I've been browsing break thru lately, that's how I found out about a few of them. I've searched digikey, mouser and a few other sites but Im not really sure what criteria a chip should meet to make a sufficient box mod. I mean i know obviously you want at least 5+ amps, an input voltage that can withstand 4.2 or 8.4v depending if I you use single or dual and wire in series or parallel, and well I think that's about as far as my knowledge goes.

I'll definitely look into the lambda and PTN04050, already ordered a raptor and okl2 t12.

Thanks a lot guys!

How many volts/watts/amps are you looking to build for? I can name all the chips I've used (that are all easily accessible on digikey):
OKR-T/10
OKL-T/20
NSR020A (Raptor 20A)
TDK Lambda 20A

You can check on Breaktru forum they have multiple different buck regulators you can build with.

Whoops, to be more specific though, I never go above 20a at 4.2v on my mech mods(unless my math is off, this is also being very generous to leave tons of room for error) but generally I'm below 40w and 10a.

The 08100 wont stack up against the OKR, since you have those or have tried them no, they are not better per se' if you don't know but the chips produce a a smoother frequency wave and the OKR has a solid 600kmhz band as the 08100 has a ~300k mhz frequency wave the 600k is smooth as silk the 300k of the 08100 is rough as nails, its brutal.. It bites per se it like shark tearing thru flesh. The 600k smooth as silk the juice just sizzles right on along.

If you look at bass in an audio system this is where the comparison makes sense the 08100 gives healthy bass notes the OKR and OKL deliver prestige midrange and tweeter..

The 08100 is uber powerful in its small size, it will vape up in the 100'w range regardless what the data sheet says! I have vaped 120w using a 3s 12aH batt out of mine still going strong for 2 years.. 90w easy all day long, After 70w you lose a percentage of board efficiency but it will do it comfortably(no heat).. The OKR will also do up to 90w but I have not battle tested it past 90w..

I have come to love my Evercool mod over all my other mods because of that bass thump but when I vape a 600k mhz mod @ same wattage as 08100 its a wow thats smooth thought/feeling/vape..

Wow awesome reply! Thanks for the analogy and info. I feel like I read about switching frequencies or something but wasn't aware it was anything to take into consideration. So all things considered the naos raptors and okr/okl would be the best price:vape quality? I still think I'm gonna try out a few of these others any how, I wanna make a box mod for my friend that got me into vaping that wants to get into mods and such but doesn't have the time or money to spend so even if the 08100 isn't ridiculously super powerful I think he'll be happy with it. Thanks again for the info!

Quite interesting. But could you clear up the frequency ranges? Because 600k mhz would be 600,000 megahertz? So 600 gigahertz :D Definitely not in the audible spectrum haha. I guess you mean 600 hz and 300 hz / hertz? Thank you!

Lol yeah it freakin screams, in all honesty they are one of the best mods around..

    It is 600k..

I dont understand how that little 08100 can put out 100w out putting only 5.5v and 10a unless you're saying it's severely underrated on the spec sheet. I heard IT underrated their products a bit but i didn't think it was that much.

    Lol
Yeah its hugely underrated but not, they give ya its true amp limitation on the spec sheet its 15amps.. At 10 amps its starts to lose efficiency so thats why its rated at 10 amps.. If you try to fire anything out of total actual spec 15 amps it wont fire it, no harm or foul will happen to the module. They are almost bulletproof.. Just don't reverse batt it lol..

One of my 08100's does up to 11v on a 3s batt and can do 115watts @9v easy.. We are not using it to sheet specs like an engineer would for continuous plotted use so it takes a lot more abuse. Its a nice little module, actually they are one of the bests IMO up to 100 watts and uber long battery life. 2.5 yrs not a single problem on any of my mods from TI, the Evercool and the Breaktruboost mods.. Heck I fire a 6amp rated breakboost at 50 watts and not a hiccup.. Its amp limitation is over 100 amps to short it/burn it up but ya gotta fire over .7ohms or it gets finicky..

There is no reason to use it tho above its rating just get a raptor/okl and have even more battery life and no worries about using outside of specs.

BTW with the 08100 or OKR I get 2 days vaping with 2s HE4's .5-1ohm attys at 30-70watts all day everyday..

    08100 3s 11v
It will only fire up to about ~80 watts at 11v but at 9v it will give ya 115 easy. yep 5.5v limit -- um no lol.

    Another 3s at 2.1v- 11.1v
    15%2B-%2B1

And the top end of my 2s mods is 7.7v its over @7.1v where i would like it but ya definitely fine above 5.5v
    15%2B-%2B2

@Visus That's amazing, i'll have to rethink my decision not to use those chips now.
My opinion for builders today is to join here:
    Log into Facebook | Facebook

read and read then get busy building a 555 pwm mod. Nothing can touch em 3k watt mods are out there with an 80 cents chip 80 cents solderable board kit, 3 dollars in passive components.. The sound they make is also awesome.. You can turn the sound off if you wanna but its really kool.. @Relayer1974 its his group, they are nutz tho lol. Uber power mods

But for just normal awesome OKR or 08100 are amazing too.

No worries if your interested David has a 555 pwm board that is really kewl.
    DualParaMos-555PWM v1.0 pcb
He also list at Oshpark Jeffs boards the micro mini 80 cents board and the board with voltage meter..
I am building this myself when I buy some new batts..

Check out relayers vids the mod is bad to the bone..
