Question on a mod i found, and i think it is very interesting. it is from ameravape technologies (the Manhattan) it is an 18650 mod with gold plated contacts and a wicked magnet switch. its fully modular as far a colors and such. has anyone seen this? any reviews? i cant find much about it online everything on youtube is from the company themselves. i am thinking about grabbing one but curious if anyone has any information about it?

thanks!

Never seen one, but the idea of gold plated contacts bothers me.

I'm in IT and use parts with gold plated contacts all of the time. They work wonderful in an environment where you place the connector once and leave it alone from that point forward, but gold is VERY soft, and it doesn't take much rubbing to remove gold plating. In a mech mod where you are removing toppers and batteries frequently I would be surprised of the gold plating on the point of contact lasts a month.

That said, everything I've read about this mod sounds fantastic.

Ive never thought of it in that perspective, being in IT myself but mostly software not hardware, I never thought about the softness of the gold. I'd love to get my hands on one first but cant seem to find a vendor local to Dallas. i find the switch idea to be very appealing but wonder if it has a stiff throw. not to mention the modular nature of the top/bottom caps.

I doubt you'll find a local dealer selling that specific mod. Even online there aren't many places that sell it other than Ameravape themselves. I did find one place that has it in stock though, and ships within 24 hours....

AmeraVape Manhattan #2001 - Viper Vape Inc

I can say this about the mod.... I've NEVER seen a mech mod push more than 150 watts before...

HMMMMM.... at .09 with a sony (lets say 3.7V) thats pushing 152.11W at 41.11A which is completely unsafe.... while im unsure of the battery i cant think of a battery to safely run at that. so im sceptical about the provided information.

I wonder how hot the mod got? im sure it was warm but it seemed to handle it ok?

and yeah viper vape is the only place ive seen it. :/

Mellow Green checking in with some information on the manhattan and ameravape technologies. I created an account so I could reply here actually, as I've mainly been a lurker so far. I'm in no way part of the company, but I do have close connections in the Mecca of vaping, and where this company is based, Southern California.

Anyways, concerning the gold contacts wearing out:
Ameravape Technologies offers a lifetime warranty on your manhattan mod. And even more, the shops they sell to will have monthly maintenance contracts, where once a month you can go to the shop you bought your manhattan for maintenance, and if anything is out of place or wearing down, they will fix it for you, including those gold contacts.

Additionally, the Manhattan was in research and development for a year, and they have created a great product because of it. It is specifically designed to handle those extreme subohm builds like .06. It's designed to never get a hot spot or a hot button, and as long as you are using the correct battery, and knowledgeable about subohm building, you'll be fine in terms of a safety standpoint.

It's true they aren't in many shops currently. I believe they only just launched a month or so ago, and their initial run has been selling quickly.

Ameravape Technologies stated a lot of this information themselves actually. They were recently on a vape radio show, and gave a lot of good information on their product.

You can watch the stream at ustream.tv/channel/vape-room-radio

It's the most recent recording.

Dude, I have 2 of these mods and I can easily say they're the best mods I've ever had. They're "competition mods", and are hard to find. The one I'm currently using is the polished black with a patriot dripper with a custom black anodized cap. The other is a matte green one. I got it direct, but I haven't seen that color sold anywhere. When I asked someone more informed on the topic they told me that that specific model is a limited edition and very rare. I've owned and used a ton of mods (my previous favorite was the GMS with the solid silver pin) and this one blows it outta the water. Usually I refuse to get or use mods with plated pins, but when the plating wears off on your pin ameravape gives ya a new one for free for as long as you own the mod. I was at a release party for the mod and met the guys who make em, they're really good guys. Also I'm considering selling the limited edition matte green colored one if I don't decide to customize it and keep it as an art piece because I already have one. Contact me if interested. If not , I heavily suggest buying one online or at your local vape shop. For around 180 bucks it's the best mod for the money ... If not the best mod period.

I've seen that mod before but it wasn't called the Amerivape, matter of a fact it wasn't called anything. It was inside a catalog from a chinese supplier which I won't name, this company only sells to shops and other bulk buyers. You order enough they'll embed any logo or name on it you want.
Lol. Nice try, but no.

I got an authentic but it didn't come with the three top pins. Only one. Do they post on the forums??

I can't personally say 100% that it's legit or not but the company founder recently posted some detailed youtube video's about the Manhattan's and clearly said that if it doesn't come with 3 pins, in Ameravape box, it's not authentic... Mind you could have purchased from a legit retailer who had an open box with missing parts and got a deal. Just forwarding the knowledge from what I heard very definitively stated in their video's (Part 2 video of 2)

I have an early run authentic, it only came with one pin and a gold plated bottom contact. I was told this is the way the early units came and it is legit. The first understanding the Manhattan video shows these early run mods. Maybe you got one of those? I was told the fakes come without boxes and as long as it comes in an Ameravape box it should be good to go.

I wonder if they will still honor that lifetime warranty now that they have pulled the mod for "public safety reasons".
