Digging out of Chicago's 2011 Blizzard with not a smokers cough in site. I am truly amazed at how quickly my body has recovered from smoking. We had 20" of snow sitting on our 60' drive way and between my wife and I and two snow shovels, we cleared it all!

Why is this important... I did it without the usual frequent breaks to hack and cough. Pushing 3 months without an analog and what's really unusual about this quitting attempt is how I am able to extert myself without trouble. I quit for a year once and I didn't recover nearly as fast.

I'm not a very active person so I was a bit worried about the "Digg out". It's trully amazing. I'm hardly sore.

I just wonder if vaping, PG/VG/Nicotine, has some how helped me heal quicker. :)

Just thought I'd share.

congrats! keep it goin! I play hockey once a week, and last night was my first game since I started vaping. I was WAY less winded than usual, had way more pep in my stride, and was able to control the puck more. I notice my body being able to control what I was doing more, because I wasn't so focused on the fact I was exhausted.

Great to hear. My lung function has improved dramatically as well. :)

But, the OP poses a question, so far unanswered. Perhaps there is no known answer as of yet ...

He'd quit smoking previously for a year, without the extent of recovery he has seen in three months cigarette free as a vaper.

from one chicagoan to another,

Good job keeping off analogs.

As far as vaping making health recovery faster than cold turkey, well I don't see how. But maybe because vaping is enjoyable and you are in a much better mood than if you were miserable going cold turkey. So, maybe just perception? Or that nicotine has positive benefits when taken with out all that tar?

For what it's worth, I can think of several reasons why I'm recovering faster after a month of very few cigs than I did after three months of not smoking...

1. I'm not stressing over quitting
2. Quitting with e-cigs has had no affect on my appetite. When I quit analogs before, I compensated with food... I gained 60 pounds in three months, which, when you think about it, meant I gained 6/10ths of a pound A DAY. (something like that... I'm not that great with math).

My previous attempts were followed by a "cleansing" of the lungs. Body getting ride of the gunk. This time was different... I once read that PG could be used as a virucide and thought that may have helped. Doesn't nicotine expand vessels? May the cleansing was more subtle if blood flow as sufficent... Who knows. Just enjoying the recovery. :)

Congratulations. Today I cut my dormant grass to lower the weeds that have popped up with the warmer weather we've had here in Georgia and I certainly noticed a difference in my endurance. I only stopped once and that had nothing to do with being winded. In the past I'd stop 2 or 3 times to have a smoke and rest. After only 11 days there is a VERY noticeable difference in my lung capacity.

These things are amazing.

Funny, as a smoker when we are winded, we stop and smoke... Boggles the mind.
