Am I doing something wrong?

After 30+ years, the last 15 or so years at 3 packs a day (full flavor, almost down to the filter), I have been smoke-free for 7 weeks. I bought a cheap-o disposable at a gas station on a whim, finished the carton I had and haven't touched one since. My cough is completely gone, my new house isn't getting smoked up, etc. You all know the advantages already :)

Even though I am still saving a lot of money, I am going through atomizers like crazy. I started with the Volcano Magma-T (with tankomizers). The atomizers would only last about a week. Cleaning them with hot water, alcohol, etc. did not help. I took a few of them apart and they are caked with black gunk. If I scrape them off with a needle they do start to work decently after that, but with tankomizers you can't get to it without removing the pin and wick and then they are only good for dripping.

After going through about 6 atomizers, I decided to try the Volcano Inferno tank model. It's even worse. After about 2-3 days I can tell the liquid in the tank starts to get very dark as it gets towards empty. The Magma may have also done this but the tanks were black so I couldn't tell. Once the liquid starts to turn dark, I know the end is nigh for the atomizer. A day or so later, I get very little vapor and it's covered in crud.

By the way, I am not blaming the Volcano product. I have several friends and family I have convinced to use them, and none of them have these problems. I am using the USA Liquids from Volcano. Usually just the Menthol and Tobacco.

I'm thinking I am doing something wrong. I'm either puffing too hard, too often, or...something. It's too consistent and spread over all 10 or so atomizers I've bought over the course of 7 week to be defective products. I've tried taking longer, softer puffs but it doesn't seem to help.

Anyone else have this problem or have an idea why this is happening?

I personally have not used the volcanoe products but seems to me if your gunking up your atomizers that fast your probably a heavy vaper. How much liquid do you go through in a day? I personally have used a KR808 with cartomizers and a Reo Grand with lr attie and get a few weeks out of both atties and carts at 3 ml of juice per day. So my suggestion is to maybe start researching a product that is intended for more heavy use if that is the case.

I have the same problems with atties, but mine are because I like alot of darker juices and gunk them up alot. My solution is the boge LR cartomizers, when I considered the usage I get on standard atomizers compared to the cartos it is actually cheaper for me with the cartos and for some reason they last me about as long as an atty does without cleaning. A pack of cartos can last a good three weeks with heavy usage. I haven't cleaned any yet, but others say that they can be cleaned and work just as well.

Sounds like you are having the same problem I do. I'm heavy on the button. I don't know if your set up has an automatic option, but you might consider it. Some automatics have a timed cutoff, keeps you from overheating and frying gunk to your atty as bad. I also switched out to unflavored. Try using an unflavored liquid or a liquid with no colors to it, seems to be less build up on the atomizer that way. I don't know if you drink on occasion, but man can I burn out atties when I do. Otherwise just accept spending some money on atomizers every month. I puff on a 510 joyetech, I usually buy a new atty a month for $6.00, same as I used to spend on a pack of cigs. Plus I don't have to worry about cleaning, when they don't heat well I toss 'em.

I use Boge cartomizers and for me, thin clear juices make the carto work well the longest. I usually start a pair of cartos and can get 2-3 weeks out of the pair. I am not vaping low resistance so I am not making a lot of heat. My fave juice so far for cartos is Vapor4Life WOWbacco (a cocoa tobacco or WOWBoy which is the same w/ a bit of mint). Cartos cost $2 so even if I only got week out of each I would be happy.

I find thicker juices (even some of my 70pg/30vg ones) will gunk a carto up faster, as do any juices that leave sediment (unfortunately my fave Cocoa from FSUSA seems to leave sediment).

Thanks for the replies. I tried a couple of different cleaning methods last night and they are still too gunked up. I don't even mind if I have to buy new ones when they get dirty, but I'd like them to last longer than 3 days. :(

I may just have to get 2-3 more and clean them every night and rotate through them.

What e-juice are you using Kloodge? The heavier, darker ones will clog up any atty pretty fast. Might try a clearer liquid.

That will extend the life of the attys somewhat.

Magma-T = 510-T Inferno-T = eGo-T Same products different branding.

I have an eGo-T and the atomizers are sitting in a drawer. The LR ones are a little better but, I have other things I like better. Of the bunch, the eGo-T is the most mature and probably the most reliable but, it'll be a while till I try another tank. I just don't think they are quite there yet.
