The SGSII looks like a great phone, I like sprint's version of it (doesn't it have the notification LED?). Looks like you guys will get official ICS pretty soon, but I see there are already a bunch of ICS roms for it. You should really try ICS if it's up to your standards yet, I can't imagine using anything else now!

I have an at&t galaxy s2. Aokp ICS pretty much has the bugs ironed out of it and its gorgeous. Touchwiz ICS is mostly garbage unless you really need to have touchwiz.

I've had an Android for two years now, but never felt the need to root my HTC Eris. The contract's up now and I want a 4G phone. I can choose between the Samsung Stratosphere or Samsung Droid Charge, or the Motorola Droid Bionic for $99 with contract renewal. Any comments on which phone is best and why?

The Bionic looks the one to get with its dual core CPU, more memory capacity, larger 4.3" display, and 2.3.4 Gingerbread OS. In the store, it's more expensive at $149, but $99 online. There are those who say the AMOLED display on the Samsung is prettier than the QHD pentile display on the Bionic. Then, there are power considerations. Pentile is supposed to be more battery friendly, but not quite as sharp and colorful. The jury's still out on displays.

Pentile vs AMOLED displays? Any comments?

Get the Bionic I deal with these phones for a living :D

Thanks, I was leaning that way. I chose the Stratosphere when I stopped at Verizon the other day, because of my decision to get whatever was $99. I think they had the Bionic at $149 at the store. It does look like a better deal.

What's your opinion on the QHD display vs the AMOLED? 4" vs 4.3 doesn't sound like a lot of difference, but it is when you hold them side by side.

If you can deal with the bionic's screen, then it seems like a fairly solid choice. The screen on the charge is unquestionably better IMO, but it doesn't have much going for it aside from the display. Out of the three you mentioned, the bionic does have the most up to date specs, but a poor quality display. Although I believe Motorola has released updates that have improved some of the ghosting and other issues people were having, so if the screen looks alright to you, that's probably your best choice.

Man... I've wanted a nexus since it was rumored one would come to Verizon back in like 3rd quarter '11. But by the time I'm eligible for upgrade, hopefully we'll have a date on the GSIII, and I'd be surprised if Verizon didn't get it with how successful the SII has been. I think the SIII will have some nicely improved hardware, I'm just hoping that Samsung decides to use an audio chip with at least equivalent quality to the original galaxy S. The fantastic audio quality and excellent rom support still has me happy with my fascinate (galaxy S).
