Last week Big Pharma funded ALA issued its State of tobacco Control report
Home - State of Tobacco Control 2014 | American Lung Association
ALA gave the Federal Government a D, including:
- D to the FDA for not proposing the “deeming” and other regs/bans for e-cigs and OTP and for not proposing a ban/regs on menthol cigarettes,
- D to Congress for not taxing e-cigs, smokeless and OTP at the same rate as far more hazardous cigarettes, and
- C for Cessation coverage for not mandating taxpayer and healthcare policy holder subsidization of all Big Pharma cessation drugs.
Overview - Federal Grades - State of Tobacco Control 2014 | American Lung Association
Highlights - State of Tobacco Control 2014 | American Lung Association
ALA accused tobacco companies of trying to undermine the TCA’s public health protections by promoting ‘harm reduction’, by lobbying for state laws to ban sales of e-cigs and OTP to minors, by opposing taxes on e-cigs, and by opposing e-cig usage bans; claimed e-cig companies are trying to "hook kids and keep smokers addicted".
Tobacco Industry - State of Tobacco Control 2014 | American Lung Association
ALA delineated mandated subsidization by each of the 50 states for many different Big Pharma smoking cessation drugs (demonstrating ALA's obsession with getting more Big Pharma funding to force taxpayers and healthcare insurance policy holders to unfairly subsidize the costs of Big Pharma cessation products).
