Yeah... The First thing I would do is e-Mail the School's Principle to request an Unabridged Transcript of the "Announcement". As well as the who authorized doing this announcement.

And insure that my request was processed promptly, I would "CC" the email to...

james.lane@doe.virginia.gov (Dr. James Lane - Superintendent of Public Instruction)

as well as...

Patricia.Haymes@doe.virginia.gov (Patricia Haymes - Director Office of Dispute Resolution)

I just found out this morning before leaving for work. Thanks for digging up my state's education powers that be for me. Given the current environment of uniformed, concerned public workers I'm not sure how effective any of this will be, but it could be fun to see what happens.

Hey No Problem dcdozer.

As someone who has been involved with Education, I was Disgusted by what you described.

BTW - Your Local School Board should also be "CC". But I didn't know the County your Son's school was in?

It could be a School Principle who took it upon themselves to make this Announcement.
Or it could have been a School Board
Or it could be Regional/State Policy

But whoever is Authorizing this, Blanketing the Food Chain usually guarantees that you Don't receive a Form Letter reply.

The world is very messed up. People feel that they have to have an opinion and it has to be correct.

You are a parent for your child. Explain to him that there is a ton of info out there that may or may not be correct but that you give him the best info for him because you love him.

Then tell him that vaping is not perfect, but it is way better than smoking. Then tell him that if he does either that you will rip his lips off and stuff one up each nostril.

Then hug him.

No, they are demanding the kids lie to them on penalty of a bad grade. That may be opinion, but it's also firmly held conviction.
Arguably more accurate.

I’m actually quite curious about the series of events that caused this little miscarriage of education to happen. Was it just the principle listening to puppets on TV and misassuming their message in exactly the way it was meant to be misassumed? Or was there some sort of finding offer involved?
If there was funding the money trail can be traced back and we can find out who is suborning our schools and how.

Horrible.

I'm wondering if the fact that you reside in Virginia may be a factor in it.

I was born in Virginia. I now live in California, where the government takes my tax money and uses it to fund a website that publishes anti-vaping propaganda.

    Apparently they do both.

It is a very good public school, and this is just a case of "useful idiots" spouting out the negative propaganda from the FDA/CDC/ALA/AHA/CTFK/countless sources of false information, etc.

But do even those evil organizations say that? I think they just made it up. It's not even a close call.

If (or rather when) my state imposes 100% taxes on vape gear I'll still buy it. Still a lot less $ than smoking.
I like my plan better: Buy gear that will last a lifetime before they implement such a tax.

That is what State Legislators hope Everyone does.

It allows them to continue to Pile On Tax after Tax after Tax and never have to even mention the concept of "Cutting Spending".

And as Mentioned earlier by Topwater, a Very Effective way to Pitch your Tax is to Start by Demonizing whatever it is that you want to tax. That way when the Taxes come, the Sheeple fall in line like good Sheeple do.
