Three days ago, I had my last cigarette. Now it's strictly ecigs and Zyban.

Felt a bit foolish vaping the evic in public. So got me a mini for work and out and about time.

Here is the collection of my little eGo family.

Great on the ecigs! Are you going to consider quitting the Zyban?

I wouldn't think there'd be any complications, but I'd recommend listening to your body. You're going to go through some changes after dropping the cigs, there are a few threads that list some medical changes you should read over.

If you experience anything outside of the 'normal transition' type experiences, I'd probably be ready to call the doc or drop the Zyban. Just a precaution.

Are you vaping 0 nic? Isn't Zyban supposed to interrupt something in your brain that makes you crave nic? I cannot remember exactly how it works but if your vaping nic you won't need shouldn't need the Zyban. I am taking your post to mean that you are using the Zyban to help you switch to vaping from smoking. I may be wrong tho. Sorry.. Your post left me with a few questions.

i would also drop the zyban ive heard of some pretty nasty side effects from it and its unnecessary with vaping most people quit with vaping with little to no craving for a cig at all. but ether way good job on quitting and soon you wont feel funny using the ecig in public they are getting pretty common, good luck to you:)

Honestly, you know what you should do? Go smoke a cigarette. Yup, you read that right...do it. That might sound like terrible advice, but let me explain.

When I first started using e-cigs, I relapsed a few days later and smoked a cigarette, and guess what? It tasted TERRIBLE!

I got my ex to start using a clearo around the same time I did. When I saw her a week later, I asked "just out of curiousity, have you smoked any cigs?" Immediately and somewhat exitedly she says "OMG they taste horrible!" It really is amazing.

If you want to get rid of that little demon saying 'mmmmm cigarette' forever, just go smoke one. The difference between a nic flavor you like and a burning cig, is like the difference between smelling a scented candle or incense and taking a big whiff of a log fire. You will not be pleased with how the burning smoke tastes, I promise you.

Burn that demon and go smoke one. Then you can get off those pills. Not trying to preach here, but don't play with your brain if you don't have to. You don't want to snowball into needing meds for side-effects, and more meds for side-effects from the side-effects meds, etc etc. Best of luck to you.

Basically "blocks nicotine receptor sites in the brain in order to reduce nicotine cravings, but in that process, naturally occurring dopamine and serotonin are blocked, creating dangerous and nearly intolerable side effects". Definately not good and would never take an anti-depressant personally. It's unfortunate that they have the nick-name "happy pills", when they can cause people to kill themselves. Another topic for another board though. :)

OP: Thinking about it, taking Zyban is going to make your e-cig useless. Now I understand why Dana asked what she did.

I'm no scientist, but taking something that will block nicotine receptors in your brain, while introducing your body to a lot of nicotine, might be a bad thing in itself. Like building up in places it shouldn't or building up in your brain. I could be way off, but just thinking out loud.

If fruity flavors make you think of food and then wanting a smoke afterwards, maybe consider changing flavors and bump up that nic from 6mg to something realistic!

Also, I think the vaping and smoking at the same time is why you haven't noticed how drastically the cig taste changes. If it's been a solid 3-4 days, do the test I spoke of and don't feel guilty for it. You need to see how nasty they taste lol.

Please don't think I'm criticizing or condemning you in any way, just offering suggestions because I genuinely care....and congrats on quitting! :)

Yup! There are multiple addiction support groups like AA and NA where clean time and the date of quitting is important. In this case though, I think everyone should encourage "relapse" if the person is having "reservations" about quitting. Cigarettes just taste so god-awful after a few days of vaping, it really puts any demons to sleep. That's one of the reasons crazy regulations by the FDA will infuriate me. This is the most effective smoking cessation product ever made!

Absolutely the best advice, the first week of me vaping I smoked a few stinkers left and right but they started tasting worse and worse. Try cutting down to 2 a day to clean your tastebuds, vape like a train whenever you feel a crave.

p.s. What I found help a lot is making the flavors more complex; throw 2 together, maybe add a tiny bit of menthol and it'll greatly improve your satisfaction.

Horrors of Chantix and Zyban

I tried quitting cold turkey, patches, gum, and then Zyban. The Zyban made me nauseated all the time, and made me irritable toward other people. That's the way it affected me, but of course everyone's different. I don't want to kill myself, but had strange thoughts, and you didn't want to be there when I was in a bad mood.

Where did I find success? I saw disposable ecigs in a drugstore. I tried them and said hey, this just may work. Unfortunately, they cost $10 each, but were supposed to be the equivalent of 2-1/2 packs. After I found that wasn't true, I searched the internet and found v2 ecigs. I bought them and it was somewhat better, but still not quite good enough.

I searched the internet further and found this site. I was suggested to try a eGo Twist and a tank system. The rest is history. I haven't smoked for almost 6 months now.

I'm going at my own pace, not quitting when some EXPERT tells me to.
