The bottom cap is removed from the M401 atomizer, and then it's housing is bushed into the Ruyan Bling cigar atomizer housing using a silicone ring from an RN4062 cigar, it all fit perfect.

Now it has nice hot chimney puffing style M401 vapor, but more of it,
no silly 7 second cutoff, uses huge cheap cigar batteries
and of course, the massive cigar carts instead of puny M401 carts.

I'm happy :)

RjG - not having one to look at, anything different about the cigar carts or just the same as, say, a 901 cart but bigger ?

Kinabaloo, I sent you photos of cigar carts on a ruler, 3/25, to your Yahoo account, you didn't get them?

Size of carts, compared to a penny, or a paperclip:

RjG - Have searched my mail but can't see it. I'll PM by email address.

I'm curious if there's any difference beside size ...

RjG,
Do you have instructions for disassembling the cigar?like how to release the internals, etc.??

Yep, very detailed instructions are posted here, it just got buried a bit...
This is an actual Ruyan Cigar: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/8368-cigar-rebuild-pics-bling-v2.html

If you are putting an M401 atomizer inside, the outer ring and threaded portion are discarded, as the first picture of this thread shows.
How-to for tearing down the M401 atomizer is right here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...isassembled-pics.html?highlight=m401+atomizer

An RN or DSE cigar are very similar inside, and the instructions are the same.
There are some pics of internals here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...e-vs-rn-cigar-internals-differences-pics.html for comparison.

PS, this m401 powered cigar is my DAILY smoker, 100%. I don't vape anything else.

It's still using the same atomizer from these pictures today, it's still a chimney, and I still love it to death :)

Yep, the construction is very much the same. You'll have to fiddle around a bit for a bushing - it just worked out for me that the 401 + RN bushing fit perfect inside the BLING atomizer shell.

Performance, it is a bit less vapor, but it's a lot hotter with a good kick - which for me anyway, I prefer. I like that burning throat punch. It goes thru a lot less liquid than before too. The reason I used the BLING as a base, is the bulletproof switch, and cheap larger batteries.

Kevin, every RN cigar I've had has died from switch problems. Never had one live to the point the atomizer died. Have you tried the clean button? 2 or 3 5-second shots ought to fix it right up...

The RN that died just stopped working. I tried the clean button, then washing out with hot water, drying and trying again, but no action on the atomizer. When I take it apart I can check on the switch. Which just occurred to me that if the switch is broken, then the mod doesn't work. :( I guess I'll figure that out as I go. Otherwise, maybe a nicostick with a 401 adapter. I really did like those 401's until my batteries made them a pain to use. How would you tell if the switch is not working, is there a connection that is broken?

Do you think that the bushing on the RN will be too big for the 401? I figured that the bling and the 401 are roughly the same size/shape and the bushing would still work. Any thoughts on a substitute?

thanks for sharing all your work.

To diagnose if it's the switch or atomizer, push the clean button and look down the tube. If the coil gets red hot using the clean button, then just the switch is screwed. The actual switch is really crappy on an RN. Here is a link with some pictures and some directions how to clean it up and make it work for a while again. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/17106-why-cigars-go-supernova-pics.html

The BLING has a -massive- atomizer. RN has a medium sized one. And a 401 is a bit smaller yet. If you check here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...e-vs-rn-cigar-internals-differences-pics.html the bling atomizer is the same physical size as the DSE701. The RN is beside it in a the picture there.

I get nothing when the clean button is pressed. Hopefully, it's the atomizer, then I'll still be able to use it for the mod. I've had decent luck with the RN's so far. Over a month of use without dying yet.

I guess my question about the bushing was more of, If I use the RN with a 401 atomizer, would the bushing fit it? You had mentioned that the bling was of different size and that you used the RN bushing. I figured that it would a simpler operation to switch the RN atomizer with the 401 rather than on a bling since there was already a bushing that fit the 401 on the RN.

well, I used the outer silicone bushing from the RN atomizer on the INSIDE of the old Bling atomizer housing tube, with the 401 nestled tightly in the middle. The BLING outer silicone bushing is still used.

So I have the 401 atomizer and housing (upper part) surrounded by the RN bushing, pressed in to the BLING atomizer housing, with the BLING bushing on the outside.

An RN atomizer is 8.6mm. The 401 is 7.5mm

You will have to bush either the 401 atomizer directly to the cigar body (that might be a bit sloppy using just the RN bushing, but there would be no way to hold it in) so that's a bit of a deal killer. Better to get your 401 atomizer INSIDE the tube that used to contain the RN atomizer and then everything will fit and go back together properly. That shouldn't be too hard, it's only 1/2mm to take up. Some teflon tape might do it. Or glue it in there with some food-grade type silicone - like aquarium stuff?
