Am I Crazy? PT Tastes Nothing Like Batts

Have only been vaping 6 weeks. Have been using Bloog Maxx Fusion 65mm minis (3.7v batts), their MF cartos (2.8ohm), and DIY juices. Aside from the short batt life of the minis, I really like the way they hit when freshly charged, and the MF cartos too. Great vapor and flavor both. Could not be happier with that part. Tried Phoenix 808 clearos, but the cartos give me a really nice full vape.

So since I was charging batteries like crazy, I decided to get a PT (18650 mod is in the future, and a VV PT with 510 threads also in the future, but for now wanted to be able to save money and use my 808 cartos so just wanted a simple 3.7 PT). So I got a Bloog 3.7v PT expecting it to vape like a fresh batt.

But the RY4 I've been vaping all along has an odd flavor on the PT unless I let the PT sit between single draws, (i.e. no primer puffs or what I think of as "pipe style smoking" which I enjoy doing with my batts). If I take anything but a single draw, it creates an odd burnt flavor. I kept topping the carto off thinking it must be dry, but it's the power of the PT. The only juice that tasted the same as with my batts was the grape juice.

Needless to say it is not like my batts at all and that surprised me since both are rated 3.7v. I see now why people need a VV PT. I would guess I would need to "dial down" this PT to maybe 3.5v to eliminate the burning/lack of flavor issues, and to be able to hit on it in the style I enjoy. Or maybe it's operating at something closer to 4.something. So now I am eying the VV eGo PT thinking maybe I should get that and a 510-to-808 adapter!

Anyone else have this experience? I purposely did not get the Bloog 5v PT thinking it might burn too hot. I thought I'd be safe for sure with the 3.7 and 2.8ohm cartos!

The only cartos I have are Bloog Maxx Fusions rated at 2.8 ohms. I tested them the other day and found the few I tested were indeed 2.8. I have several cartos loaded with different flavored juice, and I switch between them. I topped each off before trying, and tried 3 or 4. All the juices are the same base mix (I made them) 50% VG 50% distilled water (some maybe 60/40). And only the grape tasted normal and I could hit it a little more often without it burning. Weird!

EDIT: Maybe I made the grape juice with more VG/less water and that's why it wasn't burning... ?

If you have a multimeter, check the resistance of your carto. If it's normal, contact Bloog's CS.

OK... I don't know which cartos I tested the other day as it was before my PT came and I was just doing it out of curiosity as I read one should test their batts and cartos and stuff. I will test these specific ones I tried with the PT... thanks for your help. Appreciate it. :)

No idea. I would give them a call, anyway. If your PT is not marked, and they sell both kinds, who knows. It really shouldn't vape hotter than their batteries--if it's the same voltage. It may be a 5v PT, or it may be faulty.

Ohhh... good point! It could be faulty, who knows. Or a 5v like you say. Thanks again for your help, Katya!
