Am I harming my daughter

Hi all
I just wanted your opinions, if I may.
I quit smoking around 5 months ago and now vape like a champ lol.
In never smoked analogues in the house. However now I vape in the living room frequently.
I am concerned as my 17 year old beautiful daughter has heart disease and I wonder if there is anything in the vapour that will harm her. I never smoked cigs anywhere near her, but as far as I understand she is safe from my vaping???
Thanks in advance you lovely people
Donna

no you are not there have been many studies that have shown expelled vapor is harmless

Medium or long-term? No there haven't.

I personally wouldn't risk it. Heck we don't even know the full effects of vaping on our own bodies.

Not trying to be a douche about it, I truly believe that vaping is saving my life, but let's be up front and clear here. The truth is we really don't know if vaping is safe and we certainly don't know the effects of second hand vaping on people with heart disease. I know for the most part we were lied to as smokers as to the effects of our second-hand smoke on others, I don't know if I would feel comfortable telling someone that it is safe.

Now is it safer than smoking or smoking around others? - I'd have to say yes, I believe it is, but again there is no hard evidence (EDIT that it is safe)

Pumping it in hospital air handlers for years...hmmmm

you are certainly entitled to your own opinion, the studies of what is in exhaled vapor are quite scientific however and DO show NO harm from secondhand vapor and that is exactly what we are discussing here. The direct studies completed in Greece also show MOST vape e-juice has extremely little effect on heart tissue directly. I think the studies are linked on the CASAA site if you wish to rad them

The only thing harmful about second hand vapor is the trace amounts of nicotine in the vapor, which is roughly about 10x less than what is in second hand smoke from analogs. Vapor also disapates much faster than smoke does so it is not lingering in the air for very long. So the short and sweet of it, nope, not hurting your daughter at all, at least nothing that is known so far, but there has not been nearly as much time to study it as there has been for smoking analogs. If you have any fears or worries its always best to be safe for your own peace of mind. Vape in a well ventilated area.

Thanks so much you have eased my mind
My baby tends not to like all the vapour so I only vape clouds when she is in her room, but I do take the odd stealth vape when she is around. I'm glad to know I am not causing her harm as I couldn't live with myself putting her at risk. She goes through enough as it is. Smoking was my way of coping, now I have found a healthier alternative.

Yah, know...the answer is that it probably would not cause harm but we cannot say for absolute certian. I vape in my living room, my dad lives with me, he has a history of heart disease too. I try to minimize his exposure by not doing it a ton around him, just a few puffs here and there. When he is not in the room I will vape more, and periodically turn on the ceiling fan and open a window to blow it out of my house. In my house (a cabin, basically), we don't use any sort of air circulator like you would have with central heat and air, I think those systems pull vapor out of rooms pretty well.

Thanks KJ, I am not trying to prove or disprove anything here and I knew what I posted would not be a popular opinion on the forum and so expected flames. Thanks for not flaming and providing more information.

I've seen the linked studies on the CASAA site (I am an active member) but I maintain that we have insufficient information to draw conclusions.

The study you reference can be found BMC Public Health | Abstract | Peering through the mist: systematic review of what the chemistry of contaminants in electronic cigarettes tells us about health risks. here for those seeking more information. Also, a range of studies can be found Learn About Electronic Cigarettes here.

More than you might imagine...just remember It's not the nicotine...

N.H.
so it pretty clear that PG is safe and i agree there does not seem to be alot of risk from secondhand vaping.

but there are flavoring and VG as well, in vape which we dont know so much about.

i think the smart thing to do would be not to vape in the same room as your dauther atlest for now until we know i little more about the flavor we use for vaping.

but i dont think there is alot of risk in secondhand clouds
