I'm just the opposite, if I hadn't stumbled onto sub ohm I don't think I would have stuck it out. The Nauti and those evod tanks just frustrated me. Then yt turned me onto Kanger mini. Never looked back. I have seen that mtl high ohm works for some, but is not for everyone or all beginners. That being said... I think the trend of shops shoving higher watt gear at noobs is irresponsible. 30w istick paired with Nauti 2 or Kanger toptank will work for many to start if the stick style does not appeal to them.

2 weeks into vaping, started at 6mg per my local vape shop, could tell I really needed to up the nic level. After finishing my 32ML bottles quickly, I stepped up to a 12mg, again didnt feel as if I was getting what I needed out of the 12mg so I ordered a 18mg bottle of some mint.
Keep in mind if you didnt read my intro, I am a 20+ year dipper, always have a chew in my mouth unless I'm eating or sleeping. I have been able to cut down to a chew or two a day which is GREAT but I dont know if I'm expecting too much so soon?
The 18mg on my Alien 220W kit either doesn't hit enough or hits way too hard, i've played with the settings, nothing I do produces a smooth satisfying hit. I start out at say 15 to 20W, I barely get any flavor or vapor, kick it up to 30-40W same thing, but I get just a little more vapor but same flavor as previous settings. Kick it up to 50-60W and damn, very harsh throat hit, and a little burn on the flavor that does not give a good experience.
I dont know if choosing Mint in 18MG was a great idea, or if another flavor would be some what tamer? anyone every experience this first hand? I dont mind the 12mg but if there is a way I can get up to 18mg, able to take a few hits and be satisfied for an hour or two that is what im trying to achieve.
Looks like you have so many issues going on here, suggest you talk it over with some of the folks at your local B&M vape shop.

Since my last post, I met a guy that makes his own juice and sales all vape related gear. After spending a few hours face to face with him and a few of his regulars, this is what I came up with.

This is what worked for me and I dont know why, but I picked up a Cleito 120 tank, some 6mg and 12mg juice. I am currently running the 12mg at 75W with the Cleito 120 and am getting more flavor and nic effects than I was with the stock baby beast that came with my Alien mod.

I'm a DLI, was when I smoked over 20 years ago, and it just felt natural when I first started vaping. And with the new tank setup, I have a feeling I will be going DOWN in the nic level and being very comfortable with it as I am achieving the results I was looking for.

This forum has been so much help, and I do realize what works for one may not work for another but this has been my experience up until now and I very much appreciate everyone who has contributed to my vaping journey this far.

So far, I've invested $130. $20. For an leaf I care solo vapor pen, with a bottle of juice on the side and $70. For a Smok Baby Kit, with an extra bottle of juice on the side.
For me, as a beginner, I find that I much prefer the leaf I care vapor pen.
It's more like a cigarette to me.

I watched a very good video about how to drag on a vapor, versus a ciggerett.
That was game changing for me.
I was trying to vape as if I was smoking a cigarette. Wrong. I ended up hacking and coughing with each hit. Not pleasant and I ended up smoking about 12 cigarettes the first couple of days in frustration.

Finally, I've figured it out, and have only had 3 cigarettes today. Down from my normal 20 cigarettes a day, that I've smoked for 50 years.

I was diagnosed with emphysema last week. So it's vapor, or it's inhaler with steroids for the rest of my life.

My plan. No steroids. Vaping is for me!

Man, good choice Dee N. It was the countless rounds of steroids with pneumonia that really sealed my fate, vaping wise. I could not imagine having any kind of quality of life on those, let alone with full blown COPD. Steroids make me wack, and by steroid round 3, I decided I would actually listen to my docs and try to vape. Ironically, just as I was making the switch I got bit by a brown recluse and needed... more steroids. But, I knew it was a one off thing at that point, so I just staunchly vaped through it. If anything, it hammered home that I was making the *exactly right* choice, and honestly, if vaping had not been available, I would have been a TOTAL mess. Congrats on choosing vaping over dying slowly and painfully while your relatives and loved ones watch in horror. To me, that encapsulates COPD. That was always the thing that I was most afraid of with cigs. I can do dropping dead of a heart attack (technically, I think I can, haven't tried that one yet) or even lung cancer (maybe) but the idea of choking/drowning on my own fluids just NEVER appealed to me.

Good thing my good old Higher Power knew exactly what to do when I'd been given many, many years to flounder around and try to quit smoking unsuccessfully! I don't think anything else would have done it, I mean I smoked peacefully and tranquilly through my docs thinking I might have *throat cancer.* I didn't think I did, but my PCP sure did, and I did go and get checked but I was rather unfazed by the possibility. Another, "Smoking thinking" moment, I was like, "Well, if so, I earned it, guess I'll just have to figure out how things go from here...." Ironically, I was comforting my PCP not the reverse.... Even escaping THAT wasn't enough to get me to pay attention, it required a few more rounds of pneumonia. Crayzee, but there it was :)

Dee, nice to see what is working for you, I can't relate to smoking cigarettes as I quit cold turkey over 25 years ago. My vice has always been a can of dip. ( 1 ) can of dip contains enough nicotine that is equivalent to ( 4 ) packs of cigs. I have been vaping for 17 days now and have avoided 6 cans of dip which would equal 480 analogs in the smokers realm.

Happy Vaping!
