Oh Canada
0 Nic is a goal IMO and not much else, I hope to be free of nicotine some day very soon. Otherwise it is pretty much inhale-able candy, lol. It's all about progress and at least some is being made. The ticket is to use the law to keep the juices legal. According to our own laws a "Nicotine inhalator providing 4 mg of nicotine or less per dose" is completely legal (eg. Nicorette inhalers) and so long as we can find a way to prove we aren't getting any more than that then we are set.
The main problem is funding a study that will appease HC and live up to their standards that seem to constantly change. But such a thing is not impossible, just costly and takes time.

It's funny how nicotine can be regulated that way when it's seems to be no more harmful than caffeine. Yet, I can buy and consume 10 cans of Redbull and pop 100 caffeine tabs (sold at the drugstore), all in one sitting if I choose to do so!! It's all so ridiculous when you think about it.

ps. 30 days off analogs thanks to e-cigs!! Yay me!

In the West
Said by someone who is not serious about quiting smoking or his addiction.

I will not deny that we are discussing this here because some A hole got us hooked on nicotine. That being said, no one held a gun to your head to get addicted, you did that on your own.

You have an addiction just like everyone else here and we are no different in the eyes of society than a street junky. (sorry forum rules and sensors do not permit to insert the proper word).

So as an addict you either free yourself from your addiction or continue to be an addict. It is just the administration of the drug that is different.

I don't condemn either... I just chose to quit nicotine instead of an alternate lifestyle. That is all :)

First of all, congratulations on quitting. I assume that you switched to vaping in order to quit?
I chose to switch to vaping in order to continue my addiction without the harmful effects of smoking cigarettes. I was tired of wheezing, coughing, and generally feeling like crap after smoking all day.
Am I ready to quit my addiction to nicotine? If I'm being honest, the answer is no. When I am though, then I have no intention of vaping any longer either.
Realistically, nicotine is really no worse than caffeine, and as such needs to be separated from the smoking issue. No one (other than health nuts) look down on you for buying a double double every day at Timmies...

Regarding your other post, I do agree that vaping in a confined indoor space could possibly cause harm to others who may have sensitivities or medical conditions, and I wouldn't be vaping in those situations. However, the open areas of a mall or another large building generally shouldn't affect others unless you blow it in directly at them, and that just makes you a *insert word of choice here*.

I was downtown vaping away and a guy came up and asked for a light. I showed him my PV and said I don't have a light ... I wasn't smoking. He looked at it, looked at me, said the "F" word and walked away.

I was waiting for my wife in front of Costco and the member-card checking lady told me I had to smoke 30 meters away from the front of the store entrance. She looked like she was having a very bad day so I didn't do the PV explanation deal. Once somebody is halfway ...... about something ... even if they're mistakenly ...... ... it's easy for them to go all the way.

I was vaping while waiting for the ferry at Port Angeles in the parking lot when a customs guy came up behind me and said (In A Very Disgusted Tone), "Don't let the No Smoking signs intimidate you sir." Then he walked away before I could turn around and show him my e-cig.

Those were the negative ones.

I've lost track of how many times desperately-trying-to-quit-smokers have approached me and asked:

Is that one of those electric cigarettes?
Do they work?
Where can I get one?

The good confrontations definitely outweigh the confrontational confrontations.

You raised valid points but the issue is not smoking or nicotine it is smokers. It took the best part of 25 years for them to lepersize us, we ain't about to change public opinion over night, not by any stretch of the imagination. In order to regain the foothold we once had, we take baby steps. I have no problem vaping in public places, friends houses etc... OTOH the same old Q, shouldn't you be off that already. That is what we are fighting whether we like it or not.

Purely playing devils advocate here... How does it feel to be a minority? Remember the non-smokers put up with our stench for years, so lets cut them some slack while we educate them in a civilized manner.
