable, though I've decided I don't like AP much and probably won't use it again.

I'm conflicted between trying more stuff (like, I wonder how Hawaiian punch is as a stand-alone) and just sticking with my 2 faves for now. I only smoked one brand of cigarettes at a time, so why do I need a dozen flavors of juice? Is the newness already wearing off or am I just boring?

I sometimes stick with one Flavor for a week sometimes I change flavors every hour. Just mix as you want... If you want to have steak every night go for it you get a lot of freedom with diy enjoy it. Sometimes I use the same flavor and occasionally and a few drops of something else into my evod just to change things a bit

If you want to use the excuse that you only smoked one brand of cigarette you should go flavorless. Less stuff to buy and removes the question of inhaling flavorings not tested for inhalation.
You'll be surprised at how fast it goes from bland to being like smoking that same brand of cigarettes for 30 years.

The reason I want flavor options is to keep the excitement in the marriage. I may stick with one for a very long time but eventually it's like eating lobster every night, lobster starts losing its appeal.
This quickly happened with the watermelon flavor that got me to accidentally quit smoking for a night. Now I can't taste that flavor at all. It's one of the reasons I started to DIY. Now I'm vaping a watermelon that I can taste again.

If you only stick with one thing how will you know if there not something else that you may like better. I have 2 main vapes that I've used right from the beginning. But I constantly try other mixes and have found several more that I like as change of pace vapes. I too only smoked one brand for 40 years but I have from time to time switched that up with something else for a short term change of pace. Now that I'm vaping and not using analogs I find myself switching things up for the short term at least a few times a week. It's really unavoidable with the vast amount of flavor possibilities out there as well as the fun in exercising your creativity.

Good for you. DIY seems pretty easy. I've been at it for 3 months and I have tried some recipes I've found here and modified them a bit. No real innovation but like you say nothing unvapeable. I'm getting into steeping small samples to try out the plethora of TFA flavors I have bought. For $1.40 for 4 ml I say go crazy and try small batches. Next up is sample mix batches. Just keep notes and keep it scientific. The same base and accurate measurement, etc. I think the real art is in understanding how to blend flavors which can take years and that's where you're going to get some unvapeable liquid albeit a small batch with no wasted nicotine. I already have some blends in mind. It's great to hear of another fellow DIY'er having success. I tell people if you can make a cup of noodles....

I can help with making unvapable:facepalm::(

I tripped over a sort of ADV. Not what I want, but acceptable until I can figure out the right thing.
I keep trying and hoping but it really isn't as simple as we like to think. As the taste buds start coming back the good becomes Okay and the Okay becomes nasty.
I can't even stomach any Tobacco flavors now and it has only been 11 months since I quit.
