Am I alone in like a simpler vape?

The Atlantis came out and my shop tried to explain how good it was. Don't get me wrong they are great guys. But I politely declined. Then the kanger came out. I think it looks cool but I am just not crazy about all the clouds. I did a progression as well and now my favorite is a box that only goes to 30 watts and I only use 8.3 on my 2 ohm coil that I build in my erk clone. That is my favorite set up. So basically do what is right for you. That person at the shop should of been slapped just for being an .... We all like thing different. My wife Vapes her 2 ohm coils at 3.3 volts. She loves it. If I crank it up for me she puts it back down for her. All that matters to me is she is not smoking.
There's nothing wrong with anything you do Jode as long as you're enjoying it. Once I made the move from Kanger Aerotanks to Nautilus I couldn't go back. In fact I'm only holding on to my Kangers so that I'll have something to give to another person who wants to try vaping.
That being said, I find myself swapping between my Nautilus, Atlantis, Orchid and Patriot rather frequently. Each provides its own experience and has merits that suit the mood I'm in. Maybe experiment with all your gear and see if you can find a sweet spot for each set up. If some things don't work for you just stop using them. I've shelved things thinking one day I would try again only to find that when I do give them a second chance I still don't like them.

Now buy stuff that never needs replacing, and pretty soon you will run out of things to buy.
I'll probably have to buy new batteries (in about 4 years), more PG & VG (in about 4 years), more nic base (in about 10 years), more wire & wick (in about 100 years).

I have all kinds of stuff and have spent a ridiculous amount of money; I build RDA's and RTDA's, I have ohm meters and multiple gauge wire and I mix my juice - I like to fool with stuff. My daughter has two Ego batteries with Kanger Pro-Tanks, buys replacement coils/wick assemblies, has saved a bunch and has no interest in fooling with stuff. We are both pleased, enjoy our vapes and have not smoked in months. Opposites but both equally satisfied. Don't shut up but vape how it is good for you.
I have not been vaping all that long. In fact I just passed my five month mark. I have progressed in my vape style in a pretty common fashion. I started on a simple non adjustable battery (Kanger 1000mah) and mini kanger tank. I tried a MVP2 shortly after and got one right away. I also have a few Vision spinner 2's and got an Istick when they came out. The only battery I no longer use is the simple non adjustable Kanger battery, but I hold onto it as I have let other use to see if vaping is for them. I use mostly kanger tanks (aero and mini) but have an aspire nautilous, an itaste 30 and 30B (which I barely use any more), and a couple of aspire k1's. Well, the Holidays came around and I dove in a bit more. I got a Smok XPro BT50 and a kanger sub and I want to love it but I am not sure I do. I also got an Aspire sub ohm CF mod and a plume veil, but daughter took this over until she can afford her own so I am only talking about the kanger sub and Smok mod. What I am finding is that all the juices I have come to love, taste completely different in the kanger sub. I play with the wattage but find myself always wanting to turn it way down. I am using the stock .5 ohm heads. I have the air flow as open as it allows, but if I go much over 10 watts I feel like I want to choke and that the juice taste is almost too thick if that makes sense. The juices I am vaping are 3mg so I don't think that is it. Am I just a wussy? I like the nice puffy clouds I can make with my box mod and kanger sub but the taste is bowling me over and not in a good way. I keep finding myself grabbing my simple Spinners and regular Kanger Aero or my Eleaf/Kanger set up for the best taste for me. Am I alone in this? Is it strange to be using a sub coil with such low wattage (7.9 watts or 3.3 volts depending on how you wanna look at it) or should I just shut up and vape how it is good for me? Hahaha.
Pfft-pfft, I'm using a 2.2 ohm coil on a mechanical ............. now THAT'S weird
I've been known to put my Nautilis on my Silverback mod, I think it looks good and honestly works well. Not so weird. LOL
In reply to the OP again "NO" you're ok, just do what makes you happy. While I do drip most of the time now, I do still use a tank (nautilus or my kayfun) on occasion and honestly some days don't miss the drip-vape-drip-vape too much. Again, what makes you happy is what works for you. I say don't change a thing unless you want to.
I vape for 2 reasons...to save money...and to quit smoking. Once I found what works for me, I stopped buying stuff. My tube mod is 2 years old and my last purchase was a kayfun 7 months ago.

Sub-ohm is definitely not for everyone -- that much vapor would probably kill me, and definitely bring on an asthma attack. I have 3 PVs that only go to 11w (my iTaste vv3s), and so far I've had no need to go any higher. A couple others that go to 15w (Vamo and sigelei Zmax), and have never gone past 13w, and at 13 I usually have to back off to 12 or less, because it burns my lips. I can't abide wide open airflow, it feels like trying to smoke a straw, just completely unsatisfying, so I stick to my 2 Kayfuns (with the airflow almost entirely closed off) and my cartotank, plus sometimes cartos on their own -- excellent resistance in the draw, so it's actually a great substitute for smoking.
I really don't get the thing about "cloud making" at all; the vapor I exhale is roughly comparable to what I exhaled as a smoker, maybe even a little more, and that's exactly right, since I'm trying to stay smoke-free, not create my own weather system or annoy everyone around me -- and that latter is a real possibility, since even with my high-PG juice and low wattage, sometimes my husband makes comments about why is there so much vapor. He's a big supporter in my vaping/non-smoking, doesn't really care what I spend, since I'm the one in charge of the budget so I know what I can afford and what I can't, so I certainly don't want to irritate him with it.
You're definitely not alone; in the vv3 thread, there's a lot of chat about us low-wattage vapers. and quite a few cartotank enthusiasts around here too -- it may be "old tech," but you know, "if it ain't broke..."

No, you shouldn't shut up. Let people see that there are options; that at least some people don't have to use 1.21 gigawatts to get what they want. Sometimes I think there's too much peer pressure here to crank up the power levels and blow big clouds.
I'm into simple also. After all I started vaping to stop smoking.. So the goal was to replace Pack of cigs or 2 and a lighter. Started with EGO1100 batts and Kanger Mini protank (single coil), from there to a mPT3, dual coil. Settled on the PT3, but started rebuilding them.. Got to where I found I liked the PT3 better with a single VERT coil vs the duals. I also found I wanted a little more power than the EGO 1100mah batt could provide, except when freshly charged. So I started shopping.. Tried some sub ohm build of friends, didn't like. Too hot, NO flavor, tons of steam. So I decide to go with a Kayfun tank and a Mod with a VW kick.. The Kayfun alone would have satisfied me.. Mounted on the EGO bat, Compared to the PT3 with either DIY or factory coils the Kayfun, (same ohm) put out out much more vapor and flavor. Mount both tank to the Kicked mod. The PT3 starts burning win you move the potentiometer off the lowest setting and the Kayfun can be turned up to max. So I'm happy now. I have my Brass origin Mod, Kayfun, and kick w/18500. Size wise it's fatter and heavier but with the nano tank about 1/4" shorter than the EGO/PT3. battery last a couple hours less being only 1000mah, but with the kick I vape at the same power level from fresh to dead. I have settled with power set at about 50%, 8-9 watts, running 1.85-2.1 ohm coils on 30ga kanthal and cotton balls for wicks. I find the Nano Tank runs a bit warmer, more throat hit, so I run it about 1 watt lower than with the full size tank mounted. I run the FS tank when I am out and about and don't want to bring juice with me, get about 1/2-3/4 of a day from the nano and a bit more than a full day with the FS tank.
I always figured it only has to simulate a ciggy, nothing more. That's probably 8watts or less, and unflavored eliquid has been the closest to taste- for me.
I'd rather spend my money on steak and seafood dishes than vape supplies tho. Vape cheap- eat well.

The other side of that is spend a little more, buy a better setup, and you don't have to upgrade / replace broken gear as often

I agree ... I bought a simple 1 button device and thought rebuilding coils would be hard ... then I read about the Kayfun being was one of the easiest.
Simple and very easy indeed ... I watched 2 videos, then made my first coil in about 10mins at 1.8ohms.
This simple setup became my perfect vape setup ... now I vape for next to nothing.
