sorry i had to make a new thread but my batteries are getting damaged at the negative side where it goes in contact with the spring. its too tight and now where it reads "ultrafire" on my 14500 900mAh 3.6V has a freaking hole :(
do you guys know of any safe fix for it? can i glue some aluminum foil (maybe conductive glue)? thanks!
maybe the best place for this question would be "new members forum" if a moderator would like to move it... again sorry for a dummy question!

Hi there misterD,
Would be nice to see a picture of this damage to see how bad it is. I really don`t want to just say fix it till I`d be able to see it. I vote replace it.
One thing for sure is if possible the mod causing this needs fixed. The 2nd is we like you to much around here and think if the battery is damaged you`d be better off replacing it.

I cut the end on one of the 10440 batteries making a mod. It wasn`t pretty but ended up just getting very hot and smelly and toasting the battery. Fixed the mod so that couldn`t happen again and replaced the battery.

i shortened the spring but i got a feeling that the contact on the battery is crappy. i've seen that some people use some product at the spring to prevent this type of thing...
thanks for replying, dear sir!

Hmm I`d say it`s repairable but couldn`t say with what. But I don`t know what's under there and how deep it could go. Maybe it would be good in getting some other opinions on this
Tinfoil would just rip away I`d think.

If you shortened the spring did you make sure to use like needle nose pliers and curl the end so it wasn`t pointing into the battery I cut most of my springs down and curl them so it`s not a sharp edge towards the battery.

That appears to be the protection circuit board outer metal layer you cut into.

The little groove around the negative end of the battery is the PCB.

If connection can be establish in an area away from the damage, and the damage did not go through to the circuitry on the other side of the board, you lucked out until you can get another battery.
