Am I doing this wrong? Terrible battery life.

Mod electronics factor in as well as vape time and wattage. I go through 2 pairs of VTC6, HG2, or 30Q's in a 24 hour period vaping at 10W / .5 to .9 ohms MTL. I can get all day vapes from an Innokin Proton dual battery mod or a single battery Pico 75W vaping at 10W. It's on time that determines battery life. I go though about 9 to 10 ml of juice in a day.

I seem to get similar battery life from a single cell mod or a dual cell mod. High wattage capability means more drain from the electronics, even at low wattage levels. I relate that to cars. 4 cylinder gets more MPG than a V8 with the same driving style.

The regulator chip does not care what the battery configuration is, it only sees the battery/s as a pool of watt hours. The methodology you are describing only applies to unregulated devices. Two HG2s is twice as much electrical energy as one.
Thanks, that has already been pointed out...

I go through 30ml a day.

It doesn't matter if I use 2x 18650s, 1x 20700, or 1x 18650; I always go through 3 to 4 "sets" of batteries. A set being whatever it takes to fill the mod (one battery, or two).

I have regulated box mods, mech mods, squonkers, etc. Always seem to go through 3-4 sets.

One exception, for whatever reason. I don't know why but a 1x 18650 in my Luna will last for 75% of the day. I don't know if it's because there's no boost and i'm building where my coil works well at 3.3V as much as 4.2V. It just lasts for a really long time and I don't know why.
