Yes, I am aware.

The choices came down to cignot vs cigeasy aka 510 vs KR to get something I could try for a low upfront cost.
Lets do a pros, and cons list with my very limited info on these.

As I understand it, the parts for the KR cost less then 510.
Pro KR for these two specific kits the KR comes with 5 atomizers, 510 comes with 2

KR probably has a more complicated way to "refill" vs the 510
Pro 510 when first starting, probably even after becoming more familiar with either device

Up front cost for KR $35.90, Up front cost for 510 $40.00 though it should be $35 since on the site it says that kit has free shipping, but doesn't reflect that when checking out
Basically Even between the two

batteries
They both come with two, so even again

Choices of flavor on starting kits
510 = 5 prefilled carts(Marlboro High), KR = 5 Cartomizer of various flavors + FREE BONUS 10ml BOTTLE of various flavors
Pro for KR, and Con for 510

One thing I don't know is with cartomizers, do you have to have the same liquid as whatever flavor the cartomizer originally was? For instance Cherry cartomizer, after it is out of "juice" do you need more cherry liquid for the same flavor, or if you put in another flavor will the vapor becoming mix between the 2?
Like a used cherry cart if you later drop tobacco flavored liquid in there is the vapor then going to be cherry + tobacco? or just tobacco?
I assume you can mix, or completely empty a cart if you want to put in a new flavor and don't want a mixed flavor, but I don't know for sure.

Those are all the criteria I can think of to measure the two against each other considering I have never seen either in person.
Given that info the KR seems to be the way to go. Unless I have incorrect info, or someone knows a place with different prices, or other info that would change those outcomes. Or has more things I should add to the pros/cons list.

I've got more Vapor4Life cartomizer cons that I personally would add to the list...

1) Far less vapor that the 510
2) Juice has an underlying perfume taste

Pros that I believe it is safe to add...

1) The KR808D-1 batteries last longer
2) The PCC is a little bit better in my opinion but your needs may vary

You said initially that you wanted vapor, so I am suggesting the 510 for you.

The Bartleby does look cool and all, but $50 for just a part of something I have no clue if I am even going to like is kind of steep. If it was a whole device for $50 I'd probably go for it, and just get the juice else where.

If this is something I do find a like a whole lot I could see going that route.

To address those points
Vapor, that seems to be pretty subjective. I have read post saying both are superior and since I can not weigh in on that cause I do not have either I exclude that as a criteria
I wouldn't mind hearing from others how subjective this part of the equation is.

Juice, I had not heard that about the juice for the KR. I actually figured they used the same liquid, but I guess not. I'd like to hear more feedback on that

Function part, I have not given either more points on that. Like the vapor this seems subjective at best. As for form, I could care less for either.

I am not buying anything today anyways, so I do hope to hear more feedback.

....there are $10 disposable 510's out there to "try" first.
http://www.madvapes.com/Details.aspx?itemId=510DISP1PKBL

dont know what flavorings they come with tho

read a review of the disposable 510 here

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...views/56322-510-disposable-review-hoog-3.html

oh and one thing i can say about the 510 is...... I've seen a lot more mods with provisions for 510 atomizers than the kr808. I know a lot of people love these kr's but... in my research for buying my first e-cig, I didnt notice anything really about the KR. 510s, 901s, 801s... saw them everywhere.

BUT! That's just my experience, which is limited.

Also, the vendors on this site aren't stuck-up. I'm sure if you discuss your needs with them... maybe they can work it out to throw in some flavored e-liquids to try instead of the standard tobacco cartridges. You ain't dealing with huge corporations, you'll be dealing with individuals like you and I who once smoked too. Someone is bound to set you up a custom package for a good price without much hassle.

Well, first of all, you ARE going to like it.
:)

And second of all, I don't even have a Bartleby.
I love my Chucks to death.

The problem is you are going to go ahead and pay for batteries.
And those batteries are not going to last long.
And THEN you will get a Bartleby.

Or some other mod, because you want function over form.
And that is good to know when you start, since most of us don't figure that out until later.
:D

And if you start with a KR808D-1 you are not going to have any atomizers either.
So you'll need a mod and you'll still need atomizers.
Then you'll be right back where you are now.

The last thing I would suggest you start with is a KR808D-1 model.
Although I might very well suggest that to others, and have done so before.

I do like that $10 disposable idea... I might end up doing that. I am also talking to a buddy of mine, he asked me about this thing and I might get some kind of kit and just split it with him.
Just to understand how the KR one works, in those the atomizer and the cartridge are just one piece?

Edit: just read a good 510 guide so I know about those now

Yeah, from what I have read, the 808 uses cartomizers. (cartridge/atomizer combo) - i.e. it's a "2-piece" unit.

GrimmGreen's reviews of the 510 made me buy mine.

Ryum;

Not necessarily true.

Pro KR for these two specific kits the KR comes with 5 atomizers, 510 comes with 2

KR atomizers are disposable cartomizers and while you can refill them, all 5 of them wouldn't last as long as 1 well cared for 510 atomizer. I've had 510 atomizers that have lasted over 7 months. Most KR fans will tell you that you can refill a cartomizer - I've seen said - about 3 times to around 10 times. A cartomizer lasts anywhere from 1/2 hour to over 3 hours depending on use - light vapors can string them out longer.

KR probably has a more complicated way to "refill" vs the 510

To refill a 510 you take the cartridge off, turn it upside down and drop juice onto the filler and replace and vape.

To refill a cartomizer, it's suggested that you take a tool of some sort - drywall screw was mentioned recently - pop the mouth piece off, remove the internal rubber area and drop ejuice on the side of the cart wall for about 20 drops. Some then replace all and 'spin' in either a batt cellophane or a lanyard to get a centrifugal force thing going to help 'situate' the juice. Let it stand overnight (is a common suggestion) and then vape.

Pro 510 when first starting, probably even after becoming more familiar with either device

Up front cost for KR $35.90, Up front cost for 510 $40.00 though it should be $35 since on the site it says that kit has free shipping, but doesn't reflect that when checking out.

True and since you need ejuice you could add that and get free shipping at $59. But with that amount of juice, you would spend more on cartomizers to bring that to equal. You didn't mention what the shipping was on the KR so hard to tell.
Basically Even between the two

Batteries
They both come with two, so even again

To really assess this you need to know something about batteries. They have different 'mAh' milliwatthours which will determine to some extent how long they last. When it is said that KR batts 'last longer' than 510's many times it's comparing apples and oranges because some KR kits are sold with the 280mAh batts and most 510 kits are with 150mAh kits. And 510 batteries are the weak point in those kits because of that. In order to get a 280mAh batt you'd have to get a 'mega' 510 batt and they are generally more expensive than the same rated batt for the KR.

Choices of flavor on starting kits
510 = 5 prefilled carts(Marlboro High), KR = 5 Cartomizer of various flavors + FREE BONUS 10ml BOTTLE of various flavors
Pro for KR, and Con for 510

On starting kits only - 510 carts can be had for much less after the starter kit. Cartomizers - the good ones, imo, cost $10/pack of 5. And if you don't refill, that's going to run the cost up toward analog prices.

One other thing not mentioned - you can get adapters for the 510 that work with cartomizers, $1.99 at heaven gifts (you'll pay china shipping) or at altsmokes for @$7. That is how I have one Bartleby set up and the batteries on the Bartleby carry a peak voltage that you won't get out of any KR batt or any 510 regular batt that will get you more vapor out of the cartomizers than you can get with any other batt including the 280mAh which I have. You will also not run into any cutoffs and time outs that the KR batts have (some are long enough to where you don't run into that but some aren't and they can kill a good vape ;-) No cutoff on either the 510 manual or the Bartleby.

By starting with the 510 and getting an adapter for the cartos, you get the best of both worlds as someone mentioned in that 'perfect' thread.

thanks for the info Kent for the wall/car adapter
DealExtreme: $3.40 AC/Car USB Power Adapter/Charger (12~24V/100~240V/US Plug)
would that one be a problem?

One thing I can't help but notice again on that nhaler site (thanks I had not seen that one yet) is again the KR atomizer cost is 5x less.
Are the KR atomizer's life span comparable to the 510's?

One thing I am thinking about is looking into possibility of getting the Bartleby mod to work with the KR pieces

Edit: I made this post while you were writing your, going to read it now, and will edit this one appropriately after

Also really good to know, I knew it was more involved, but didn't know about the overnight time wait. That is kind of a big deal.

It was 34.90 with shipping

Okay I get the use of the Bartleby to get the power requirements for the 510, I am not really following the adapter part for cartomizers like I said above. I just don't technically get it yet.
I thought getting away from cartomizers was one main reason you went for 510s over KRs.

Was still curious about this part

"One question about adding alcohol to the liquid. From what I understand you only add a few drops. Is that really enough for something like Vodka to cause any level of inebriation? It seems like your asking a lot from the effects of such a trace amount. Or is it just a flavor thing as why you would add drops of alcohol?"
Basically trying to understand the reason why you'd add alcohol.

the only reason I add any alc is I saw it on a DIY vid on youtube. I was playing with 0 nic and found that there was no hit with vg and flavor. with no nic that was a no brainer.
I tried it like he said and I got a little hit enough to make me finish off the bottle when chain vaping in front of the comp.

would that one be a problem?

The spec to look for on adapter is the amps or milliamps - 1amp (1000ma) is best for running a passthrough or a mod with a charging cable that isn't a passthrough but acts like one - iow, you're hooked up, vaping and charging at the same time so when you disconnect, you're at full charge and get the best life from your battery.

IF you're only charging batteries - that one would be ok, but think ahead to passthroughs and mods ;-) And while you can get both at a pretty good price here:

Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.

... top two items (and another helpful way to free shipping if you get a 510 kit ;-)

OR just get the car one there and this one for the wall:
USB Dual Power Adapter

... a great price 3.90 shipped, for a dual usb port with 2 amps and 1amp - good for vaping and charging.

I have a Belkin dual for the car:

Amazon.com: Belkin Dual USB Car Charger for iPod (Black): Electronics

...one port 1 amp the other 500 ma for charging.

One thing I can't help but notice again on that nhaler site (thanks I had not seen that one yet) is again the KR atomizer cost is 5x less.
Are the KR atomizer's life span comparable to the 510's?

Like Sun says on the ATE forum there is no 'standard lifetime' for the atomizer/cartomizer but the cartomizer is built to be disposable whereas the atomizer if built to last. I'd be mad if my attys lasted only as long as what Sun expects ;-) The one's I have lost have been pure pilot error except one that was the device error a stuck button which fried the atty. I have several that have lasted for over 7 months and none that 'just died'. I'm not familiar with the KR atomizer at Nhaler - if you mean the greencig cartomizers - I have some of them and the average time I get out of them (without refilling) is 2+ hours but they have an underlying flavor that all cartos that I've tried with the exception of the ones at V4L have - and it spans across all flavors. And I haven't refilled those for that very reason. Comparing atty life to cartomizer life isn't really fair to the cartomizers because they're intended to be disposable.

One thing I am thinking about is looking into possibility of getting the Bartleby mod to work with the KR pieces

Very wise move imo. The best vapor from cartomizers are with my bartleby. But.... I'd get it with the 510 battery connection and then get the 510 to 901/carto adapter from either heaven gifts or altsmokes

No. Sorry - carts are short for cartridges, cartos is short for cartridges. So no the 510 is just cartridges with filler that you add ejuice too or that come prefilled but that is not like a 'prefilled cartomizers' which lasts much longer _as a cartridge_ but not as an atomizer. 510 atomizers last much longer with proper care.

I thought Cartomizers was the name of the part in the KR model cause cartridge and atomizer in one piece.
Would a 510 with a cartomizer basically be a e-cig but with 2 atomizers?

If you got a 510 kit with a cartomizer adapter then you'd have the 2 510 atomizers but you'd remove them and put on cartomizers (via adapter) to vape cartomizers. (that's the 'best of both worlds' scenario mentioned before and on a Bartleby even better ;-)

Okay I get the use of the Bartleby to get the power requirements for the 510, I am not really following the adapter part for cartomizers like I said above. I just don't technically get it yet.

The cartomizer would normally screw right into the KR battery but because of different threads it takes an adapter to screw into the 510 battery connection on the bartleby - just like a 510 atomizer would do.

I thought getting away from cartomizers was one main reason you went for 510s over KRs.

No. I prefer the options of having a 510 because the 510 atty's resistance is such that it is the best vapor producer in ecigs. And it's even better on a 14500 battery of the Bartleby because that battery keeps peak voltage longer and last for 8 hours heavy vaping. ymmv. What I like is that with the adapter, I can use cartomizers in those situations where refilling might be a problem - driving mainly, or for travel where a few cartomizers is better than carrrying juice. And frankly, other than 'testing' cartomizers out, those would be the only times I would actually use a cartomizer because of the vapor production of the 510 atty and the various ejuices that are my favorites - Not available in cartomizers other than through blanks but then they don't enhance the flavor like a 510 atty can do. Hope that helps you understand where I'm coming from. I like the choice of being able to use cartomizers but it's a very small part of my ecig routine. I'd never really recommend them as a starter kit or to anyone other than truck drivers or the like, where refilling and driving wouldn't be safe. But if you have a 510 it is a nice accessory. I also didn't like the cutoffs of the KR8 battery and it didn't last nearly as long as the 510 mega counterpart.

Okay first thanks again for all the detailed info. It is extremely helpful.

Let me see if I have this all correct
Power source: 510 Bartelby = $50
Bartleby

That mod box will hook into

And a mouth piece goes over this part or is the mouth there already?

$3 for combined shipping cost
For a grand total of
$62.40 + cost of juice

For using KR cartomizer
The Bartleby will hook into adapter
510-901 adapter
$2 from Heaven Gifts
1x 510-901 adapter(510 bat to 901/808D-1 at) - E-cig Multi Adapters - Wholesale & Retail Best E-smoking Supplier

Into the other end of the adapter will be hooked into
KR808D-1 Cartomizer

And a mouth piece goes over this part or is the mouth there already?

$3 for combined shipping cost
For a grand total of
$62.00 + cost of juice

Kind of weird it cost $7 to ship from that nhaler site, and 3 from China but oh well. I'd assume the shipping from China will take much longer.
Is that everything?

I realize I should just get more than one atomizer, just trying to get the basics down.

That will be one of the best first ecigs ever purchased here ;-) But yeah that's right. The only thing I'd suggest is paying the EMS shipping - the airmail there is truly the slow boat from china.

The mouthpiece on cartomizers is just part of the cartomizer but there are some that modify that but you can look that up later. As is they are good excapt I put a hole in the rubber that comes on them and use that.

Again just getting all the ducks lined up. I am sure if I were to bump up the shipping to $15 for the EMS I could instead get those pieces from another US store for a lower grand total price.

For the actual order I will probably get 2+ atomizers, the carts and try to get the juice from the same location so I have a better chance to knock off the shipping cost.

That's true on the shipping. If you go elsewhere just make sure it's a Joye 510 atty.
