You need what you need to get off cigarettes. I know long time smokers that needed 30+ for the first few weeks to get off cigarettes completely. There's no real correlation between what you smoked and what you should vape.

I smoked 1 1/2 pad and started with 24mg, then 30mg, then 36mg augmented with some nic gum once in a while. Never overdosed, I know I get hiccups from too much nic. Learned that from previous quit tries with gum and lozenges. After 3 1/2 years I'm down to 15-18mg and vaping 3-4 mL per day.

New-generation EC devices were more efficient in nicotine delivery, but still delivered nicotine much slower compared to tobacco cigarettes. The use of 18 mg/ml nicotine-concentration liquid probably compromises ECs' effectiveness as smoking substitutes; this study supports the need for higher levels of nicotine-containing liquids (approximately 50 mg/ml) in order to deliver nicotine more effectively and approach the nicotine-delivery profile of tobacco cigarettes.

I started on 18mg and went up to 24mg as it wasnt strong enough, anything less and I vape too much ml of juice in a day. When I start mods and RDA dripping etc I probably will use lower nic juice but at present 24mg suits me fine. I was a pad smoker and honestly I would rather vape 1-3ml of 24mg juice instead of 10ml of 12mg, everyone is different so just do whatever keeps you off analogs and dont worry. :):):)
